Mobile games developer Metal Compass is looking to change this depressing experience with the Xappr, a gun-shaped smartphone peripheral for a selection of augmented-reality and shooting apps, including <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ar-invaders/id406133349?mt=8"><em>AR Invaders</em></a> and <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sprayem/id427144834?mt=8"><em>Spray'Em</em></a>. Xappr is compatible with iOS, Android and Windows devices, although no Windows games are available at the moment.<br /><br />Metal Compass will be showing off the Xappr at the Nuremberg international toy fair, which runs February 1-6, and expects to begin shipping it in June. Xappr is available for <a href="http://www.xapprgun.com/">pre-order</a> now, at the lowest price you'll ever pay for a gun you didn't steal: $30 (plus $15 shipping in the US).<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/02/snag-this-crazy-ios-peripheral-get-free-ride-in-a-police-car/">Snag this crazy iOS peripheral, get free ride in a police car</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 02 Feb 2012 18:15:00 EST. You know what they say: You can never have too many gun-shaped peripherals in which to dock your <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/playstation-move">PlayStation Move</a> controller, unless, of course, you already have two, in which case, you do in fact have too many. (Trust us, people say that all the time.) However, assuming you haven't already indulged in one of the Move gun attachments already on the market, you may want to take a look at Blaze's recently revealed <strike>stab</strike> shot at violence-ing the peripheral.<br />
<br />
As you can see by the product image above, it's replaced the sci-fi blaster feel of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/16/playstation-move-shooting-attachment-is-groovy/">Sony's first-party gun attachment</a> with a slightly more realistic pistol motif. Well, there's still a huge, colorful ball at the end of the whole production, which we're pretty sure real guns don't have. Regardless, this bad boy will arrive next month at British retailers for an asking price of &pound;9.99.<br type="_moz" /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/21/blaze-announces-its-own-move-gun-attachment/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Blaze announces its own Move gun attachment</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/21/blaze-announces-its-own-move-gun-attachment/">Blaze announces its own Move gun attachment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 21 Jan 2011 03:00:00 EST. It's an indisputable fact that magical things can come in mullet-clad packages. The collected works of Billy Ray Cyrus, the 1994 hit Beastie Boys track "Mullet Head" -- and now, from yet another unlikely, mulleted source: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ym0tZSWGMc">The PC VR Game Gun</a>. If you'd like to cast off the veil of time and peer into the unthinkable future of video gaming, the YouTube video posted after the break should serve as an adequate portal into the world of <em>things yet to come</em>.<br /><br />By merging a toy gun, a PC gamepad, a LCD screen and a Gyration Air Mouse, the nameless modder <a href="http://www.blackhall.net/pc_vr_game_gun.htm">created a pretty clever</a> (and relatively inexpensive) head tracking system that's just perfect for first-person shooters -- especially <em>F.E.A.R.</em> on the highest difficulty setting. Sorry -- you can't play it on easy. The gun runs on <em>extreme high octane action</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/21/diy-vr-game-gun-packs-built-in-motion-tracking-optional-mullet/">Engadget</a>]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/21/mulleted-mystery-man-invents-pc-vr-game-gun/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Mulleted mystery man invents PC VR Game Gun</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/21/mulleted-mystery-man-invents-pc-vr-game-gun/">Mulleted mystery man invents PC VR Game Gun</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 21 Jun 2009 11:30:00 EST. At Mason Middle School in Tacoma, WA, a 13-year-old boy stole one of the guns from his father's collection and brought it in with the intent of trading it for a <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/tag/@psp">PSP</a>, <a href="http://www.kirotv.com/news/19191765/detail.html#-">kirotv reports</a>. Whatever happened to kids trading <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pogs">pogs</a>? <br /><br />The student who brought in the gun has been placed in juvenile detention, however a second gun is still missing from the father's collection. It was believed to also be in the school, but the report doesn't confirm if the police have discovered the missing firearm.<br /><br />[Thanks, Dan D!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/kid-brings-gun-to-school-to-trade-for-a-psp/">Kid brings gun to school ... to trade for a PSP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Apr 2009 17:00:00 EST. We were impressed by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/26/realistic-zapper-mod-is-impressive-also-sort-of-scary/">"WeeP 5" Zapper mod</a>, but did have one reservation: Link would <em>never</em> use an MP5 to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/links-crossbow-training">mow down</a> a herd of Stalfoses (Stalfi?). Enter CTA Digital, who were displaying this Zapper crossbow shell at the recently finished CES 2009 (which is strange, because apparently this has been around for a while, but it's the first we've seen of it).<br />
