Saved Windows, wha??? Please enlightment me.
I may not have agreed with this man's business policies, and I even hated his outright elimination of Apple's philanthropy programs....
But it is sad to lose one of the true geniuses of the computing revolution. RIP.

I know Microsoft bailed Apple out of bankrupcty in 1997 by buying $150 million worth of stock. Is that what you are thinking of?
Anyways, this isn't the time for fanboy wars (largely my fault, apologies). RIP Pirate of the Silicon Sea.

Watch Pirates of Silicon Valley, Steve Jobs basically created Windows just to have it stolen by Bill Gates, then he goes on to create the most wealthy company in the world.
The man with two multi-billion dollar ideas.

@pally321 He saved Windows? You really need to know your history, and be more informed before you make a fool out of yourself, you fanboy.

wrong
when Microsoft got started, Mr. Gates bought a DOS system for $50k from a college student the night before he was to demo a mini-computer OS for IBM. Steven Jobs has always maintained the original IBM-PC was a rip-off of the Apple III motherboard. The Apple III had expansion slots for PCI cards, but the vendors and Apple never fully supported the Apple III with software and add-on PCI cards.
Well before the Macintosh, Jobs and the Woz toured Xerox when Xerox had a R&D division and observed a mock-up of the mouse. That little fact canceled all claims to Apple patents.

@pally321 it was MS that saved Apple with a huge loan , during Jobs second go around w/ the company he created . if am not mistaken the partnership or loan was announced during a mac expo. think it was the year Jobs was introduced Halo from Bungie . but never happened cause MS bought bungie .

Name a computer/tablet/mp3 player/cell phone manufacturer that doesn't release a product every few months. Hell, Samsung has released/announced 12 phones since 2009 just with the word "Galaxy" in their name. Look how many Laptops Toshiba or Sony or Acer or Dell are selling at any one time. If anything, Apple tends to get criticized for not releasing new models enough.

Yeah, they managed to make us look stupid pretty quickly. It was half-way down the list of stories, wedged in somewhere between the Ubisoft self defense game and secret Doom levels in Rage (both of which had more comments).

Lmfao. I unpin mine the moment i install windows and go for chrome. What actually bothers me more, is his taskbar windows are combined. That drives me batty, same with his hiding of programs on the bottom right. I have to have mine all visible or again, it drive me nuts.

Really? You don't think the smart phone you have isn't an imitation of an iPhone? Do you not have an iPod? Do you not have a huge library of mp3s that were boldly supported as a business model, when other powers believed the physical album was here to stay? Do you not have any editing software that has been made more intuitive thanks to Apples innovation? What about your laptop, is it designed in similar fashion as a macbook? Apple and Steve Jobs' impact goes far beyond Mac OS.

"man only 56 years old?"
As callous as it will surely sound (it's not meant to be disrespectful in anyway), he was extremely fortunate to survive for as long as he did. The prognosis for pancreatic cancer for most people is...less than 10 months and that's with aggressive medical treatment; he fought it claw, tooth, and nail FOR YEARS to hold onto something most of us take for granted. Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs; you lost a battle you shouldn't have had to wage in the first place.

Yeah. Makes you wonder right? So young and rich. Money isn't enough to get you better. Kinda makes me wonder. When i/if get a serious illness in my future. I have no chance with my income (10$ an hour). he had all the money in the world and still couldn't be saved. Sad. RIP.

People will forever argue wether iOS, Android, WP7, etc. is the better smartphone OS, but the fact remains Apple and Steve Jobs got us all here. If it wasn't for him I'd probably still be rocking my Palm Treo!
Thanks for all the neat shit Jobs; the mobile computing world just got a whole lot less interesting.
