This is the same version that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/21/portabliss-another-world-20th-anniversary-edition-ios/">appeared on iOS systems</a> a little while ago..<br /><br />The Anniversary Edition of the game includes the ability to switch between old-school and updated graphics with just a swipe of your fingers, as well as both original and remastered soundtracks, controls made just for the touchscreen, and three different difficulty modes. Fans can <a href="http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/98156/?lang=en">pick up the game for $4.99</a> on BlackBerry's AppWorld ecosystem right now.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/13/another-world-anniversary-edition-comes-to-blackberry-10/">Another World: Anniversary Edition comes to BlackBerry 10</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Feb 2013 02:00:00 EST. Currently, the only device that runs BlackBerry 10 is the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/30/blackberry-z10-review/">BlackBerry Z10</a>, which is available in the UK and Canada, but won't make it to carriers in the United States until March.<br /><br />"This wasn't originally something I had lined up," Cavanagh <a href="http://distractionware.com/blog/2013/02/super-hexagon-now-available-for-blackberry-10/">writes</a>. "Laurence Muller, who ported the C++ openFrameworks version of the game to Android, has an interest in BlackBerry - he maintains the unofficial Blackberry port of openFrameworks. So when Blackberry came along and asked us to do the port, we figured, let's give it a shot!"<br /><br />The game can be purchased from BlackBerry World, either on the Z10 or <a href="http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/22507872/">online</a>, for $2.99. Now all we need are PlayStation Vita and 3DS ports, and Cavanagh's mobile market saturation will be absolute.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/09/super-hexagon-brings-concentric-chiptune-madness-to-blackberry-1/">Super Hexagon brings concentric chiptune madness to BlackBerry 10</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 09 Feb 2013 19:30:00 EST. In this <a href="http://www.marco.org/2011/08/12/tablets-vs-obscure-video-game-consoles">chart of non-iPad tablets compared to "obscure" video game consoles</a>, the BlackBerry PlayBook is somewhere between the Philips CDi and the Atari Jaguar. That is to say, the PlayBook hasn't set the world, or really much of anything, on fire. Google's Android OS, on the other hand, is increasingly taking over the mobile space (albeit not the tablet space, where all Android tablets combined are somewhere between the 3DO and the Virtual Boy).<br />
<br />
While gaming on Android is still something of a challenge, thanks to a fragmented install base, unique platforms, and multiple stores, that hasn't stopped EA from giving it the ol' college effort. So Xperia Play owners can go to EA's own Flexion Android Store to download EA Mobile and IronMonkey Studios' excellent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/22/dead-space-iphone-preview-small-scale-scares/"><em>Dead Space</em></a> mobile game -- easy! We weren't able to confirm that ourselves, not owning an Xperia Play, so we've put a word into EA for confirmation.<br />
<br />
But EA didn't stop there - it's also ported <em>Dead Space</em> to the PlayBook. Premiering today for the same $9.99 price as its far more popular iPad-based twin, the PlayBook audience is getting one of mobile gaming's most successful "core" games. And yes, it's a small audience (smaller than the Xperia Play?) but if EA plans to continue its mobile dominance, it helps to be everywhere.<br />
<br />

The heralded 2001 board game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/carcassonne"><em>Carcassonne</em></a>, designed by Klaus-J&uuml;rgen Wrede of Germany, has already been quite excellently adapted for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/27/carcassonne-tiles-onto-arcade/">XBLA</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/05/get-some-carcassonne-on-your-iphone-and-ipod-touch/">iOS</a>, by two different developers no less. Now a third, German studio exozet, is working on a version for Android, BlackBerry and Java-based mobile platforms.<br />
<br />
Teased on an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xperia-play/">Xperia Play</a> handset, exozet's adaptation looks to crisply capture the popular game -- which centers on building cities and deploying followers called "meeple" -- on the little screen. It's due out by <strike>year's end</strike> the end of Q2.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/18/carcassonne-coming-in-android-blackberry-flavors/">Carcassonne coming in Android, BlackBerry flavors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 18 Mar 2011 19:26:00 EST. EA has announced that it will have both <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/need-for-speed-undercover"><em>Need for Speed Undercover</em></a> and <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/tetris"><em>Tetris</em></a> available to play on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet as soon as it launches this spring. Both titles are currently available on iOS, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/01/ea-boasts-record-breaking-quarter-on-ios-thanks-to-well-timed/">considering the success EA has had</a> on that platform, it's a no-brainer to have these games ready to go when the PlayBook is finally released.<br />

