Hey listen, Halo, we like you and all -- you've always been there for us over the years. But when you come out with a $40 anniversary edition, it's like, that game was fun the first five times we played it. We've got nothing against you, per se, but with Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim out now, it's just; we can't really commit that much money, you know? It's not you, it's us!
Wait, what's that? You're also releasing the Anniversary Edition maps as DLC for Halo Reach? Oh! For 1200 points (about $15), we'll get six multiplayer maps that are revamps of levels from previous Halo games with new features and areas, and a Firefight map called "Installation 04"? That's much more our speed, Halo!
The maps (and playlists for them) will be live on November 14, so we'll see you there, Halo. And no hard feelings, right? We love you, you know. Just not all the way.

Don't care, Skyrim is here. Sorry Halo, you're sweet and all, but Skyrim beat you to the punch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Reach players initially supposed to get these maps for free?
Posted: Nov 11th 2011 1:22AM Electrium said
@Dionkey Forge World maps and community-made maps are free - I don't remember them ever saying these would be. I don't think they ever even confirmed Reach-only players would be able to get these maps without the Halo:CE disc (although we all knew it would happen eventually).

It was announced that these maps would be available to all Reach players very shortly after Anniversary was released. Turns out Reach players will be able to get them the day Anniversary is released.
...And nobody ever said these maps would be free.

Yeah, I don't know why people get downvoted for asking questions. Unless they're read with a negative or sarcastic tone. Any question starting with "Correct me if I'm wrong" is always a humble one. No need for downvoting.

Whoa, I'm seriously considering this. I'm not a huge campaign guy, I've already played the game, and if I'm desperate I can buy it on sale.
If 343 wants to keep sales, now would be a perfect time for the embargo on that game to lift!

Nice one! The irony of your statement is that the world wants to destroy you. Guess I'll go back to playing more Drone Combat 3 along with 15 million other drones s/.

I've already pre-ordered my copy of Halo: Anniversary on Amazon. A $40 game plus a $10 Amazon credit seemed like a good deal to me; well worth the money. My time will be spent with this game.
And who can complain about $15 for SEVEN new maps!? That's about $2 per map. Not to mention they're all remakes of some of the best Halo maps from over the last 10 years.
...How many maps does $15 get you for CoD again...?

The Hivemind is calling, they want their opinion back. As if people need more negative, baseless things to say... Constructive comment feedback would be much more welcome.

@Mouthsmasher You pay $60 a year for a map pack then pay another $15 every three months for 5 more maps

Halo CE Anniversary is easily more worthwhile than MW3, and it's hard to hate the price as well. And considering I pre-ordered off of Amazon, I'm also getting $10 in Amazon credit thanks to their awesome pre-order specials.
I also wasn't aware they did 99ยข release day shipping, have they always done that?

@SolCross They have done the .99 release date shipping for a couple years at least. Plus, if for some reason you DON'T get it on release day, they knock a few bucks off of the purchase price. But I've never had that happen. The games usually arrive the morning of release day, sometimes in the afternoon. Either way, the game is waiting for me after I get off of work. Also, if you have Amazon Prime, release-day shipping is free.

Quick correction: The maps come out the 15th, not the 14th like the article says.

Yeah, I definitely did NOT buy Modern Warfare 3 and will be playing a not-so-healthy amount of both Halo Anniversary and Skyrim over the next few...years.

Wow that is an excellent deal! But with the holidays JUST around the corner I think I can hold off for a month-ish.

Reach wasnt all that great, so playing through the first one will be refreshing.
Posted: Nov 11th 2011 11:53AM MatthewMk2 said
Will people who buy the DLC for Reach be able to play with people who have Anniversary? If not then it's pretty stupid, why split the community like this?
Posted: Nov 11th 2011 12:39PM SurlyDuff said
@MatthewMk2 The Halo: Anniversary DLC maps are in their own playlist. So if you have Reach, you can play with Halo:A players, provided you download the maps. Halo:A players cannot play the regular Reach playlists. If you just want the maps, get the DLC maps, then play through Reach. This does not splinter the player pool. Everybody who wants to play the new hotness can play with eachother, just like any other DLC release. Most people with Halo:A will likely play through campaign, install the new maps, put the disc away, and then go back to playing multiplayer through Reach.

Even though I've been dating Batman, Battlefield3, MW3, and Skyrim, I'll always go back to my main squeeze Halo. We have history (and I forgot my CD's somewhere on Pinnacle).

Still getting Anniversary. This will be a blast with my other buddies to play through, plus the new MP maps will be awesome! I assume the multiplayer will be a second disc like ODST.
