Inversion has had an official launch date of February 7, 2012, for over a year now, but retail listings are shifting to note otherwise. Both GameFly, which lists launch info based on publisher data, and GameStop now present a release date of March 27.
Originally announced back in 2009, Inversion was supposed to hit shelves sometime in 2010, back when Namco was still trying out new IP. We've contacted Namco Bandai for official confirmation of the delay.

Damn, played this at E3 last year and had a BALL with it! Looking forward to it and hope the extra time will be used to polish it up.

@Ellimem Yea, the first few minutes felt weird to me. Then I got used to the controls an started racking up kills....probably because my opponents were distracted by Jessica Chobot, who was standing directly behind us doing a story on the game, lol.

Thank GOD! There is so many releases I want in the next few weeks. It's not even funny. FFXIII-2, Soul Calibur V, Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend, Binary Domain, Mass Effect III, Silent Hill Downpour, and there is probably more. So broke, so easily

Wow, how have I not noticed this game before now? This looks pretty sweet. Like a cross between Gears of War, Bulletstorm, and maybe even some Dead Space (based on the skull-stomping I saw in the trailer from August) but with some interesting twists and additions. Looks like it could be a hell of a lot of fun to play.

If I didn't have a huge backlog, this drought would piss me off. The last major releases were way back in November.

My first thought after reading the article title was:
"What the hell kinda title is 'Retailers: Inversion' for a game?"
If Hank Hill were here, he'd say "That boy ain't right."

What's the gameplay gimmick on this one? This isn't the one where you can manipulate the age of things, is it?
Looks sort of like it stole from the ideas of other popular games. Gears and Uncharted.
Let's hope that they have some solid gameplay and a good story instead of just trying to repackage what other studios have innovated.

Inversion is where you can manipulate an object's gravity. Make it lighter (i.e. float up in the air or move it around easily) or make it heavier (i.e. fall to the ground or stay put in one spot).
Singularity is the game where you can manipulate the age of things. Also, TimeShift is the one where you can manipulate time in the short term (seconds and minutes, instead of Singularity's years or decades).
And lifting ideas from other games is done all the time. Even Gears and Uncharted lifted ideas from games that came before them. There's nothing wrong with that; the key is to DO IT WELL. ;-)
*Skillful* imitation is the sincerest form of flattery; *clumsy* imitation is the crudest insult.

@FinderKeeper
Thanks for the info.
Yes, there is nothing wrong with borrowing good ideas from other devs, just as long as it is done well. Gameplay is what we are ultimately playing the most important factor of a game, imo.

Destined to be a bargain bin game, sadly.

They really turned that release date on its head.

I played this game at Eurogamer and I didn't really like it, plus it looked different to how it looks now. It reminded me of a Gears 1 in a gravity infuenced world. Just didn't really do it for me.
Here's a thought though.
you can control the gravity in which you stand on or your enemy, but you can also control the gravity of the bullets, too?
