Neal Tiles steps down as president of G4, Adam Stotsky takes over

Neal Tiles, formerly president of the G4 television network, stepped down earlier today, and parent company NBCUniversal has announced that Adam Stotsky will take his place. Stotsky is a former president of marketing at NBC, but now will head up the entire G4 network, overseeing everything from programming to publicity and digital operations.

Stotsky is the first big appointment by recently appointed NBCU president Bonnie Hammer, who picked up oversight of G4 and E! last year when Comcast merged with NBC Universal. We don't know exactly what Stotsky plans to put on the schedule at G4 going forward, but if he's taking any cues from his predecessor, it's probably lots more Cheaters and Cops.

Never say never. I learned that lesson many moons ago. We have no idea just how far it can go. You may wake up to it filled entirely with shitty shows that have nothing to do with gaming.

Lets be serious here. It CAN'T get any worse. It's just really, really sad. If it was managed with even the slightest bit of business sense (or even common sense for that matter) it could have proliferated as quickly as SpikeTV...and if that were the case, the gaming industry wouldn't have to be embarrassed every year by the shit show that is the spiketv game awards and, alternatively on G4, the subject matter would be treated with some measurable level of respect.

My dad watches more G4 than me because Cops is always on. That's not good.

Ninja Warrior is fabulous. Why on Earth they made the madman-decision to broadcast more rubbishy Campus PD instead of the awesomeness of.Ninja Warrior is beyond any sense.

Sessler's good and I feel his opinions are honest but geez that dude has the most annoying voice in the world!

How about a decent video game review show that isn't bias toward everything but X-Box, or puts down Nintendo every chance it gets? Probably not, but hey it could happen.

@NintendorkZ - X-Play is moderately decent. If I'm flipping through channels and I notice X-Play is on, I'll watch it for a little bit just to listen to The Sess or look at Morgan if what is on at the moment strikes my fancy.

X-Play used to not be that way and used to be fairly balanced when they started out.

Still, they can't but help to address the Nintendo bashing. It's like they expect their audience to be into a certain thing (like shooters mainly) because that's they are into and not to notice them being extra critical towards Nintendo's games but not to anyone else (COD: MW3 earning a 5 out of 5 mainly).

i noticed the Nintendo bashing, but has anyone noticed how patronizing they get towards Sony. If they ever release a 5/5 star game they make it sound like Sony is the little train that could and that one day it will get to the halo/gears level. Adam is a tool and sounds like a douche, Morgan is alright at best (unless she has that fake black short hair with bangs, gross)

I want Judgment Day back, two authentic opinions on my game reviews that broke down the pros and the cons, and gave two scores actually done by the reviewers (Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb don't actually review the games, they just read the G4TV.com reviews and add their own spin to it. You think Morgan Webb actually played Metroid Other M, and then bashed the crap out of it without her own real opinion?).

@NintendorkZ The Nintendo bashing is out of hand over there. Even from Adam Sessler, who is one of the most respectable and veteran journalists out there. He is exceptional, despite his association with what became G4. That said, he still is coming from a pretty jaded place that few gamers can relate with in terms of some of his biases. Otherwise he is top notch.

Genuinely everybody else on those shows are embarrassing to me. Truly. Watch Feedback and take a shot every time someone reminds you of that kid who just discovered how rad Halo is.

It's not like Adam Sessler made EVO embarrassing or anything, right guys?

I think that G4 has actually gotten a *smidge* better over the last year. I don't see nearly as much Cheaters on as a year ago.

First things first: get rid of Cheaters and Cops and put more Nerd shows on. I'd like to see Kids in the Hall or MacGyver. I'd say Quantum Leap too but that comes on some other channel.

They are showing 2 different Quantum Leap episodes weekdays on G4 now, so you got your wish.

Only good thing about G4 is their E3 coverage and Comicon.

I'm with you on that. I miss TechTV so much. There used to be something interesting on the channel almost all the time back when I was in middle school and high school. Plus, they would air some anime.
Then came the merger with G4, and I think the programming for both channels suffered because of it. Then the TechTV portion was dissolved. Then G4 forgot it was a video game network and tried to be a "men's network" like Spike... and now I don't even care that DirecTV dropped it.

TechTV had the same problems as G4, theyd do like 20 hours of Thunder Birds and that british robot wars show then 4 hours of original programming.

I like AOTS but the Screen Savers was better. G4 needs to bring that show back, it would be a great idea for them to have an internet culture news show along with an Engadget style real news show.

Please tell me this will return the network to geek culture. Or even some tech shows. I want Code Monkeys season 3.

Yes!

The best thing G4 could do right now is rerun or remake some of the programs from their early days and the G4TechTV period.

I can't be the only one who misses the British Robot Wars series. Hell, that's where my internet moniker came from. Razer is and always will be the best robot.

As a game industry reporter, I don't mind G4. One of the better outlets out there, but still not on the Joystiq-level of quality.

But as a channel, that's a different story. And yet, I still enjoy X-Play, I'll be truthful.

Tech tv= Awesome shows about new technology and how to use it!

G4= All the gaming news and reviews you would ever need!

Tech tv+G4= All the Cops you could ever want!

I was going to say I hope it gets better but then I remembered I don't even get G4 any more since DTV dropped it.

If they're gonna broadcast an old cop show for 20 hours a day, can we at least get some Night Court on afterwards to see how all the scum back in the day were truly rehabilitated, with laughter, Judge Harry Stone, Dan Fielding, and BULL.

@negativecool The only reason spike proliferated so quickly is because of the UFC. I mean it definitely wasn't the wrestling and 1000 ways to die mixed with auction and car shows that got them any mainstream appeal.

Yeah.. I'm not gonna hold my breath for any worthwhile changes or restructuring of this network. I stopped watching it many years ago. I saw an ad in a old magazine from 2003 or so the other day, with a full page spread for G4 and all their shows when they were getting started. I really loved watching pretty much all of them, namely Portal, Icons, Judgment Day, and the name escapes me of the other one, but it was the show about competetive gaming where two teams would go head to head on games like Call of Duty, SOCOM, etc.

@PhoenixII You'd be thinking of Arena. Pretty sure that was Kevin Pereira (however the hell he spells it)'s first show at G4.
And yeah, the 13-year old kid that had only played Nintendo back then was wowed by UT2003. Lucky me, I still have my copy from a garage sale.

Maybe if they had any NEW shows of Cops and Cheaters, it'd be marginally watchable, only if there's absolutely nothing to watch, laptop and handhelds are dead, can't play consoles when family has the TV and it's a Sunday. But it's all goddamn reruns.

Tech Tv(aka G4)was way better than it is now.I miss the good game shows they had,cinematech,the judgement,wired for sex,anime,and many stuff.I miss how things were.I am tired of this whole reality tv fad everyone is going for.Why not be classic?:(

I want Cinematech back. It was cool to watch unaired trailers and clips for popular games and games we never heard of, or even games we'll never get because they were Japan-only games.

The return of Code Monkeys and anime might be nice, as would the removal of all the obnoxious host personalities (i.e. everyone but Adam Sessler - he can stay).
