Curiouser, not one of the developers and publishers named on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/heres-everyone-working-on-a-ps4-game/">previous list</a> makes an appearance on the new roll call. A spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe confirmed to us the first list, sent out last week, was erroneous, and this new one is correct. There are no revisions for any other regions.<br /><br />The new list removes a number of significant names, including Mojang (<em>Minecraft</em>), Rovio (<em>Angry Birds</em>), Frozenbyte, Criterion Games, and City Interactive. In their stead are some new noteworthy studios, such as CD Projekt, who've <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/21/the-witcher-3-confirmed-for-ps4/">confirmed</a> <em>The Witcher 3</em> as a PS4 game. Also included are Bohemia Interactive, Deep Silver, Ninja Theory, IO Interactive, Codemasters, 2K Games, and Sumo Digital. The full list can be found after the break.<br /><br />We've reached out to a number of studios for comment. Mojang's Daniel Kaplan reiterated to us the comments he gave to <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/187080/Which_indies_are_working_on_PS4_games_and_why.php#.USs_QaWeOuJ">Gamasutra</a>, saying his studio hasn't decided anything yet, and that the error is "confusion from Sony's side." Gamasutra's article also confirms <em>Super Crate Box</em> developer Vlambeer and <em>Skulls of the Shogun</em> creator 17-Bit, both included in the original list, as not currently working on anything for the PS4.<br /><br />A spokesperson for <em>Monsters (probably) Stole My Princess</em> developer Mediatonic, included in the original list but not in the corrected one, told us he couldn't make any comment on his studio and PS4 development. Meanwhile, Sumo Digital's inclusion adds weight to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/07/rumor-littlebigplanet-3-is-in-development-at-sonic-all-stars-de/">rumor</a> the British studio is working on <em>LittleBigPlanet 3</em>, but for the PS4. When approached previously about <em>LBP3, </em>a studio representative told Joystiq, "No comment."<br /><br /><div> <strong>Update 1</strong>: A spokesperson for 505 Games tells us the Italian company is "definitely" planning to publish games on the PS4. 505 Games was in the original list of European/PAL PS4 developers and publishers, but not the revised list. The spokesperson noted the company's logo appears in the <a href="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/02/live0618.jpg">image</a> showcasing PS4 partners, as shown during last week's event, as do many of the names in the revised list.<br /> <br /> <strong>Update 2</strong>: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe informs us the list of European PS4 studios has been further revised. Two more studios are now present in the form of Criterion Games and Ghost Games (an EA studio) - both were in the original list of 53. That takes the tally of confirmed European studios up to 30.</div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/25/sony-completely-revises-list-of-ps4-eu-studios-down-from-53-to/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony completely revises list of PS4 EU studios, down from 53 to 30 [updates]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/25/sony-completely-revises-list-of-ps4-eu-studios-down-from-53-to/">Sony completely revises list of PS4 EU studios, down from 53 to 30 [updates]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Feb 2013 08:15:00 EST. That distribution now covers "all key" EU territories, including the UK &amp; Ireland. The new agreement represents both an extension and expansion of the two companies' distribution partnership, first cemented in 2010, and includes <em>Grid 2</em> plus some "unannounced" Codemasters games.<br /><br />The news follows the recent announcement of restructuring at Codemasters, with 80 people reportedly laid off as a result. As for this side of the ocean, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment handled Codemasters' distribution in the Americas throughout <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/26/warner-bros-to-distribute-codemasters-games-in-2012/">last year</a> after taking over from THQ - we can't see Namco Bandai America going back, somehow.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/11/namco-bandai-extends-codemasters-eu-distribution-deal-through-20/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Namco Bandai extends Codemasters EU distribution deal through 2013</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/11/namco-bandai-extends-codemasters-eu-distribution-deal-through-20/">Namco Bandai extends Codemasters EU distribution deal through 2013</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 11 Feb 2013 10:30:00 EST. At least five million of those units were distributed to households <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/11/ps3-hurdles-over-the-5-million-mark-in-the-uk/">in the UK alone</a>, though how the other 25 million are divvied up is anyone's guess.<br /><br />Let's put that number into context by first surmising that the median weight of all existing PS3s is 9.35 pounds per console, assuming an even spread of Phat PAL and Slim PAL models across the world. That's 280.5 <em>million pounds</em> worth of PlayStations, or the approximate weight of <em>112,200 Volkswagen buses</em>, assuming an average weight of 2,500 pounds per bus, and that all the hypothetical buses used were manufactured before 1967.<br /><br />Hey, we never said the context would be meaningful.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/19/sony-30m-ps3s-sold-in-eu-pal-territories/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony: 30M PS3s sold in EU/PAL territories</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/12/19/sony-30m-ps3s-sold-in-eu-pal-territories/">Sony: 30M PS3s sold in EU/PAL territories</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 19 Dec 2012 21:15:00 EST. We're always wary to talk numbers and Europe in the same breath, mostly because numbers over there don't mean the same as they do here. "One pound is a half kilogram? What does that even <em>mean</em>?" Luckily for us, there's no way to misconstrue the fact that the Wii is now the best-selling console in Europe this generation.<br />
<br />
The European chapter of the Wii Defense Force is popping the bubbly now, we imagine, celebrating the 30 million Wii consoles in the region as of 2011's end. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/10/mario-and-sonic-go-to-europe-in-a-blue-wii-bundle/">New console bundles</a> brought a new "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/17/new-european-wii-model-loses-gamecube-compatibility/">value Wii</a>" into the region, The PS3 isn't far behind, however, with reports of over 22 million consoles sold <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/ps3-passes-22m-european-sales/083710">at the end of August</a>. But, the Wii figure looks even better when compared to the GameCube, which sold 4.7 million throughout its five year lifetime in Europe <em>and</em> Australia, combined.<br />
<br />
