The platform specificity in the headline should already impart the bad news: Machinarium is not suited for the original iPad. According to a brief post on Amanita Design's blog, the melancholy 'bot adventure "needs quite a lot of memory and fast CPU so it works well only on iPad 2."
Owners of Apple's latest tablet "should" be able to download Machinarium from the App Store on September 8th. Amanita offers an apology to iPad 1 owners, and we suggest you load up the Unreal-powered Infinity Blade to quell any creeping thoughts of technological inadequacy.
Machinarium is available on PC and Mac, and is en route to PlayStation Network (this fall), Playbook and "capable" Android tablets. Should we start worrying about the WiiWare version?

Can't wait to play this on PS3. Seeing the beautiful art rendered in native 1080p and hearing HD-quality audio is going to be awesome!!

But it suffers from a low resolution on PC.

Bought collector's edition for PC, forgot to even open the box. :/ Came across it the other day while clearing up, covered in dust, still cellophane wrapped. I was extra busy with stuff at the time, and then other things happened. I know I should, I even signed up for the alert email to tell me when the game was finished after really liking Samorost!

I've only got the first iPad, so I'll be getting it for PS3 instead.
Yes, nice story, I know... ;)

I wonder what the price on it will be. I've had the PC version for awhile, but have never got around to playing it. Might be more likely on a different platform.

And iPad 1...? Because the iPad 2 is basically an iPad 1 with cameras and a faster processor, correct?

Steve Jobs approves! Buy a new iPad 2 and then buy an iPad 3 the next year.

Pretty terrible to leave behind a platform that was replaced less than a year ago. Is this what we can expect in the future? This time next year, all those Ipad2 owners won't be able to play some games because they don't have the Ipad3? Ridiculous. Apple shouldn't allow this.

Oh yes the original Ipad could never handle 2D, simply an impossible feat!!

I think I own this game, but I have no idea. Darn you, Humble Indie Bundle! Err, I mean, bless you, too.
I find it hard to believe that this game can't run on the original iPad. Dead Space runs fine on the first iPad. This is basically a flash game. I can only think the codebase for this is an inefficient mess. Normally, I wouldn't care. With desktops, we are pretty accustomed to throwing extra CPU power at sloppy code, but when you're dealing with mobile, efficiency counts, because it sucks your battery and CPU from other stuff.
While I hold that as a general truth, I may be wrong about Machinarium, specifically... I will hold final judgement until I find it hiding in one of my Humble Bundle folders that I haven't unzipped yet.

I saw "Mechanarium...2 on Sept. 8" and got way too excited. Alas, the pitfalls of skimming.

It has some high-resolution images, and sublet animations. If it's too intensive, or requires too much memory for an iPad 1 - it's a BAD PORT!

Or it was made in FLASH and they're having a poke at Job's stupidity for not allowing FLASH apps on the market.

There is something "magical" with playint these types of games on a iPad...day 1 buy for me.

WHAT? Pardon me, iPad 1 not able to carry this game? Sorry guys, this means you should be probably back to school realning about developing games. CPU intensive? Resource intensive? Please, don't be funny with this.
With carefull thinking I can see this game fit and work on DS. The original DS. With 4MB RAM and 640 kb VRAM and 67 MHz. Yeah, that requires some streaming of textures, some downscaling, optimizations, but say, isn't it what skillful development is about?
So, I regret buying Machinarium in the first place after this. I say NO to lame ports and NO to such politics.
