PSN Thursday: Qore drills deep into Killzone 2

If you listened carefully, you might have heard the PSN update this week. It was really small and didn't make much noise, but we assure you ... it happened. It added a new episode of Qore and two new DLC games, including Cuboid. Beyond that, there's new tracks for everyone's favorite plastic instrument games. The complete North American PSN update can be found after the break.

PS3 Fanboy has the European PSN update, but it isn't much better over there either.

Cuboid detailed and priced

It looks like Cuboid, one of three upcoming PSN games from Creat Studios, will be released soon. A post on the PlayStation Blog by Creat Producer Olga Sokolova shows a little more of what we can expect from the game. Cuboid will sell for $9.99 when it releases "soon" and will include 66 levels (that's just over 15 cents a level). Creat promises that there will also be post-launch premium packs including new levels as well as a level editor.

Check out the video after the break to see the game in action and check out the PlayStation Blog post for some details on some of Cuboid's gameplay mechanics.

Cuboid coming soon, squarely for PSN

The PlayStation Blog announced today that Cuboid, a 3D puzzle game, will soon be available on PSN for $10. The game will have players squaring off against 66 levels, split across three different settings. "Premium packs" (i.e.: paid DLC) are coming soon to keep addicts rolling.

Sony also plans to release a level editor in the "coming months," but there's no word on whether the company will charge for the privilege to expand the game yourself. If you want a better idea as to how Cuboid works, check out the trailer after the break.

Screenshots: Creat Studios' three PSN games revealed

We unearthed three PSN games from Creat Studios a few weeks ago. But, what the heck are they? Creat Studios has finally officially unveiled them. All three games will feature Trophy support, and will be released this Winter.
  • Magic Ball, is based on the classic Breakout arcade game, with a magical twist. Check out a video here. The initial release will include over 40 levels and both local and online multiplayer support. 20 additional levels will be available at a later date.

  • Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom will be the first mahjong game available for PlayStation Network, featuring a "storybook adventure," with hand-drawn illustrations. In addition to the two gameplay modes, a level editor and level packs are also planned for post-launch release.
  • Cuboid is a 3D puzzle game where players navigate ancient ruins, maneuvering a cube through a hole-filled grid. The initial release of Cuboid will include 66 twisted levels to engage players, with premium packs available later to include more levels and a custom level creator.

Creat Studios working on at least 3 PSN games

A long time ago (think about a year ago), independent developer Creat Studios announced it was working on a number of PlayStation Network games. We haven't heard much from then since, but it looks like they're working on at least three different PSN games. German USK rating board added three new games, all from Creat:
  • Cuboid
  • Magic Ball
  • Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom
Yeah, we're not jumping out of our seats on the prospects of a new Mahjong game. Regardless, it's nice to see the PSN continue to diversify its library.