On the peripheral front, Nintendo's also got robust sales figures for its Wii Balance Board and its bundled titles, <em>Wii Fit </em>and <em>Wii Fit Plus</em>, to celebrate. 22.67 million copies of <em>Wii Fit</em> and 19.31 million copies of <em>Wii Fit Plus</em> have been sold worldwide.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/11/wii-becomes-best-selling-current-generation-console-in-europe/">Wii becomes best-selling current generation console in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 11 Jan 2012 11:30:00 EST. <em>Catherine</em> is packing her bags for Europe. Atlus and European publisher Deep Silver have formed a professional relationship that will see the dramatic puzzle game making its way to PAL territories. <em>Catherine</em> will get some language lessons on the way, offering localized text in French, Italian, German and Spanish.<br />
<br />
Atlus explained to us earlier this week that the company <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/atlus-catherine-eu-launch-requires-eu-publisher/">couldn't announce Catherine's European plans</a> until it locked down a European publisher. The one thing missing from today's announcement is a launch window, something we hope to get during Europe's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamescom-2011">Gamescom</a> convention, which is just a few weeks away.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/catherine-heading-to-europe-with-deep-silver/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Catherine heading to Europe with Deep Silver</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/22/catherine-heading-to-europe-with-deep-silver/">Catherine heading to Europe with Deep Silver</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jul 2011 09:30:00 EST. <em>Catherine</em> is complicated, and so is the business of publishing and distribution. Following up on German site <a href="http://translate.google.de/translate?js=n&amp;prev=_t&amp;hl=de&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;layout=2&amp;eotf=1&amp;sl=de&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamersglobal.de%2Fnews%2F39004%2Fcatherine-weiterhin-kein-eu-release-in-sicht">GamersGlobal</a>'s report that there was no release in sight for <em>Catherine</em>, we contacted Atlus about the subtleties of the EU situation.<br />
<br />
Atlus USA's PR and sales manager Aram Jabbari explained there are "no plans at this time" regarding <em>Catherine</em>'s launch in the territory, because the company needs to find a suitable publishing partner. Atlus doesn't have the European infrastructure, so it must first find a distribution partner before it can start promising launch windows. Jabbari cited Atlus titles <em>Persona 4</em> and <em>3D Dot Game Heroes,</em> distributed by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/13/persona-4-comes-to-europe-in-march/">Square Enix</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/11/3d-dot-game-heroes-coming-to-europe-may-14-playable-at-midlands/">SouthPeak</a>, respectively, as examples of European partnerships.<br />
<br />
This is all to say that it's not that <em>Catherine</em> isn't coming to PAL territories, it's just that Atlus needs to find the right buddy. Gamescom is around the corner -- it would be the perfect time to set up or finalize a deal. <em>Catherine</em> will be ready to start her relationship with North America on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/catherine">July 26</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/20/atlus-catherine-eu-launch-requires-eu-publisher/">Atlus: Catherine EU launch requires EU publisher</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 20 Jul 2011 20:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/infamous-2"><em>Infamous 2</em></a> is coming out in the UK, Germany and Ireland on June 10, and the rest of Europe on June 8. Yes, we usually make a bigger deal out of release dates than just dropping them all plain-like in the first sentence like that, but we need as much space as we can get to explain the different bundles available to European shoppers. No joke, you guys: There are <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/05/17/infamous-2-pal-release-date-confirmed-8th-10th-june/">five different versions</a> of Sucker Punch's dichotomous action title available in Europe's shops.<br />
<br />
So, there's the basic, vanilla flavored standard edition, the Special Edition (which includes extra powers and an "Original Cole" character skin) and the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/18/infamous-2-release-date/">Hero Edition</a> (which includes a lot of things, including a replica messenger bag). However, Europe also gets a bundle that includes the game and a "good" blue or "evil" red DualShock 3 controller, as well as a 320GB PS3 bundle. No prices have been announced for the bundles, but really, what price is too high for premium crimefighting? Or ... um, <em>crimemaking</em>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/17/infamous-2-hits-europe-june-8-coming-in-so-so-many-bundles/">Infamous 2 hits Europe June 8, coming in so, so many bundles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 17 May 2011 10:00:00 EST. The ported rodent caper collection will arrive first in PAL territories other than the UK and Australia on December 1. Its release in Australia will follow on Dec. 2, and then it comes to the UK and Ireland on Dec. 3.<br />
<br />
If that's too long to wait, you could either import it from the US right now -- or, you know, break out your copies of the PS2 versions.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/12/sly-trilogy-gets-its-trilogy-of-pal-release-dates/">Sly Trilogy gets its trilogy of PAL release dates</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Nov 2010 12:20:00 EST. Grant City officers looking to extend their Turner and Hooch-like experience in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dead-to-rights-retribution"><em>Dead to Rights: Retribution</em></a> will soon get a new DLC pack. The "<a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/dead-to-rights--retribution--gac-pack--dlc-to-arrive-on-may-26th">GAC Pack</a>" (400<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> on Xbox Live / $4.99 on PSN) drops on May 26 in PAL territories [<strong>update: </strong>June 1 for North America] for Xbox 360 and PS3 and adds two new gameplay modes: Assault on the 87th Precinct and Riot Control.<br />
<br />
In Assault on the 87th Precinct, players take up the role of the enemy -- Grant City Anti-Crime. Playing as a Sniper, Brawler and Tank, players must perform the titular assault on the Grant City Police Department and secure the building, a twist on one of the game's campaign missions. Then there's Riot Control, which is essentially <em>Dead to Rights</em>' version of Horde mode: Jack and Shadow face off against waves of GAC forces, earning points "based on speed and style." Riot Control will support international leaderboards.<br />
<br />
As an added incentive for downloading the "GAC Pack," two previously <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/29/dead-to-rights-retribution-pre-order-campaigns-detailed/">pre-order exclusive DLC items</a> will be included: the "Jack Pack" and the "Shadow Pack." These add a new set of armor for Jack and some camouflage for Shadow, as well as an "action mode" which turns every bullet into a tiny, exploding grenade. Finally, there's a noir graphic filter included if staring at all of those colors upsets your delicate retinas. <br />

