Oh, this is a good one to use for OnLive, considering how notoriously hard it is to run properly on a rig. I'm on a GTX 460 and I'm nowhere near stable FPS if I turn up even half the features on the highest setting.

Anyone who has not already should buy it. It is one of my favourite games and has a certain charm to it. Also ULTRA excited for last light.

OnLive is fantastic, but playing this game at low resolution and awful graphics would make me cry a bit.

Also, since it's OnLive it's obligatory to complain about my bandwidth.

My bandwidth!

I have a REALLY hard time buying Onlive Games. I got Batman AA when it was $0.99, but when OnLive complains more than half the time that my "connection suffers intermittent drop-outs" and won't let me play, I just can't give them any money...

But $5 Metro 2033 is really tempting

This was $5 last week on Steam - why wasn't that posted on Joystiq?
Onlive is getting a lot of undeserved attention. Let me know when they actually have some exclusive titles to stand apart from other game consoles. (Not that I would even care then - with limited monthly bandwidth, a service like Onlive is useless to me - just like more and more gamers who's service providers are capping bandwidth limits...)

1: Onlive is pretty great, so the attention is well deserved.

2: If Joystiq had an article for every good steam sale you wouldn't be able to find the other articles.

So, what is it that makes OnLive so great? It's just "Netflix" for games - if you have limited bandwidth, you're out of luck. The selection of games, though increasing, are still limited and there are NO exclusive titles. The versions are only PC versions, which in this day and age are usually inferior to console counterparts (with the exception of graphics, in many cases, you can get superior graphics on a PC version).

And while I agree with your point re: Steam deals, since they're daily - my point was that these "deals" shouldn't be posted at all. Or, maybe Joystiq should have a daily deal page dedicated to deals on all platforms (Onlive, Steams, Mobile, XBLA, PSN...)

Onlive is useless to you! Well Perlman and crew should just pack it in then I guess.

Ugh...

I'll never understand why gamers complain about MORE ways to play video games. OnLive is a great service for people with netbooks/weak PC's (soon tablets). By the way some of us DO have great internet service. This might be mildly surprising to you but not everyone has terrible a ISP and gaming PC.

@NaeemTHM

See the ironic bit there is the people who are going to be able to afford the unlimited bandwidth that onlive essentially requires. Are also likely the same gamers who can afford to assemble the behemoth rigs required to run these games natively at full settings.

Since more and more internet providers have jumped on the "Lets offer them less for more" bandwagon, capping and tiering their services. Of course only to "ensure a quality customer experience".... the only way OnLive is going to make sense is if it is licensed out to ISPs and offered as a bundled package.......

That or people get off their asses and actually start opposing bandwidth capping and tiered service.

@Axcalibur Hah, what's funny is that I'm not upset they're posting the 5 dollar OnLive deal, but that they didn't mention it's something like $3.16 if you subscribe to the monthly Playpack.

Now that's a deal. Batman was 69 cents for me. :P

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro (Left homebuilt desktop at home while I'm at college).

Out of curiosity, could I buy games like this and play them on this relatively low spec and dated machine without problems? An interesting solution to a troubling problem...

Yup, as long as you have OS leopard or newer I believe.
And if you have a good wireless or pretty good wired connection.
