2012 is right around the corner, you guys, and as if global pandemics and earth-shattering astronomical events weren't enough to look forward to, Trion has told Eurogamer that we should all expect an End of Nations as well.
Originally slated for a 2011 release, Trion's free-to-play meta-MMO/RTS is now set to launch sometime before the end of the world in 2012. This news follows an exhibition of the title at Eurogamer Expo 2011, where Trion also stated that items purchased through microtransactions will be relegated to cosmetic duty, as the title is not "pay to win."

The cake is a lie, just like the world ending but i haven't heard anything about this game, but an MMO/RTS sounds like it could be fun might have to look around youtube and G4 for previews

Yay we get to play a game about ending the world just before the world really ends!
/sarcasm -
Are there really that many people out there that actually believe the world is going to end in 2012?

When I talked to these guys they said that you start each mission with a fixed set of units, and there is a maximum number that you can have of a given type of unit. If you pay real money, you can exceed that limit (e.g. if you want a monoculture army) and you can also purchase additional features for your units.
It may not be strictly pay-to-win, but I'd say that you can definitely do more with a more flexible unit mix and units with additional attacks or abilities.

Petroglyph Games the creators of End of Nations were originally Westwood Studios who designed the first real RTS - Dune II. If anyone can make an MMO RTS its Petroglyph.