Namco Bandai will unleash <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/demons-souls"><em>Demon's Souls</em></a> upon European territories on June 25, ending the region's dearth of <em>pleasurable</em> pain, the publisher has announced. The PlayStation 3 exclusive will be released as a limited "Black Phantom Edition" retail package, featuring the game, a soundtrack CD, an artbook and a strategy guide (trust us, Europe, you'll need it!). Atlus, as you may recall, published the game in North America, following its debut in Japan under the Sony label. The game was co-developed by From Software and SCE Japan Studio.<br />
<br />

Cing's sequel to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/hotel-dusk"><em>Hotel Dusk</em></a> is destined for a PAL release, a recent trademark shows. This may cause one to believe <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/last-window"><em>Last Window</em></a> could eventually find its way to North America and we'd certainly entertain the notion -- at least it should be importable.<br />
<br />
Admittedly, Nintendo <a href="http://www.touchgenerations.com/enGB/games_DS_related/hotel_dusk/overview_hotel_dusk.php">actively promoted</a> Cing's first game and a lot of DS enthusiasts in the U.S. seemed to <a href="http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2007/12/24/readers-choice-the-best-of-2007/">enjoy</a> it, so we can see it happening. But without so much as a mention during the recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nintendo-media-summit-2010">Nintendo Media Summit</a>, we're not gonna hold our breath just yet. Let's at least agree to wait until E3, OK?<br />