<br />
This bad boy comes equipped with a laser sight (we seriously question the historical accuracy of this) and, as you can see, a fetching "woodgrain" finish. It looks way, <em>way</em> nicer than the <em>fugly </em>crossbow peripheral we <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/you-can-now-buy-an-ugly-crossbow-peripheral-for-your-wii/">previously covered</a>, and is roughly the same price: a rather eye-watering <a href="http://www.wynit.com/products.aspx?product=35153">$29.99</a>.<br />

<br />Say hello to your new little friend, the "WeeP 5 Advanced Zapper," a mash-up of a toy MP5 gun and Wiimote innards (you can see the painted IR sensor just below the muzzle). The WeeP 5 is the work of Instructables user THeOReos, who was left disappointed by the range of gun shells available for the Wii (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/a-suitable-substitute-for-a-dolphin-shaped-zapper/"><em>WHAAAT?!</em></a>). It's just the ticket if you want your Zapper-compatible games to feel <em>extra</em> authentic, and we'd rather enjoy using it to drop bad dudes in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/18/anthony-bourdain-loves-ghost-squad-chicken-feet/"><em>Ghost Squad</em></a> (though it may not suit <em>Link's Crossbow Training</em>).<br /><br />THeOReos is confident this works well, and has posted a full step-by-step of the building process <a href="http://www.instructables.com/id/WeeP_5_Advanced_Zapper/">here</a>. We lack the patience or <em>skillz</em> to make our own, but don't let that put you off building one and sending it to us!<br /><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://hackaday.com/2008/12/26/weep5-a-wii-zapper-on-steroids/">Hack A Day</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/26/realistic-zapper-mod-is-impressive-also-sort-of-scary/">Realistic Zapper mod is impressive, also sort of scary</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 26 Dec 2008 17:30:00 EST. We're sure that many of you have tried some sort of gun peripheral in your travels, and maybe even own one. If so, which one(s) have you tried? The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/21/wii-zapper-and-links-crossbow-training-packaging-details/">Wii Zapper</a>? The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/wii-fanboy-review-nyko-perfect-shot/">Nyko Perfect Shot</a>? Something else?<br /><br />Of all the guns you've used, which is your favorite? Commenting on the "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/19/buy-nathan-drakes-gun-if-you-must/">replica <em>Uncharted </em>gun</a>," that we posted about yesterday, Sony has told Gamesindustry.biz that it is not officially endorsed and they certainly don't condone it. The gun is supposed to be a replica of Drake's weapon from the 2007 gem, <em>Uncharted: Drake's Fortune</em>. Without official licensing from Sony, however, selling it as such is just a sneaky attempt at cashing in on the game's success. <br /><br />Sony has said that they are "investigating the source of this product and will proceed with the most appropriate action." Appropriate action, in this case, probably means letting loose their pack of half-starved, feral lawyers. So don't expect it to be around for too much longer.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/sony-taking-action-against-unlicensed-replica-gun/">Sony taking action against unlicensed replica gun</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 May 2008 07:30:00 EST. <div align="left">It's hard to play through <em>Uncharted: Drake's Fortune</em> without wanting to be Nathan Drake at some point or another. Well you may not be able to look like him without major cosmetic surgery, but you <em>can</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/23/tim-schafer-muses-on-the-wonders-of-uncharteds-half-tuck/">dress like him</a> and, now, <a href="http://www.kingofswords.com/Airguns-Crossbows/Airsoft-Gas-Guns/PS3-Uncharted-Drakes-Fortune-Full-Metal-M92-Airsoft-Gun.html">fondle his weapon</a>. <br /><br />An airsoft replica of Drake's gun is available now for $170 at King Of Swords and comes with a free aluminum carrying case. When Nyko sent us over the Perfect Shot, we thought that it would be great to try it out with <em>House of the Dead 2 &amp; 3 Return</em>. Sadly, though, we received it <em>before</em> that game released, so the titles we had on-tap to play included <em>Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles</em> and .. actually, we just had <em>RE</em> to play.