Update: It looks like this is only for actual physical Lego sets, based on the New Line Cinemas adaptations of The Lord of the Rings series and next year's The Hobbit. We apologize for the erroneous report.
Original story:
J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings franchise is the latest to receive a Lego adaptation, a new teaser site suggests. All we've been given is a "Summer 2012" timeframe, which we don't get because summer in The Shire is, like, the best time. The best time. Why would any Hobbit leave?
We've reached out to Warner Bros. for more information. Right now, we're assuming Lego Lord of the Rings is coming to every platform imaginable, but until we hear back we'll leave it open.

Jumping the gun - Lego have announced they'll be making LOTR TOYS but not the enevitable game. So game existence not confirmed!

this is one lego spin off I might just bite.
I really enjoyed the indiana jones demo but never got the game. Typically I've avoided all the lego games.

How will they contain each movie into just six levels?
Even though it's cool, I don't think this will resonate as much to me as LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Harry Potter did.

How could he hold the ring if it were that small, though?
We're committing a sin. Never question the ways of the Lego universe.

Ohhh I love the LEGO games and while I know the game hasn't been announced yet, its only a matter of time now...
Wasn't the LOTR license for building toys owned by Mega-Bloks? I thought I read that is why there was never a LEGO game for the LOTR series yet...

YES SIR YES!
We just had a commenter on here the other day explaining his want for this.
I've had my mind set on this as well. What LOTR fan/gamer wouldn't?

And hey now, how coincidental this is announced just as The Hobbit trailer was just announced to be running with The Adventures of Tintin next week.
Times like these are good ones.

I'm spreading the word of your grand idea. This must, for the sake of the universe, happen.

It doesn't. You pull off frodo's head, and put it around his neck, and replace the head. Boom.
Besides, you NEVER actually wear the ring! That's just bad juju.