Both games will be playable at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain next week, though presumably they'll be more or less the same as the previous mobile versions. Fun fact: the PlayBook version of <em>Tetris</em> marks the 15th platform EA has released the game on so far.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/11/ea-plans-need-for-speed-undercover-tetris-for-blackberry-playbo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EA plans Need for Speed Undercover, Tetris for BlackBerry PlayBook launch</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/11/ea-plans-need-for-speed-undercover-tetris-for-blackberry-playbo/">EA plans Need for Speed Undercover, Tetris for BlackBerry PlayBook launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Feb 2011 09:00:00 EST. Do you have a powerful need to know how valuable your used games are while <em>on the go</em>? If so, you may want to take a gander at the <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/best-buy-gaming/id376193375?mt=8#">Best Buy Gaming mobile app</a>. The latest version has added a new trade-in valuator, which allows you to learn <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/best-buy-begins-used-game-trade-in-program/">how many bucks a given game will fetch</a> at your nearest Best Buy. You can even find a game's value by scanning its barcode with your device's camera. Frankly, even if you're not looking to pawn your old junk for the new hotness, there's no denying that it's just fun to scan things.<br />
<br />
The Best Buy Gaming app is available for free on iOS, Android and Blackberry.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/30/best-buy-mobile-app-adds-trade-in-valuator/">Best Buy mobile app adds trade-in valuator</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 30 Nov 2010 06:00:00 EST. The <em>Guitar Hero </em>machine is set to spit out <em>Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile: Backstage Pass</em> for major carriers, including the Android Market and BlackBerry App World. The latest no-peripheral (unless you count the phone) entry in the music series was developed by Hands-On Mobile, which is <a href="http://www.guitarheromobile.com/worldtour/overview.php">no stranger to miniaturized music games</a>.<br />
<br />
If you're wondering how much money there is to be made from a <em>Guitar Hero</em> title without any peripherals, just look to <em>Guitar Hero III Mobile.</em> Maybe you even <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/guitar-hero-iii-mobile-sells-a-million/">bought it</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/13/guitar-hero-world-tour-mobile-backstage-pass-coming-to-android/">Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile: Backstage Pass coming to Android, Blackberry</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 May 2010 20:30:00 EST. We won't feign ignorance to the fact that the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/iPhone/">iPhone</a> isn't the only mobile device on the market with a growing game library. Taito seems to agree, <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/08/27/taito-is-in-the-blackberry-games-business/">refusing to leave Blackberry users in the dark</a> for new gaming content. The classic game dev has revealed two of its prized licenses -- <em>Space Invaders</em> and <em>Bust-a-Move</em> -- are now available for the working man/woman's mobile device. Each title is available for $4.99 and features two control schemes: Touch screen control and using the device's keys. So, the next time you spot a frustrated business person in public eyeballing a Blackberry, just assume they're trying to beat a high score and not doing <em>real</em> work.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/30/space-invaders-bust-a-move-headed-to-blackberry/">Space Invaders, Bust-a-Move headed to Blackberry</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 30 Aug 2009 13:30:00 EST. Okay, so our fully-functioning Pip-Boy is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/08/ces-2009-real-pip-boy-revealed-vault-tec-stock-soars/">currently in development</a>, and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/modder-crafts-working-pip-boy-3000-using-ipod-touch/#continued">iPhone version</a> didn't exactly hit the spot. Thankfully, the BlackBerry skin is awfully close to fulfilling our <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/fallout-3">Fallout</a></em> dreams. Modder sadosdemetrios has created a functioning Pip-Boy homescreen for the Blackberry, available for free at <a href="http://forums.crackberry.com/f126/pipboy-3000-v1-5b-g-83xx-curve-182938/">Crackberry</a>, in your choice of green or blue.