@sserschens Because it's 30% more? What if $60 retail games cost $78 on PS3? $3 is a LOT when the standard price is only $10.

Nobody at their studio foresaw this problem? Every other game comes out in the US at regular, even prices. Let's say this is the first international game. They want you to vote if the game should be cheaper, but because they have to communicate the new price change to Sony and they have to change it on their PSN network they will make the game release a week later?

Why not just lower the price now because they know gamers will want that and try to release it at the same time? This is bad PR.

I really don't understand the big deal. I mean yea it's $3 but at the same time it's ONLY $3. I mean I'm not even someone who's super wealthy, my financial situation is rocky at the moment but I don't see the point of complaining about $3. That's just me though. I kind of understand it, but at the same time I don't.

I don't think its the $3 that people are necessarily complaining about, but the fact that its been hyped for PSN since its release and then they announce it at a higher price point. If both had been priced at $13, there wouldn't have been any complaining.

$3.. sure. My issue with it is, why should I have to pay more for the same game?

If the xbox version was $12.99 also I would have NO reason paying that price. Just hope when it launches at 12.99 theres a PSN+ deal to knock it down to the same price :|

Then just vote for them to drop the price and wait a week.

I have a feeling this will probably be the choice that goes through anyway.

Sony's US blog has been giving this game free publicity since the game was announced. Something MS hasn't done. Then they announce the price to be higher in America for PSN.

This excuse is suspect since they didn't release the EU version at 13 Pounds or 13 Euros but they want to keep MS's points the same across all regions. Plus, I doubt it is difficult to make it 1000 MS points in NA.

I'll vote for those who want to still buy it, but this left a bad taste in my mouth and I suspect they lost a few sales because of it.

I'd be fairly confident in saying that making it 1000 MS points in a different region would not be that easy.

Apart from GoD titles which are based on a $$ value rather then points, items cost the same point value across all regions. Its the reason why MS used points in the first place so that they could just set a standard price for items and then adjust the cost of the points based on the region.

That's bullshit.

The real reason was probably that the Xbox version would sell more b/c of the larger install base. So they could justify going with a cheaper price there, whereas with the PSN version, to make the same amount, they'd have to in price it higher since fewer estimated people would buy it there. It has nothing to do with MS point conversions and the mysterious inability to do simple math proportion.

What the hell?

On the poll, there's not even a choice for "price it $10 across both platforms."

It's either "no, the price is good as is for $13 on PSN" or "$10 as on Xbox Live, but a delayed release date."

F u c k that. It should be "$10 across the board, both platforms, and XBOX LIVE gets it at some other later release date."

Sick of the ps3 owners being treated like 3rd world citizens. This's almost worse than the MW3 Elite garbage. "yeah, we'll take your $50 first and then let you get whatever DLC a full month later."

What? Why would they delay the game on the system that's already at the right price; that doesn't make a lick of sense. They probably have to put in a request to change the price with sony, which bumps it back to the next available date. It's 7 extra days; not everything is some orchestrated insult against you.

UGH, this is stupid and I don't even own a PS3. Why price it differently in the first place ? Are you telling me that developers and marketers in their cast wisdom couldn't understand basic exchange rates?

Or perhaps they're trying to get people to like them on Facebook in order to advertise to them?

I mean really, there should be ABSOLUTELY no other post in here other than this is completely bereft of treating their customers properly.

And this ISN'T an xbox vs ps3 argument. It should be uniform for all consumers regardless of where they've been publicizing.

In Europe, they are the same price; it's only in the US that there's a difference.

Somewhere someone is going to have a different price for the two platforms (that is, as you said, the nature of exchange rates). The question is whether that ends up being the US paying more for the PS3 version or Europe paying more for the 360 version.

Why are people getting so upset?

The game was set to be ten euros across the board. The company is european, so it makes sense we start the issue there. Things are fine.

They then go to send it to America. To make sure the game is still ten euros, they convert the price to dollars. It comes out at 12.99 on Sony's pricing structure. Now, due to XBox having points, they assumed that conversion prices should mean 800 points at 10 euro here would be 800 points at 10 euro in America, or 12.99 also.

It was a silly assumption to make, but I can see where they're coming from.

They find out they screwed up, but instead of just saying"PRICE SWITCH! One week del;ay. Deal with it." or "Price is staying higher. Tough. Deal with it." They let people vote, saying "We will drop the price, but Sony will delay the game a week due to price restructuring. It'll be out of our hands. Which do you think you'd rather put up with? We won't make the decision for you.".

If you're going to get mad at Lexis Numérique, also gert mad at Sony for their slow-ass pricing system, and Microsoft for the nebulous points system, because all three are contributing factors.

I've never liked points based currency systems.
It makes me dislike buying things from stuff like Xbox Live and lots of online games because it causes all sorts of really awkward little situations like this.

Not only that, I dont see ANY benefits to it other than maybe people being a bit more careless with the amount there spending and the company getting a bit more money.

Because of that I always buy a game on psn or steam over xbla, its just much more pleasant when it actually tells you the exact amount of money that you are spending nice and clearly.

@perpetualmind

One of the reasons it takes Sony europe so long to sort things on the EU PSN is because they have to deal with all the different currency types in the Euro zone, and make sure prices match up accordingly, due to taxes and whatnot.

With points, they're just that. Points. The purchasing of the points handles all the taxing issues, which is much more efficient.

What Microsoft did that causes such weird pricing anomalies is make it that 1000 points don't equal 10 dollars.

@perpetualmind The only advantage is can see is that Microsoft Points can be discounted, unlike iTunes and PSN cards.
2100 points is £16 on amazon, while buying it directly from xbox live would cost roughly £17.85

I know a lot of people don't like the point as a currency, but I absolutely love it b/c I hardly pay the full price for points when I purchase them in bulk. I also like the pseudo security I feel when I don't use my credit card on the Microsoft eco system. Yes, I don't like seeing unusable changes every so often, but I buy stuff from Microsoft eco system (e.g. zune market, XBL, etc) so it doesn't bother me much. I do think that Microsoft should allow me to donate unusable points to childs play or other online donation sites so I can clear them up every so often, but I am okay either way. I am a relatively patient buyer and points card seems go on discount sales frenzies a lot more often than some people think. I believe I am getting the best value by sticking with the points.
