So how do you say it?

@Deone

If you know anything about Japanese phonetics it would be like:

Gah-ee-kah-ee

Actually, the a and i combine to make the long i sound, i.e. gi-ki, as in guy-kite.

Yeah, it sort of does when pronounced at a normal speed.

I work for a Japanese company and my Japanese supervisor taught me a lot.

Why would you downvote me? Like I said, I've been learning this stuff from the Japanese. This is correct. When you speed it up and speak normally, it will sound more like "Guy," but said slowly, it should come out that way.

Probably because he's looking for the way to say it normally, not slowly.

But it would follow your version in a haiku! Because each word (gai + kai) is made up out of two kana, and each kana is a beat: Ga+ee ka+ee

OnLive seem to have forged ahead quite a distance, hopefully these guys can make up the ground so that there is always competition.

Mystique marketing only works when people are talking about you: I haven't heard from Gaikai in what feels like at least a year. Competition is always good; I just hope that it doesn't mean exclusive games on each service (but of course that's exactly what will happen).

What exactly is hard about pronouncing Gaikai? It's pretty hard to mess that up. If you can pronounce Mai Tai you can pronounce Gaikai.

"It turns that the actual word is a Japanese word, and it means 'a large open space,' like out on the open ocean, and if you look around on the open ocean, you can go in any direction."

Those are two different words. It can mean either the external world ("the hermit received little information from the outside world") or the open sea (out beyond the harbor).

Rudimentary Japanese is such a useful skill to have in this industry. Personally, I go nuts every time I hear "Suda Fifty-One" instead of "Suda Goichi."

People may think I'm a "weeaboo" or something for it, but hearing people mispronounce that name is just as cringe-worthy as any Engrish phrase.

Especially since once you get the japanese vowels down, there's no way in hell you can mispronounce anything. ...except the silent "U" as in "desu".

Yeah, its dead simple! Even knowing the vowels is probably enough to impress.

Well Suda 51 is an exception because that's an actual nickname from the play on words.

You didn't even try to pronounce it correctly.

You could have just read the comments posted before you.

You didn't bring your sense of humor either. I guess skinny jeans are making people uptight.

Still regardless of pronunciation it's a weak name.

@afrosheen What? Oh, man! You are SOOOO funny. Thanks for not answering my question and showing us all how old you are. Did you really just make a skinny jeans joke? I've never even owned a pair of skinny jeans you presumptuous hag.

Oh, and I would make a Charlie Sheen joke about your username, but unlike you I'm actually funny.