However, the company is handling the game itself for the European release, due in February. The game is a flight action game developed by Ace Combat dev Project Aces, and based on both the novel and the Mamoru Ishii-directed anime film of the same name.<br />

In addition to the game, the movie is planned for a DVD and Blu-Ray release in PAL territories at an unspecified future date ("coming soon"). That seems like a good idea -- licensed games probably work better when people know what the source material is.<br />

Amazon.uk has opened pre-orders for the new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/20/black-wii-system-going-to-europe-as-part-of-wii-sports-resort-bu/"><em>Wii Sports Resort</em> bundle</a>, which includes a Wiimote, a Nunchuk and a MotionPlus all dressed in black, along with both <em>Wii Sports</em> games. The bundle will ship on November 6 and is available on <a href="http://www.amazon.de/Nintendo-Wii-Konsole-schwarz-Sports/dp/B002TLTBM6/ref=sr_tr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1256655231&amp;sr=8-1">additional Amazon branches</a>, as well; though the release dates for other European territories is November 20.<br /><br />The UK pre-order price is even discounted a bit to &pound;164.99 (roughly $270) -- the same bundle in <em>boring old</em> white normally retails for &pound;179.99. (The black and white bundles are priced the same, at &euro;209.99, elsewhere in Europe.) The <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Console-Sports-Resort-Controller/dp/B002Q8I13M/ref=sr_tr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1256654899&amp;sr=1-1">white bundle</a>, however, includes your choice of two additional games -- a small sacrifice for that <em>spooky</em> black coating, we say.<br /><br />As for you importers, we suppose this could be the ideal time to pursue a PAL model, if you simply <em>can't wait</em> for the black system to be announced for North America. Then again, in doing so, you'll also have to import <em>all of your games</em>. Patience.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/27/black-nintendo-wii-bundle-listed-on-amazon-uk-for-164-99/">Engadget</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/27/pal-psa-black-wii-bundle-now-available-for-pre-order-discounte/">PAL PSA: Black Wii bundle now available for pre-order, discounted in UK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Oct 2009 12:02:00 EST. <span style="font-style: italic;">Yeesh</span>. To say the European PSN update hit a dry spell this week would be offensive to dry spells. Let's see, we got ... some DLC for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/eyepet"><span style="font-style: italic;">EyePet</span></a>, those <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/16/rock-band-weekly-a-killer-queen-pack/">ten Queen songs</a> for <span style="font-style: italic;">Rock Band</span>, and ... some DLC for <span style="font-style: italic;">Hannah Montana: Rock Out The Show</span>. One piece of this downloadable content is something called a "Hannah Montana Fashion Add-on," causing us to wonder what type of fashion is present in the game <span style="font-style: italic;">without</span> this content in place. <span style="font-style: italic;">We may never know</span>.<br />

Look, we're not going to waste your time. A lot of new content for the PSN landed in Europe today, but only one piece of that content is a PSP Mini titled <em>Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam</em>. The rest of the game developing world might as well give up, because <em>Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam</em> exists, and only costs four pounds. How is anyone supposed to compete with that?<br /> <br />

Arguably the two biggest titles set to release on their respective platforms this year, <em>New Super Mario Bros. Wii</em> and <em>The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks</em> have both been <a href="http://nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/news/2009/link_and_mario_make_their_return_this_christmas_as_nintendo_announces_the_autumnwinter_line-up_14710.html">dated</a> by Nintendo of Europe. <em>NSMBW</em> is set to invade living rooms on November 20, while <em>Spirit Tracks</em> will be pulling into the station on December 11. But that's not all, as Nintendo has also dated <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-fit-plus"><em>Wii Fit Plus</em></a> for October 30 and plans to cater to your inner fashionista with <em>Nintendo Presents Style Boutique</em> on October 23.<br />
<br />
Nintendo of America previously confirmed <span style="font-style: italic;">NSMBW</span> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/23/new-super-mario-bros-wii-coming-down-the-pipe-nov-15/">November 15</a> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Zelda </span>for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/15/legend-of-zelda-spirit-tracks-pulling-into-retail-station-dec/">December 7</a>; and <span style="font-style: italic;">Wii Fit Plus </span>releases ... <span style="font-style: italic;">this Sunday!</span> Time to sculpt that perfect figure again.<br />

