Hey, you! With the sticky fingers! A new raccoon-based simulator to help enhance your craft is coming, and you'll want to pay attention. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time has been given the less ambiguous release window of "this fall" on PlayStation 3.
Though the game is developed by Sanzaru Games and not the franchise's creators at Sucker Punch Productions, it's not in unfamiliar hands. Sly Cooper's HD debut, which brought the trio of PS2 originals to the PS3, was developed by Sanzaru, and they did a mighty fine job with it.
The fourth installment in Sly's universe gives players control of his family tree, throwing players in multiple locales, including ancient Japan. But wait, you ask as you Google the same information as us, weren't raccoons only introduced to Japan in the 1960s? Clearly the game is not as realistic as we thought. But the animals talk, so that makes it slightly more realistic.
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time also features collectible costumes, granting the bandit bold new powers, as well as a continuation of the franchise's open-world design philosophy, according to the PlayStation Blog.
We sure hope Bentley, the wheelchair-bound turtle, isn't jumping through time for this adventure. We're not sure how accessible ancient temples are.

This game not being made by Sucker Punch has me wary...

I wouldn't be all that concerned. Play Sly 3 and notice how bogged down it is with minigames. Sucker Punch isn't necessarily that great.

I'm so hyped for this game! Once this is in my console, I need only wait for a next gen Jak game, since Ratchet and Sly are covered.
Also, still wondering if you got an opening for typo editor, Joystiq.

@UnverifiedUser Haha, still funny how we called the 360 and PS3 next-gen consoles 5 years in. : P

I bought my PS3 on Black Friday at around 200$ for the Console, 2 controllers, and Infamous, RaC, and Uncharted 1. The REAL reason I bought it was for THIS game!

... And watch it get buried in the annual deluge of games that time of year.
I hope it's good, but bad time to release it.

They can have all my money if there are less minigames, and more core gameplay.

@Yuglyoshi That's the one thing I hated about Sly 3. So many damn minigames. Actually, there was also something else I didn't like, and that was the new characters. Just let me play as Sly, maybe Bentley and Murray on occasion, but please don't make me play the Panda King, or annoying Penelope.

Just because Sanzaru ported the game doesn't mean that they are experts at it. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I am nervous as to how it will turn out.

this, uncharted, the last of us, god of war, and so many others are reasons i should get a ps3.

I'll have to disagree that "they did a mighty fine job with" Sly 1. Mono audio, no bottle sounds to listen for, and they completely ruined most of the best tunes by remixing them, including completely botching the song during the Mz. Ruby battle. Plus other minor audio bugs.

As a person who never owned the Sly games on PS2 (but did dabble in the first one at one time) I feel obliged to say they did a really good job in my eyes.

I must say, as a late-comer to the Sly series with the Sly Collection, I am very much looking forward to this. All of the previous Sly games withstand the test of time, and I know that this one will only build on that.
