This is wonderful in the worst way imaginable. Man weren't the 90's a crazy time?

Yeah, except the trainee mentions Cruisin' USA on N64 is a "hot new racing game," which dates this around 2000.

RIP FuncoLand. You will be missed, along with the NES, SNES, Genesis, Game Gear, Game Boy, etc. that I sold you so long ago...

OMG i remember the last Funcoland in my area. Thats where I bought the VMU for my dreamcast, and where my dad got me the additional christmas gift of a preorder of Halo 2 when it was 1st announced. I'm surprised it lasted the time between the announcement to the actual release.

I trained under this video way back when, and EVER since I've wanted to find it posted online. This made my day.
So hilarious.

So I guess when Funcoland went out of business, you moved on to the porn industry, right?

I worked at Funcoland during these days, and I always kicked myself for not stealing that training video. Now it's here on the internet for everyone!

Also, the guy in the costume was the head of Customer Service from the corporate office. He came to our store once (but not in costume).

Yup. The key is to listen carefully starting at 3:26 in the second video, when he says he's the director of sales and service. ;)

Get them to buy a game, buy a controller, buy a magazine subscription, buy a cleaning kit.
Sounds like GameStop's plan.
And did he put that game back in without drying it, or letting it dry? Cleaning it every time you play them? That won't help them, that would hurt them before helping them.

I recall a frantic search for this video online many years ago, and then this surfaced. I'm glad it was not lost to the ether.
I have fond memories of laughing hysterically with my co-workers at this awful video.
God bless Chuck Simmons and his warped mind.

Best parts of the video are the "customer"s reactions to the kid appearing out of thin air.

That and the secret shoppers. I worked for "Fucoland" (no joke, some woman actually asked me if this was "Fucoland" when she came into the store) years ago and they pushed upsells HARD! My manager was a cool guy and would tell people with NESes that they probably did need a cleaning kit, but that they were 1/2 the price at Toys 'R Us. He probably shouldn't have told that to the secret shopper though, since he got canned for doing just that.

When I started watching this video, I saw the 'employee' (Adam) and thought, I've seen that guy before somewhere... well I did a little looking online and found this.

If anyone is curious what "Adam" is up to these days, he's written a new show that's due to open in January in Minneapolis.
If you want more information about it, or are in interesting in helping it get started, the link above will give you more info.

Man, I want the training video for the restaurant chain I started out in, it was SO BAD.
The worst part was the sexual harassment portions. Hell, we'd watch that while on break because it was hilarious. Teenage girls hitting on a 60 yr old man and the infamous "ass shake" where a dude rubs his ass all over a girl in a service closet.
That video lead to more sexual harassment than actually preventing (and way too many ass shakes,... awgawd...). These videos are priceless.