<br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/wii-fanboy-review-nyko-perfect-shot/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fanboy Review: Nyko Perfect Shot</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/wii-fanboy-review-nyko-perfect-shot/">Wii Fanboy Review: Nyko Perfect Shot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 21:00:00 EST. What's the key word in the title <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/metareview-links-crossbow-training/"><em>Link's Crossbow Training</em></a>? Many <em>Zelda</em> fans might say that it's "Link," but we're going to say "Crossbow," so let's go with that. At least we can all agree that it's not "Training."<br /><br />Tangent aside, it's possible that you were disappointed by the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zapper">Wii Zapper</a> bundle. After all, the Zapper is a <em>gun</em>. What kind of <em>crossbow </em>training is that?<br /><br />It was only a matter of time, then, before we saw an <a href="http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11459~r.99999999">actual crossbow peripheral</a> on the market. If you were considering buying this, though, we're sure the plastic ball replacing the arrowhead immediately turned you off. Unless the gun actually lets you shoot arrows (which we doubt), there's really no excuse for that.<br /><br />It's also one of the more expensive Wii "guns" that we've seen, costing a ridiculous $28 dollars. We'll just stick to our <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/26/more-wiimote-extensions-for-the-imagination-impaired/"><em>Cooking Mama</em> frying pans</a> while playing <em>Link's Crossbow</em>, thank you very much.<br /><br />Wait, um, did we saying frying pan? What we meant to say was Wii Zapper ... oh, damn.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://technabob.com/blog/2008/03/08/wii-crossbow-shoots-its-poison-arrow-through-my-heart/">Technabob</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/10/you-can-now-buy-an-ugly-crossbow-peripheral-for-your-wii/">You can now buy an ugly crossbow peripheral for your Wii</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Mar 2008 19:00:00 EST. <br />We all know there are plenty of choices out there when it comes to gun shells. The latest entry in the game comes <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/13/eas-nerf-n-strike-is-nerf-onscreen-and-off/">from Nerf</a>, but there's also <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/nintendo-teaching-people-how-to-use-the-zapper/">Nintendo's own Wii Zapper</a>. Also, we can't discount <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/11/a-closer-look-at-the-nyko-perfect-shot-and-wireless-guitar/">Nyko's Perfect Shot</a>. Or, how about the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/19/wii-blaster-coming-june-27th/">Blaster</a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/29/yes-its-a-gun/">Gun</a>, some Zapper knock-offs. There's also the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/simple-gun-mod-makes-use-of-scraps/">DIY possibilities</a> to be considered. We were wondering which you decided to go with?<br /><br />So head on past the break and cast your vote.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/15/wii-fanboy-poll-whats-your-preferred-weapon/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wii Fanboy poll: What's your preferred weapon?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/15/wii-fanboy-poll-whats-your-preferred-weapon/">Wii Fanboy poll: What's your preferred weapon?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Feb 2008 16:00:00 EST. If you're like us, you remember <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Dee_Williams">Billy Dee Williams</a> for one role he has ever played in his life: spokesperson for Colt 45 malt liquor. Forget those wars of stars or whatever, when he popped a top on a fresh 780oz can of the good stuff and told us how smooth the taste was, we knew he wasn't kidding. When the advertisement said "<a href="http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&amp;videoid=23396073">it works every time</a>," we felt life had balance and we had learned our first truth in the universe<br /><br />And now, the nickname of this <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Dee_Williams">Wiimote</a> hack brings back many memories for us. When we laid eyes on the thing, it was as if a million voices cried out to us to post this. So, we did just that. Head past the break for some more screens from the creation of this thing and tell us what you think.