<br /><br />The modder is currently accepting donations for his hard work -- please donate generously! The closer we get to inventing the <em>real</em> Pip-Boy, the closer we are to nuclear annihilation. And then, like <a href="http://www.easports.com/">EA Sports</a>, we'll be<em> in the game</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5218452/pip+berry-3000">Kotaku</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/functional-pip-boy-mod-for-blackberry/">Functional Pip-Boy mod for BlackBerry</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Apr 2009 14:30:00 EST. The founder of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ea">EA</a> and mobile developer Digital Chocolate, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/triphawkins">Trip Hawkins</a>, thinks iPhone is the best thing since <strike>sliced bread</strike> Sega Genesis. In an interview with VentureBeat, the exec said, "We make as much money with these [iPhone] games on one device as we do putting a game on 100 different cell phone platforms." In fact, mobile developers are making so much money with games for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/iphone">iPhone</a>, at such a low overhead, that Hawkins believes the iPhone is "freaking out" Sony and Nintendo.<br /><br />And though Hawkins' company publishes games on the web and Facebook as well as for Apple's devices, he believes competitors (including Blackberry) to be stuck in the past. "Everybody else is a couple of years behind Apple" -- a notion that he credits to the iTunes Store's relative ubiquity among consumers even before the iPhone existed. "They've spent years building up those iTunes accounts and it's much easier for the money to flow." And not forcing consumers to convert to a ridiculous <em>points</em> currency probably doesn't hurt that flow either.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/trip-hawkins-iphone-freaking-out-nintendo-and-sony/">Trip Hawkins believes iPhone is 'freaking out' Nintendo &amp; Sony</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 Apr 2009 19:00:00 EST. Got a Blackberry? If you do, then you could turn that smartphone into a cheap and practical solution to some of PS3s peripheral needs. <a href="http://unify4life.com/AVShadow.php">Unity4Life's</a> Games|Shadow will turn your phone into a remote control for both DVD and Blu-ray playback features, as well as turn it into a keypad for internet browsing or other text-heavy inputs.<br /><br />The add-on for the phone costs $39.99 and will be available this upcoming April. At that price, it's a rather attractive option as opposed to going for the official wireless keypad which costs $10 more (with no remote control features either). Check out Games|Shadow in action after the break.<br /><br />[Thanks KidQwik!]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/13/use-your-blackberry-as-a-ps3-remote-and-keypad/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Use your Blackberry as a PS3 remote and keypad</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/01/13/use-your-blackberry-as-a-ps3-remote-and-keypad/">Use your Blackberry as a PS3 remote and keypad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Jan 2009 07:30:00 EST. <div align="left">As iPhone users have <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/microsoft-mandates-that-iphone-xbox-live-apps-stay-free/">known for a while now</a>, there's nothing more satisfying than staring into your handset's screen and ... seeing that your friends are at home, <em>playing video games</em>? For those who roll with a <strike>Crackberry</strike> Blackberry and simply <em>must</em> keep tabs on their friends' Gamerscores at all times, Juan Xavier Larrea has developed the free Xberry Live.<br /><br />Available via <a href="http://crackberry.com/xbox-live-your-blackberry-xberry-live">this link</a>, the app functions much like Microsoft's own web-based friends list, displaying Gamertags, status, and Gamerscores along with a Gamercard sub-screen with icons representing your friends' most recently played games. Friends must be added manually for the time being ... which is fine, unless you have a maxed-out list.<br /><br />Xberry Live has been tested and works on Blackberry <span class="content">81xx, 83xx, 87xx, 88xx, and 9000 handsets, and requires OS 4.2.1. or higher. No word on whether it (or similar apps) will experience any problems when the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/09/joystiq-hands-on-the-new-xbox-experience/">New Xbox Experience</a> launches <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/08/new-xbox-experience-coming-nov-19/">November 19</a>.</span><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://crackberry.com/xbox-live-your-blackberry-xberry-live">Crackberry</a>]<br /></div>

Two years later a community, who grew tired of waiting for mobile Live awareness, has taken the platform under their wing.<br /><br />The team at <a href="http://1337pwn.com/">1337pwn</a> have recently released a set of widgets for the iPhone and iPod Touch family along with widgets for Palm and Blackberry devices that meet almost every expectation of Microsoft's original Live Anywhere platform (save for playing games). More than just a static gamercard, the Xbox Live Friends List Widget allows users to view the online status and gamerscore of any users inputted into the system while allowing users to send messages via <a href="http://www.xbox.com">Xbox.com</a> by clicking into any listed gamercard. While the widget has been available for MacOS and select internet browsers for sometime, the inclusion of mobile widgets for this high-quality community creation is already a step ahead of Microsoft. Now, if they could only tackle a Smart Phone (Windows Mobile) version we'd be happy!<br /><br />[Thanks, borocouncilman]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/20/community-tackles-xbox-live-anywhere/">Community tackles Xbox Live Anywhere</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 20 Mar 2008 11:15:00 EST.