We hope you've been regularly exercising your ocular muscles -- they'll need to be pretty beefy to make it through this weeks European PSN update. There's a smattering of stuff that's been added for the PS3, the most notable of which being <span style="font-style: italic;">Watchmen</span> costumes in <span style="font-style: italic;">LittleBigPlanet</span>, but the star of this week's show is the PSP Go. Check out the list after the jump for a full list of downloadable titles now available for the platform. <br />

Sony continues its third-party publishing strategy in PAL territories today by taking up Codemasters' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/dirt-2"><em>DiRT 2</em></a>. Unlike <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/sony-publishing-ghostbusters-in-europe-psp-version-resurrected/">the <em>Ghostbusters </em>venture</a>, however, this is not a timed exclusive for PlayStation platforms. <a href="http://www.mcvuk.com/news/35585/Sony-to-publish-Dirt-2">MCV</a> reports that Sony will publish the PSP and PS3 versions of the game, while Codemasters handles publishing duties on all other platforms.<br /><br />Codemasters' senior VP of publishing for EPAC, Axel Herr, is glad to have Sony take over, citing the series' "great affinity with the PlayStation brand in PAL territories for over 10 years" as one of the key factors behind the decision. We're sure all of the buzz around the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ps3-slim">PS3 Slim</a> didn't hurt either.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/27/sony-publishing-dirt-2-for-psp-ps3-in-pal-regions/">Sony publishing DiRT 2 for PSP, PS3 in PAL regions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Aug 2009 16:00:00 EST. Namco Bandai partners has announced that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ghostbusters"><em>Ghostbusters</em></a> will officially arrive on European Wii, DS and Xbox 360 consoles (and PCs) on October 23, according to <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/non-sony_ghostbusters_dated.html">VideoGamer.com</a>. Thus far, the game has only been officially available for the PS3 and PS2 thanks to its initial European publisher, Sony. That said, the North American Xbox 360 version is reportedly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/16/xbox-360-ghostbusters-not-region-locked-europe-doesnt-need-to/">not region-locked</a>, allowing European gamers to import the title.<br />
<br />
Still, for Nintendo and Xbox players longing for what <em>Play Magazine</em> calls the "best damn <em>Ghostbusters</em> game [they've] ever seen" (as opposed to the vastly superior version we were <em>hoping</em> for), the wait is going to be just a bit longer.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/27/ghostbusters-non-sony-euro-releases-dated-oct-23/">Non-Sony Ghostbusters releases dated in Europe</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 27 Jul 2009 10:30:00 EST. Launching on June 5, <em>The Last Hope</em> has already made the trek to North American gamers, but European users have an <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/05/26/only-europe-gets-a-star-ocean-the-last-hope-collectors-edition/">exclusive pack headed their way</a> to sweeten a possible purchase.<br /><br />Included in the special edition is the game, a 32-page guide, five <em>Last Hope</em> character cards, a compilation CD soundtrack and limited edition packaging.<br /><br />While we should be jealous of the bonuses included in the pack, we're more envious of the <a href="http://www.amstore.co.uk/cd-dvd/digistack-style-cases.html">digistack packing</a> used for the set. Thanks to this special edition, PAL users won't all have to deal with three discs stacked on top of each other, like North American gamers did. Gaijin just <a href="http://www.gaijingames.com/?p=360">announced</a> that the game will be released on the PAL Wii Shop this Friday. "Sorry for the long wait, European gamers," the developer's blog states. "Start loadin' up those Wii Points and get ready for some BIT.TRIP BEAT insanity!"<br /><br />We can hardly think of a better use for your 600 Wii Points (if you already have <em>Devil's Crush</em>). Just be warned: you will not complete this game the first time you play it. You will not, in fact, complete the first stage.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.cubed3.com/news/12197">Cubed3</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/29/bit-trip-beat-makes-a-bit-eurotrip-this-week/">Bit.Trip: Beat makes a Bit.Eurotrip this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 29 Apr 2009 17:00:00 EST. For another week in the United Kingdom, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/godfather-2"><em>Godfather II</em></a> has managed to secure the illustrious second spot on the top entertainment software list. According to <a href="http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&amp;ct=110015">Chart-Track</a>, this is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/godfather-2-whacks-competition-in-uk-debuts-at-number-2/">the second week in a row</a> the game has been in the number two spot -- but there are some titles <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/now-playing-april-19-25-2009/">releasing to the PAL territory</a> that could topple this kingpin. It'll be interesting to see what the charts look like next week.<br /><br />Of course, <em>Godfather II</em> was predictably bested again by <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wii-fit">Wii Fit</a>, </em>so it's not all gabbagool and broken kneecaps in the UK. Not <em>yet</em>, anyway ...<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/corleone-staying-power-godfather-ii-holds-2-spot-in-uk/">Corleone staying power: Godfather II holds 2nd spot in UK charts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 20 Apr 2009 15:00:00 EST. <br />Yours truly has hazy memories of spending an entire summer holiday glued to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/its-a-mario-world-golf-career/"><em>Mario Golf</em></a>, unlocking Metal Mario, and jumping on the bed after fluking a hole-in-one (shamefully, I was nineteen at the time). And now, it's the fifteenth N64 game to appear on the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/friday">PAL Virtual Console</a>. Hell yeah! It might suffer heavily from the N64 fuzz, but for our money it's still the best in its respective series. It's accompanied this week by <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wonder-boy"><em>Wonder Boy in Monster Land</em></a>.<br />

