Indie Game: The Movie is really good, apparently -- writers, directors, producers, editors and camera crew James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot won Best Editing in the Sundance World Cinema Documentary Competition last night. We offer a sincere, hearty congratulations to Swirsky and Pajot, and anything else that gets Indie Game: The Movie closer to a widespread release (and we mean anything).
Swirsky and Pajot reflected on the overwhelming sensations in winning the award on the Indie Game: The Movie blog: "We can not tell you how much this means to us and how completely and utterly our minds are blown. We shot over 300 hours of footage in making this film, and the edit was, by far, the most difficult aspect of the process. We couldn't be more proud to receive this award."
More screenings are sure to come -- keep an eye here for updates.

I'll pre-order in the next few days. However, they're saying a Blu-Ray release may be possible, and I'm thinking of how gorgeous the cinematography (a popular aspect of the film) will look on that format.
Don't know if I can endure a wait much longer, though.

If it's anywhere near as good as King of Kong, I will see this ASAP.

They had an interview with these two on our local news before they left for Sundance. Great win for video games and Winnipegers! Power up!!

I want to see it, but I dunno if winning Best Editing confirms it is really good.

What's the point of shooting hundreds of hours of footage if most of it gets cut in the editing process?

Definitely getting the Special Edition. I'm sure a lot of the footage that didn't make the film will be more interesting for me. That footage will probably appeal more towards the gamer, since they had to edit with non-gamers in mind. I'm sure the move itself will still be great though. I just have more interest in the actual game development. Boring stuff to some, I suppose.

I saw this at Sundance last week and.... I'm gonna go with a "Meh" rating. It was interesting to see what went into Braid/Super Meat Boy/Fez but there wasnt anything beyond pointing a camera at some dudes and letting them do their thing.
