As long as there's no shooting sections, consider me sold.

For what it's worth, this is one of those few iOS games that does touch controls RIGHT. It's a breeze to control Faith and you actually feel like a total badass flying through the air.

Now if other developers would stop using virtual d-pads :-/

I got it last year for free and yes, there's no shooting, it's more like a platformer.

The game may be free, but my time is increasingly expensive.

It's a pretty great game, there's no excuse not to nab it for free.

"Not as thrilling?" Feh. More like "actually playable." The console version of Mirror's Edge was a convoluted mess. A 3D platformer was a horrible idea... one that requires most of the buttons on the controller was even worse. When you take 3D out of the equation, the game becomes manageable, even fairly fun! (Although climbing up those steam vents can go right to hell.)

I didn't think it was so bad. Other than that one section where you're running across the top of that atrium where everyone is shooting at you and a couple of forced battle sections, I didn't have any real issues with it.

The only other thing was that the falling off buildings scared my then-girlfriend so much that she wouldn't be in the same room as me while I played it...but I guess that maybe counts as a plus too?

@MNeko

you should watch some of the youtube videos of people doing speed runs if you think it's unplayable.

those videos make me think that this is one of the most underrated games of this gen. There are just so many different ways to get through a level

@MNeko What? There's a button for "up" actions, a button for "down" actions, a button for disarming, and a button for attacking. If you think that's overly complicated, I weep for you.

Sorry you sucked at it. I thought it was one of the most amazing games I'd played in years. In fact, I LOVED the complex wall-jump kick-off maneuvers, and how you had to crouch into rolls upon landing. It actually put some skill into the parkour, as opposed to Assassin's Creed parkour-EZmode... which, in the first Assassin's Creed I felt was a pretty big weakness, since there wasn't much else interesting going on in the game.. In AC2, it was still EZ-mode parkour, but it was abundantly clear that it wasn't the focus of the game, and the game was excellent because of it.

In Mirror's Edge, the focus WAS the parkour, and I thought they did a great job creating gameplay around it.

Awesome, I've wanted to play this since Justin talked about playing it on his iPad. I recently got my first iPhone (4S) and now I see that the games are not as bad, or stereotypical, as I had thought. I also got the iPad version just in case I end up with one :)

I've got no friends on Game Center :(

Mirror's Edge (the original game) is still one of my favorites in terms of new ideas. I mean, it was probably the first 3D parkour game to be successful, and it definitely was a good game (other than the repetitive level designs). I think a Mirror's Edge 2 needs to be made.

Except for the part where EA wants to take a crap on the sequel by making it heavily shooter related and focusing on multiplayer. Who wants another Brink?

Still not worth the price without buttons. Precision is really important in this game. In fact, you could probably use this a method of punishment.

Disagree. I hate games with virtual d-pads, but this game does not use one. The swipe controls are not cumbersome at all and IMO they are more responsive than, say, the swipe controls in Out of this World.

Of course, the biggest thing that makes it playable is that it's just not that difficult. You don't have to swipe all that often.