Oh, it's ... <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/lonpos-may-be-bad-for-your-blood-pressure/"><em>Lonpos</em></a>. The only neat, semi-interesting thing we can bring ourselves to write about <em>Lonpos</em> is that it was a launch title for the Japanese WiiWare service (but for 1,000 Wii Points), and that buying the starter pack and downloading <em>all</em> of <em>Lonpos</em>' <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/lonpos-is-only-a-starter-pack/">extra content</a> would cost you 5,300 Wii Points. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/09/lonpos-hates-your-wallet/">We kid you not</a>. Good luck with that, Genki.<br />

There's a video after the break of the game in "action." In short, it's a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tangram">tangram</a> puzzler, in the vein of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/10/gaming-to-go-neves/"><em>Neves</em></a>. It's also a bit of an oddity in the series, in that it plays more like a shooter than the traditional run-and-jump <em>Donkey Kong</em> fare, so we ... guess it holds some value as a curio.<br /><br />Then there's <em>Enduro Racer</em>, a game in which it is possible to win races by driving in an almost entirely straight line. It would be fair to say Nintendo emerged <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Excitebike/">triumphant</a> in the 8-bit motocross wars.<br />

<p>With our shelves and Wii fridges creaking under the weight of new games from the holidays, Nintendo has generously given PAL gamers a week to catch their breath -- at least, we <em>think</em> that's the idea. Both WiiWare titles this week probably only appeal to a handful of people. The fifth and final episode of <em>Strong Bad Episode 5</em> is great, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/wii-fanboy-review-8-bit-is-enough/">obviously</a>, but only if you're in the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/wii-warm-up-did-strong-bad-win-you-over/">teensy minority</a> who grabbed the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/review-strong-bads-cool-game-for-attractive-people/">first four instalments</a>.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, <em>Fun! Fun! Minigolf</em> is allegedly <em>so fun</em> that maker Shin'en felt the need to tell us of its <em>fun-ness</em> twice over. But is a zany-looking chibi minigolf game really the title to stop us from getting our fingers <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/wii-fanboy-review-world-of-goo/">gooey</a>? Hint: no.</p>

<p>As a Christmas treat to its impeccably-behaved PAL region fans, Nintendo of Europe unveiled this week's Euro/Aussie Virtual Console offerings early, and <em>holy crap</em> it's <em>Secret of Mana</em>. Square's classic three-player RPG has been available in Japan and North America (in Virtual Console form) since <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/09/vc-tuesday-mana-the-hour/">September</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/13/vc-monday-madness-secret-of-mana-and-street-fighter-ii-champion/">October</a> respectively, and will make the trip to PAL land on Boxing Day. The toys we excitedly unwrap in front of our parents on Christmas Day morning will be swiftly cast aside!</p>
<p>Less thrillingly, <em>Secret of Mana</em> will be joined by the Master System version of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/08/vc-monday-madness-sonic-the-hedgehog-2-sega-master-system/">Sonic the Hedgehog 2</a></em>; and because this is essentially <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/friday">VC Friday</a> on a Tuesday, you can see footage of both beyond the break!</p>

