Konami doubled its year-on-year profits in the first half of the 2012 fiscal period, with social games generating $216 million -- just $2 million less than its consumer games produced in the same time.
Konami's consumer-game market, which generated $218 million, fell 26 percent, while social and mobile revenue rose 230 percent. Sales of Metal Gear games dropped from 1.47 million in last year's first half, to just 340,000 this period. Overall, unit sales of Konami games dropped from 10.05 million to 7.36 million, or 34 percent. Social-game sales saved Konami's first half, recording 11 million total registered users for these titles, compared to 3 million in December 2010.

@Brained All I have to do is think of Raiden saying "I am lightning. The rain transformed." and I'm popping the disc in.

I'm sad that all the gameplay for MGS4 wasn't as fun in the last few acts as it was in the first half of the game though.

MGS4 is easily one of the best games ever! I love that game! I wish they made another MGS with snake.

A big deterrent for the "new" one (Peace Walker) is that alot of ppl didn't have a PSP and weren't willing to spring for one.
Good thing the HD collection is out now.
As for Metal Gear as an online shooter...
Kojima needs to let go of his hard-nosed stand on the MGO controls and simply modify them so that weapons and accessories are mapped to the D-pad or something else other than trying to scroll through them on the L2/R2 buttons. Having it the way it is now makes it too frustrating to play without alot of practice.
Then there's the issue of the headshot thing...but outside of all that, MGO has potential as an online game, it just needs some refinements.

Glad I wasnt the first one to say that. MGS aside, other than Castlevania last year and No more heroes paradise this year, I cant remember the last new Konami release. Sure they are gonna get my money again through the HD collection coming soon but I want a new game dang it.

@kentuckyfried also the Konami ID thing totally blows. i don't even remember mine. Every time i need to play konami games online (MGS,PES), i had to start searching, figurin out my ID n pass. They should have just used PSN instead to make things more accessible. even EA account is better than theirs

Agreed, I wasn't really a big fan of MGS but MGS4 was just so amazing. God I'm going to play it again.

Only thing that picture made me think of is Tuesday. Everyone of my friends are going to be getting MW3 and im getting MGSHD. I believe I made the right choice.

@GeraltRivia You have made a very good choice. It's unfortunate Amazon doesn't stock up on the LE until later in the week which my delivery is schedule for the 14.
So Tuesday is not MGS day for me.

I see the same thing for the regular edition, as well...really not sure what is up with them...shows it's out on the 8th, and scheduled delivery is 15th...that's a lot longer than the 2 days I paid for shipping!!!

There's no chance of that happening dude. Just give up already! Or just go and trade in your 360 for a PS3 and get MGS4 with Uncharted 1-3, God of War and other amazing PS3 exclusives.

Konami, put all your effort in MGS Rising.
Sales will be up, revenue will be up, all will be forgiven!

I meant if it came to the 360 it would get achievments. So therefore the PS3 version would get trophies finally.