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/14/wiimote-colt-45-hack-works-every-time/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wiimote Colt 45 hack 'works every time'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/14/wiimote-colt-45-hack-works-every-time/">Wiimote Colt 45 hack 'works every time'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 14 Feb 2008 18:00:00 EST. Follow the example of Wii owner Chung Dha Lam and slap something together from sheets of plastic or an old cereal box. But don't be fooled by the deceptively simple design of this "shell." It may not look like much, but the template was carefully designed in Adobe Illustrator, and the creator has kindly made it available for download if you'd like to construct your own from whatever's lying around in your house. <br /><br /><br /><br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/simple-gun-mod-makes-use-of-scraps/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Simple gun mod makes use of scraps</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/simple-gun-mod-makes-use-of-scraps/">Simple gun mod makes use of scraps</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 21 Jan 2008 16:00:00 EST. We haven't had a chance to play any Wii games with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/26/perfect-shot-is-perfect-fodder-for-hysterical-headlines/">Nyko Perfect Shot</a> yet, since this gun appears to be out of stock <em>everywhere</em>, but we want to. Sure, it may not come with a copy of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/metareview-links-crossbow-training/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Link's Crossbow Training</span></a>, but the Perfect Shot seems more <span style="font-style: italic;">functional</span> than the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/13/wii-zapper-gets-unboxed/">Wii Zapper</a>, at least. We'd love to know whether this peripheral is as good as it looks. Have any of you fine readers had a chance to try it out?<br /><br />Check after the break to see a similar video, but this time explaining the features of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/08/nyko-introduces-first-third-party-wii-guitar/">Nyko Wireless Guitar</a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/11/a-closer-look-at-the-nyko-perfect-shot-and-wireless-guitar/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>A closer look at the Nyko Perfect Shot and Wireless Guitar</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/11/a-closer-look-at-the-nyko-perfect-shot-and-wireless-guitar/">A closer look at the Nyko Perfect Shot and Wireless Guitar</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 Jan 2008 17:00:00 EST. Cruising around the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ces08">CES</a> show floor, Siliconera's Spencer stopped in his tracks when he noticed this full line-up of Wii weapons. Wacky packaging with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/29/sparkling-vibration-gun-controller-makes-your-pew-pews-feel-li/">kooky bulleted lists</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/playing-easily-shooting-happily/">random video game characters</a> dropped in aren't going to sell your product. It's all in the presentation (and, uh, quality and price)!<br /><br />You probably already guessed this from the watermark, but import shop Play Asia has these Wii remote shells available for preorder for $19.90. As far as we can tell, the only advantages it has over Nintendo's official Zapper are its badass box and magazine-molded handle.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/12/29/yes-its-a-gun/">Yes, it's a GUN</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 29 Dec 2007 20:00:00 EST. Get ready to blow away the competition with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Nyko/">Nyko</a>'s Perfect Shot, the most gun-looking peripheral yet for the Wii. That is one fine piece of plastic Glock-like craftsmanship, almost makes you want to ... well, it's <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Nyko-87030-Wii-Perfect-Shot/dp/B000X2RKOO">available</a> for $13 from Amazon after Christmas.<br /><br />Following the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/18/washington-post-expects-wii-zapper-backlash-too-gun-like/"><em>Washington Post</em>'s take on the toyish Wii Zapper</a>, we can't help but wonder how things would have played out if Nyko's Perfect Shot was on the market at the time. Doesn't it just beg to be painted metallic black? Depending on how the nunchuk actually attaches to this thing, it could actually be a cool looking peripheral for those who don't think toy guns will bring down civilization as we know it.<br /><br />[Via <a target="_blank" href="http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2007/11/26/perfect-shot-is-perfect-fodder-for-hysterical-headlines/">WiiFanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/27/nykos-perfect-shot-critics-surely-ready-to-take-aim/">Nyko's Perfect Shot, critics surely ready to take aim</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 27 Nov 2007 13:26:00 EST. <br />If, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/18/washington-post-expects-wii-zapper-backlash-too-gun-like/">like the <em>Washington Post</em></a>, you expect hysteria to reign over the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zapper/">Zapper</a>, just wait until the mainstream press catches a glimpse of Nyko's contribution to the ever-growing pile of third-party alternatives.