It's kind of sad that all the old interfaces are basically gonna be lost forever, unless you can find a console that hasn't connected to the internet since (insert date of interface you like) and will stay that way.

I wish they would give people the option to go back to something older, if only as a cosmetic skin or something (and I mean the full interface, not just the wallpaper).

I like the new dashes...everytime they have done something I've liked more and more. To be honest though.....I LOVED the initial "blades".....but I like the fact my Kinect will actually be put to use throughout my dash experience. "Xbox, Find Actual GOOD First Party Developer". *iKid*

Hope I can get in the beta. Not sure if I like this or not, but I like having things before other people. Haha

everyone is complaining about ads, but it's not like their advertisements are showing that you can buy from somewhere else. It's to show you what they have in their media store that you can buy with just one click.

@PedoJokerBear - I agree. I have no problems with ads for something I can click a button and buy over Xbox Live. It's more of a promotion of what's actually available at that point than an ad.

I consider a true ad something like Red Bull, McDonalds, Pepsi, etc. (annoying and nothing to do with Xbox Live...something I would have to leave my Xbox and probably house to go get) not a video game, or game on sale, game reduction, or video I can buy instantly over Live, etc.

Amen, can someone point out the ads to me here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYI_XF5dR7I

I mean, if people are talking about the notices about new content available on the market place, not only are those not ads but they're actually quite helpful.

Tons of people complain about not being able to access new XBLA games quick enough but when MS puts a "Crimson Alliance now available" tile on there people scream "omg ad!!"

That's not an ad.

@PedoJokerBear Actually, a Windows Phone (bottom right) is something you buy elsewhere and thus qualifies as an ad even under your rules.

As to the other panels, they're ads too. MS is showing you pictures of stuff you don't own in the hopes that you pay for them. That's the definition of an ad. Only "quickplay" isn't an ad.

@Alex Oglitchkin Yes Joystiq, downvote him because he thinks it looks similar to the PS3 XMB.

Would be nice if the console loaded faster. Nothing fun about pressing the guide button during a game and have it slow to a crawl while it loads. Then clicking on the Messages tab, slow loading, then trying to reply to a message, slow loading, then exit back to the game and and its so slooooooooow!

Hopefully this new dash is faster but after the last two revisions I doubt it.

@DSight - I don't have that problem. Must be your internet connection.

@HokieKC

So you're saying that you've never had any sort of delay, ever when you use the dashboard at any point in time?

@DSight

It's not the internet connection--I've experienced some slowdown with the guide button from time to time.

@Alex Oglitchkin Truthfully, the current dashboard is actually a lot closer to Sony's XMB (just rotated and with category looping).

The tab-style category navigation still looks the same, but actually browsing within a category looks nothing like XMB (and is certainly a lot less restrictive than XMB's tree-style navigation).

Shouldn't "games" be the very first category and not the sixth one on that list? This plus all the damn ads really annoys me.

@Alex Oglitchkin It reminds me less of the XMB than it does now.

The XMB uses an XY navigation system. Menus are basically up-down, left-right, and most of the time the menu options don't all appear on screen at a time, so you're generally scrolling blindly. That's what the Xbox has now.

This reminds me more of the Blade system that the Xbox had at launch. Tabs. Each tab has all of its menu options sprawled out and sized differently based on importance. More importantly, you can see all menu options at once, so you're not scrolling up and down blindly.

If anything, this sets the Xbox apart more from the PlayStation. The differences are striking, especially from a practical standpoint.

Sooooo still no improvement to that awful Music player and still no copying films to HDD, fair enough the dash looks great, the practicality is up for debate but the two things i've pointed out are the 2 things ive yearned for since 2006 when i bought my first xbox......i am so disappoint

That's by far the sexiest interface I've ever seen on a console. This is coming from someone who only owns a PS3 and a Wii. All this does is make me realize how bad the PS3's interface needs a makeover.

I like the visual style of it (reminds me of Zune), but what moron decided it was a good idea to not have "games" as the first menu option? I don't know about everyone else, but I mostly play video games on my freakin' video game console.

This looks great to me. I'm just wondering how the Live TV is going to work. Can I access it for free with a Gold membership or am I going to need a cable subscription on top of that?

Of course somebody who points out a resemblance that he sees about PS3 is down voted, but when a Xbox fanboy hates on the PS3, he gets up voted.

Reminds me of my Windows Phone 7 UI. Microsoft is really pushing the whole "tiles" thing. Windows 8 has 'em, WP7 has 'em, and now Xbox has 'em.