<br />Save the best 'til last, as ... somebody ... probably once said, and that's exactly what Nintendo has done for the PAL <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/wiiware/">WiiWare</a> service. On the last "WiiWare Friday" of 2008, <span style="font-style: italic;">World of Goo</span> leads a pack of four games. It is quite possibly the most <em>wizard</em> WiiWare release of 2008, and if you wish to know why, head <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/14/wii-fanboy-review-world-of-goo/">here</a>. Then go and buy it, and make <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/12/wii-fanboy-interviews-2d-boy-world-of-goo/">2D Boy</a> the million bucks they so richly deserve.<br /><br />That's not to say you have to ignore the rest. <span style="font-style: italic;">Art Style: Orbient</span> is an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/wii-fanboy-review-orbient/">excellent</a> little puzzler, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/16/niki-rock-n-ball-possibly-on-pal-wiiware-this-week/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Niki - Rock'n' Ball</span></a> is an unknown quantity until somebody braver than us downloads it, and <span style="font-style: italic;">Sudoku Challenge!</span> -- okay, you probably should <a href="http://www.strictlysudoku.com/">ignore</a> <span style="font-style: italic;">Sudoku Challenge!.</span> <br />

We imagine some of our Australian readers read <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/15/club-nintendo-almost-launches-real-prizes-confirmed/">yesterday's news</a> concerning Club Nintendo in North America with a burning sense of injustice. That's kind of understandable. The Aussie Club Nintendo was announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/club-nintendo-heads-down-under/">back in April</a>, half a year before the North American version, yet has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/25/australian-club-nintendo-still-not-functional/">still to launch</a>. Sucks to be Australia.<br /><br />But not for much longer, maybe. Aussie-Nintendo was scoring free drinks at The Nintendo Experience launch party in Melbourne last night when it was informed by Nintendo representatives that Club Nintendo will launch in Oz at some point close to Christmas or New Year. According to the reps, the Australian program has been developed alongside the North American service, and a website redesign had caused the ridiculous delay of <em>eight months</em>. Memo to Nintendo Australia: time to get some faster code monkeys.<br /><br />

That we never played! Oh, happy days. If you haven't downloaded the first game, why on earth not? Beyond the crude visuals lies a highly entertaining and surprisingly atmospheric puzzle-based platformer. The sequel sounds like more of the same but with a few new robots, which is fine with us.<br /><br />Meanwhile, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/25/vc-friday-ninja-dragon-games/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Last Ninja 3</span></a> is the second C64 title available this week. Has it aged as poorly as the first two? Probably. It certainly looks similar in footage, though Reyn Ouwehand's soundrack still rocks our socks. Then there's <span style="font-style: italic;">Boogerman</span>, which you really shouldn't download. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/24/vc-monday-madness-boogerman/">Here's a video</a> explaining why.<br />
<ul>
    <li><span style="font-style: italic;">Last Ninja 3</span>* -- Commodore 64 -- 500 Wii Points</li>
    <li><span style="font-style: italic;">Impossible Mission II</span>* -- Commodore 64 -- 500 Wii Points</li>

Ready to jump aboard the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/killzone-2 ">Killzone 2</a> </em><a href="http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/12/04/trophies-killzone-2/">hype train</a>? Sony has announced that Guerilla Games' much-hyped PS3 shooter will infiltrate North America retailers on Friday, February 27, 2009 (via <a href="http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/691498/Killzone_2_Release_Date_February_27_2009.html">G4</a>), where it will face fierce competition from pretty much no one. As for our friends living across the pond, a Sony UK spokesperson has told <a href="http://www.videogamer.com/news/05-12-2008-10112.html">Video Gamer</a> that the company is "targeting a similar timeframe for the release of Killzone 2 in the PAL regions." With 84 days until the North America launch, we anticipate a marketing blitz to commence just after the new year.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-2/">Killzone 2</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-2/#989295"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/killzone-2-kz2_mp.09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-2/#932108"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/killzone2e312_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-2/#932132"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/killzonemulti06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-2/#989296"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/08/killzone-2-kz2_mp.10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/killzone-2/#932109"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/07/killzone2e311_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/05/killzone-2-release-date-is-feb-27-similar-timeframe-for-pal/">Killzone 2 release date is Feb. 27, 'similar timeframe' for PAL release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 05 Dec 2008 11:59:00 EST. Then there's <em>Bang!</em>, a puzzler that looks a bit like <em>Bejeweled</em> with fruit -- the gameplay video after the break is possibly the most soulless thing we've watched in years.<br /><br />Oh, and we can now say with <em>some certainty</em> that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/12/wii-fanboy-interviews-2d-boy-world-of-goo/"><span style="font-style: italic;">World of Goo</span></a> will be out in Europe and Australia on December 19, the only "WiiWare Friday" left in 2008. Unless it's been delayed again, which doesn't bear thinking about.<br />

