Dark Souls admin suggests PC could happen with a petition
75
Petitions come and petitions go, but when an employee of Namco Bandai suggests Dark Souls could get ported to PC with a few thousand signatures, we take notice. Administrator shoupinou responded to a request for a PC version of Dark Souls with the following advice:
"There is always possibilities to have games adapted on PC and the good news is that Dark Souls is not a 100% typical Console game so the adaptation is possible. Now to make things happen, let's say the demand has to be properly done. someone to make a successful petition?"
There is a petition gathering steam as we speak -- 36,668 signatures as of this writing -- and if you're a PC or Dark Souls fan, we don't see any danger in adding your own to the fight. Unless the CIA is using it to compile a list of suspected terrorists or something.

An admin on the forums asked if their was "interest".
I'm not saying it's not going to happen, but don't get your hopes up.

My hopes are more low hoping that they´d actually make a good pc version. If they end up doing the same crap that Rocksteady did with Arkham city with the huge bug with DX11 which they haven´t really fixed so far. if that the kind of quality that they´d give to a p.c. port, i think i´d prefer to invest my money on something else.

Dark Souls is not that heavily reliant on MP. If anything up until the latest patches it was heavily distorted against MP.

Sales of The Witcher 2 would say "Yes".
According to CD Projeckt an estimated 1 million sales, and over 5 million downloads- that they know about.
How about other games?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/16406952
Note that MW3 and BF3 were only released 2-3 months ago.
Regardless, I'll just keep playing the game on my 360 until the PC version comes out, and then buy it again to support From Software, because somebody has to.

As a newly converted PC gamer, I'd love to see this. But if I had to cave and get it on a console I'm sure it won't be a huge difference between the graphics and framerate. And it's not like I wouldn't use a controller for it anyway.
It would probably be really cheap on Steam too.
Ugh I need to play so many games already, I need to stay focused ha

@D3m0sthenes ignoring the modding possibilities. :)
With PC community it would not even take a week till Dark Souls gets a spankin UBERHIGHRES texture update mod weight 500gb, removal of any sort of framerate limitations and 3x increase in difficulty mods :)

@D3m0sthenes I recently made the switch too. I even traded my PS3 for my mom's Blu-Ray player! I'm consistently more satisfied with my PC than a console. Steam sales really help that opinion, too :)

@D3m0sthenes You obviously have not played Dark Souls. On both consoles there's heavy frame rate drops at various points in the game and the online system is plauged with network issues that would not exist in a PC version. If they would exist in a PC version, people would make their own networking system to get around it.
@Everyone: Like others have said, modding capabilities alone would be godly. Improved textures and performance is just a bonus IMO. I'd still use my ps3 controller (motion in joy ftw) because I'm use to it, but I can't even list the amount of mod ideas I alone have for this game.

Always nice to hear that they would consider it. I'd almost buy it simply out of principle. (It being a supposed good game always helps)
Though, they should be warned that no PC port should be taken lightly. If you screw it up, that burn is hard to heal and you pretty much did the exact opposite of what you intended.
Console gamers don't want a crappy, glitchy game and neither do PC gamers. Only port if you can do it right.

@Mmmmz The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series says hi. On PC, fans tend to be pretty willing to make improvements to games that're shipped broken, so I don't think that a bad port/conversion would necessarily hurt in this case. Obviously, I'd prefer a solid release over a broken one, though.

I'd rather have Armored Core 5 on PC. While Dark Souls with a fixed framerate and higher resolution would be nice, I doubt I'd pay full price for it again.
Not to mention how rampant exploits and hacking would be. They were bad enough on the 360, and my past experiences with Japanese devs and multiplayer PC games have not been encouraging.
Still signed it just because I'd like to see From consider PC as a platform more seriously. It's VERY fitting for them, and IIRC the only PC game they ever made was a port of Ninja Blade.

It feels good man. I finally get it. The initial cost (for me) was high but I already have 40 something games in about two months. The price of starting out is totally worth it with Steam. I'm already looking at laptops so I can hook it up at friends and stuff. Also, my biggest issue no longer exists with how widespread Xbox 360 controller options are in games.
Unfortunately my friends are poor and so I still need my 360 and PS3.

PC would be great if they also released an SDK for some hot mods. Lord knows the community for Dark Souls would delve into that as hard the the Skyrim community seems to have done.

I signed. I think a PC port's greatest value might be in longevity. Long after the console servers have been shut down, PC gamers will either still have servers for it, or will have figured out a way to direct connect for co-op and PVP tournaments.

Everyone please sign. A good port of Dark Souls for PC would be amazing.
No more near-single digit and/or very low frame rate issues, HD graphics instead of sub-HD, and it's a great game that would fit the PC community.
I already bought the game for PS3, but I would love for it to be released on PC and I would buy it again.
Here is a video TB created a few days ago, explains why Dark Souls should be on PC.

They want us to show our demand!

It would be only worth if they nail the mouse controls to perfection - no input lag, acceleration, smoothing, etc, otherwise, what would be the point?
