This week's Xbox Live deal is 30 percent off a Gamertag name change for all Gold subscribers, bringing the cost down to a total of 560 MS Points ($7).

I scored "The Detective" with a space in between and everything since I was lucky enough to get in the beta test. Simple, clean, would never want to change it. Good luck to all those that do though. Hopefully, the one you want is out there

Sadly, yes. I was young and foolish when I first made my gamertag... January 2011.

Stuff like this makes me wish I didn't already have the best gamertag on Xbox Live.

I believe so. If it weren't a gamertag at all, the page would just be an error message.

It might mean that the person just hasn't been playing games on it.

Mine is the same way but with a couple of games, I haven't had an xbox for almost 4 years, but I log in once in a while just to keep the name for when I do go back.

It's possible that someone has the name canada and has never used but logs on through the web browser just to keep it active

Yeah and I should have an option to automatically delete a friend when they change their tag. I have like 10 people on my list that I have no idea who they are.

I still think MS should make changing your gamertag free (if not mandatory) if you have any of the following;

All those users already game the system by getting friends to report them to get free name changes all the time each time they join a new clan for the new game of the month.

I've had my gamer tag since xbox live beta. (Genji, named for the book, not the mediocre game franchise). I've kinda wanted to change it for a long time, but it's so clean and simple. Also, I like the ego boost of being an OG XBL user.

There are times when I disliked my choice of gamertag, but now it's a part of me. Too late to change it after all these years.

I want to change my name, but I don't have enough points, so I tried getting my free 250 from Bing rewards so I can afford it, only to find it's only available for people in the US!!

(I'm too cheap to buy them)

I would pay double to change my PSN name.

This promotion is also known as "free money" within Mircosoft.

Alternatively you can get a bunch of random people from school/work/zoo (not too many from your friends list) to report your tag as offensive and you get to change it for free.