<br />This week's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/friday">PAL Virtual Console</a> line-up isn't short on quality, but it represents fairly <em>awful</em> value. As dreamy as we find any <span style="font-style: italic;">Metal Slug</span> title, there are cheaper ways to play all three of this week's offerings. <br /><br />Want <span style="font-style: italic;">Metal Slug 2</span>? We'd recommend picking up <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/21/metareview-metal-slug-anthology/">this</a>. Fancy having your delicate gamer's ego rudely kicked in by <span style="font-style: italic;">Forgotten World</span>s? There's an <a href="http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps2/capcomclassicscollection">excellent compilation</a> out there for a bunch of platforms that costs <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Capcom-Classic-Collection-PS2/dp/B000BLE99G">peanuts</a> and comes with another 20 or so games. If you can't find <span style="font-style: italic;">Space Invaders</span> for less than &pound;6/&euro;8, you're probably reading the wrong website. Better still: lavish those points on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/10/wii-fanboy-review-space-invaders-get-even/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Space Invaders Get Even!</span></a>.<br />

<br />Four new WiiWare titles came down the tubes in Europe and Australia today, and the selection couldn't be more diverse. <span style="font-style: italic;">Art Style: Cubello</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Strong Bad Episode 3: Baddest of the Bands</span> you'll already know about, but <span style="font-style: italic;">CueSports</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam</span> are more mysterious beasts. <br />Sega will release <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/house-of-the-dead"><em>The House of the Dead: Overkill</em></a> in Europe next February, and there'll be an optional bonus at "selected retailers" for fans who preorder: this rad Collector's Edition. Arriving in a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/house-of-the-dead-overkill/1174346/full/">fetching minimalist slipcase</a> (loving the authentic <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/house-of-the-amazing-swag/">scuff marks</a>), this will come bundled with a graphic novel that tells the stories of Agent Washington and Varla Gunns, and the events that lead up to the game.<br /><br />Here's the downside: this sweet package has so far only been announced for PAL regions -- apart from Germany, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/19/madworld-house-of-the-dead-overkill-wont-be-released-in-germa/">obviously</a>. Though we always expected this, Nintendo has confirmed that it will bring the stylish <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/art-style"><em>Art Style</em></a> games to Europe's (and, we assume, Australia's) WiiWare service from November 21st.<br />

EX-TERM-IN-ATE! EX-TERM-IN-ATE! Wait, no, those are the other ones. But whatever. The point is: after hearing nothing about <em>Space Invaders Get Even!</em> for months, the game has randomly appeared on the European and Australian Wii Shops. We are unashamedly jigging with joy as we type this. And the extra-terrestial goodness doesn't stop there, for <em>Alien Crush Returns</em> has also joined the line-up. Needless to say, we wholeheartedly welcome our new rulers (of all our spare time).<br />
<br />
The other game is <em>Brain Challenge</em>. Sorry, <em>Brain Challenge</em>.<br />

Nintendo restricting itself in this way could have gone tragically wrong -- they could have given us something terrible like <a href="http://www.nesplayer.com/reviews/fridaythe13thr.htm"><em>Friday the 13th</em></a>, for example -- but instead the results are ... really, really good.<br />

Normally we'd whoop unashamedly for <em>Ghosts 'N Goblins</em> alone, but <em>Castlevania III</em>, which is yet to be released on the U.S. <em>or</em> Japanese Virtual Consoles? And <em>Devil World</em>, which North America has also been waiting on (for almost a quarter of a century)? Yeah, we'll take those. Watch bone-chilling footage of all three past the break.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/castlevania-iii-draculas-curse/">Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/castlevania-iii-draculas-curse/#782305"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/c3vo013ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/castlevania-iii-draculas-curse/#782304"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/c3vo008ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/castlevania-iii-draculas-curse/#782303"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/c3vo009ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/castlevania-iii-draculas-curse/#782302"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/c3vo007ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/castlevania-iii-draculas-curse/#782301"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/nintendo.joystiq.com/media/2008/05/c3vo014ak_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/vc-friday-a-huddle-of-halloween-horrors/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>VC Friday: A huddle of Halloween horrors</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/vc-friday-a-huddle-of-halloween-horrors/">VC Friday: A huddle of Halloween horrors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 Oct 2008 11:45:00 EST.
