Put these cute Zelda figures from Japan in your pocket
15
The cheap-toy twist-knob machines lining grocery stores and movie theaters across the western world don't contain Zelda figures, which makes them more proof that Japan is way cooler than everyone else, ever. Takara Tomy Arts is offering six gashapon figurines direct from Japan, including characters from The Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword. Import specialist NCS is taking pre-orders for the collection, dubbed the Zelda Figure Collection, for shipment in April.
For $30 you can get two tiny Links, a Tetra, Zelda, child Link and child Zelda. Even with import costs, it's much cheaper than a plane trip to Japan and the 100-yen coins you'd have to spend on cool toy capsules.

This is pretty cool, but you can just as easily get them on eBay in an entire set for around the same price, if not cheaper.

This is the entire set, Joystiq must've gotten their information wrong. The link given for the pre-order includes all 6 figures, at least that's what the page says. Copied and pasted from the link:
Each figure is packed in a plastic capsule and the toys are normally sold in gashapon dispensers where the luck of the draw decides which figure you'll receive when the dispenser knob is turned. For the sake of completion, NCS will gather together the six different figures and supply them in complete sets at the price of US$28.90 each. Reservations are welcome to ship in mid-late April 2012.
I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like they're selling all 6 for 28.90 each, which doesn't include shipping (Mine was $10 for shipping).

Nevermind, Joystiq didn't get their information wrong. I thought they were just repeating what they were saying, by "Two tiny Links, Tetra/Zelda, Child Link and Child Zelda". I'm an idiot who was thinking Joystiq was the idiot. :P

Isn't that what the article says? (or was it changed later?)
"For just $30 you can get two tiny Links, a Tetra, Zelda, child Link and child Zelda, which is much cheaper than a plane trip to Japan and the 100-yen coins you'd have to spend at the actual machines."

So just pretend it's Wind Waker, it'd be the same either way.
Besides, Phantom Hourglass was still a great game. The story was pretty weak for a Zelda game, but otherwise the game excelled. I do with they'd went with Spirit Tracks but oh well.
This is a pretty cool set, but it's hard to justify the $40 this will cost after shipping for what amounts to probably just a couple dollars of plastic. I wish we could get these here, but it probably wouldn't be much better at retail seeing as how the Mario "figurines" this same size come in 8 packs for $35 dollars.

@Vic Fontaine Hey I didn't say it wasn't a good game. I just pointed out the Phantom Hourglass logo.
