The TV adaptation leaves quite a bit to be desired. I shudder to think how any game adaptation will fare. Some works are best left to their original medium.

@antaydos The TV version is amazing, and besides some of us don't have time to read what is essentially pulp fiction.

Pulp fiction? Have you read the books or are you just making an assumption? The books are richly detailed and there is a lot more exposition to juxtapose what you see in the show. When I say that the show leaves a lot to be desired, I mean that there is a lot left out, not that the quality is low.

@Brained

Are you serious? Pulp fiction?

Also, show me the logic of the TV show being amazing and the books being just pulp fiction, when they're the same story!

have you tried reading the books? They are one of the deepest thing out there. If you thought the show was amazing, then reading the books will give you multiple orgasm. The show is indeed amazing, but they feel like a summary whereas the books are so much more, they delve into the pysche of these characters in ways that will make you shudder in a good way. Yeah, the story in the hands of a different writer couldve turned into "pulp fiction", that is not the case here, its epic literature. And no RPG can ever capture what makes the books and series so great, no need in even trying such games.

@antaydos If it weren't for the show, I wouldn't have read the books. Yea, the show's acting was a little stiff to begin with, but as the season went on, it definitely got much, much better. Not only that, but the show was almost identical to what happened in the book, with very few tweaks.

I can't wait for the next season to start. I felt a little guilty reading the books, since now I've basically read four seasons' worth of spoilers for the show.

In their defense, certain events and characters have to be left out due to budget and time constraints. As long as they remain faithful to the core story while maintaining the quality it has now, then I'll be happy. Although, the exclusion of Brynden Tully kind of annoys me.

I am assuming it's going to be a "Might and Magic"/RTS clone.

Big Point isn't well known for its..."extreme quality". :P

@Space Cobra

They are also well known to sell every in-game advantage they can. So expect free passes to sit on the throne to be a norm in the shop.

Yep, I'm sure an MMO will really capture the feel of Martin's political intrigue.

And I'm totally sure that they'll resist putting in magic.

/sarcasm

However you make a game that's centred around Tyrion doing awesome things all the time, and I'd get that day one.

@That One Guy

I think I got more of a kick out of Robb's face in the background.

I'm realistic when I say that this game is probably going to suck.

Everyone thought Battlestar Galactica was going to suck because it said browser game, and what do you know, it won several awards globally including best browser game of 2011 in europe and U.S. Also graphically it was amazing for a browser game. so i wouldnt be so quick as to right it off yet.

If they base it only the world and make it the backdrop of the main storyline ala LOTRO they could probably pull it off and make it decent.

Otherwise, just set it in the main world like TOR or something like this: http://gameofthrones.net/