<br /><br />The "Perfect Shot" is the most gun-like shell we've seen to date, a world away from the Zapper's unoffending curves and thoroughly <em>un-gun-like</em> appearance. And we'd bet our very last cent on it provoking outraged bleating from the press (and perhaps even <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/24/jack-thompson-shows-how-smart-he-is-on-fox-news/">a certain lawyer</a>), who will no doubt make gossamer-thin links between a plastic toy and real-life violence in the process.<br /><br />So, in a Wii Fanboy <em>world exclusive</em>, we're going to beat them to the punch: if <strong>you</strong> want to train <strong>your</strong> child to be <strong>a cold-blooded, callous killer</strong>, you can pick up the Nyko Perfect Shot for just $13 on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Nyko-87030-Wii-Perfect-Shot/dp/B000X2RKOO">Amazon</a> from December 24, and raise a <strong>murderer</strong>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/26/perfect-shot-is-perfect-fodder-for-hysterical-headlines/">Perfect Shot is perfect fodder for hysterical headlines</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 26 Nov 2007 13:30:00 EST. Seeing as it's (kind of) the next upcoming major Wii peripheral, we think it's worth our time to look at lots of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/29/point-blank-shots-of-the-ghost-squad-zapper-bundle/">hardware pictures</a> of the thing and scrutinize its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/28/wii-warm-up-on-design/">design</a>. GAME Watch felt the same way as we do, except they <em>got one.<br /><br /></em>Luckily for us, they took a bunch of detailed pictures from different angles, of the peripheral alone and in use. We thought the picture above was interesting, because we don't usually see the two-handed approach in Zapper demonstrations. We think you'll agree-- it's nice to have the option, but it looks totally goofy with this gun shell design. If only they would give us such a detailed overview of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/a-suitable-substitute-for-a-dolphin-shaped-zapper/">shark gun</a>!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/05/inspect-the-zapper-even-more-closely/">Inspect the Zapper even more closely</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Nov 2007 12:00:00 EST. The poster, as seen in the screenshot above, depicts what looks to be a <em>Gun</em> sequel called <em>Gun: Magruder's Ghost </em>featuring the cliche tag line "Even from beyond the grave". So, we're left wondering if this is a real <em>Gun</em> sequel announcement or if those artists over at Activision like messing with our heads and find it to be a funny <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_egg_(virtual)">easter egg</a> joke. We find it a little odd but plausible that <em>Gun: Magruder's Ghost</em> would be announced this way, so we'll leave it up to you to make the call to what this all means.<br />
<br />
And if you're one of those fanboys who doesn't believe picture evidence, instead needing to experience it for yourself, then this is how you find the poster. Simply fire up your newly downloaded <em>THPG</em> demo, head down the beginning hill until you spot a large staircase on your left. You'll be able to see the poster on top of said staircase.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/12/gun-sequel-announced-via-poster-in-thpg-demo/">Gun sequel announced via poster in THPG demo?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 12 Sep 2007 14:15:00 EST. Whether or not you like the coming <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/a-closer-look-at-the-wii-zapper/">Wii Zapper</a> aside -- though you can talk about the design if you'd like -- we're curious as to whether or not you think it's even necessary. If there's one thing that the combination of the Wii remote and nunchuk can probably pull off, it's mimicking the action of <em>shooting</em>. Just point and pull the "trigger," i.e., the B button. So. Thoughts?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/23/wii-warm-up-zappin/">Wii Warm Up: Zappin'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 23 Jul 2007 09:00:00 EST. When Nintendo announces a new peripheral, it's <em>big news</em>, and <em>big news</em> needs <em>big images.</em> They sent along a high resolution picture of their new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/11/nintendo-reveals-wii-zapper/">Zapper</a>, and we thought we'd pass it on to you so you can begin your careful inspection of Nintendo's workmanship and industrial design.<br /><br />Also, this might work as a reference model for a <a href="http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/cellphones/apple-iphone-papercraft-model-227902.php">papercraft version</a>, if you're impatient and want the semi-authentic feel of a Wii Zapper in your hands. Having already <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/19/painted-and-sprinkled-with-fairy-dust/">given his console wings</a>, AcidMods' CyberPyrot affixed an IR sensor from a Wii remote into the barrel of his gray, plastic pistol, wiring the gun's trigger with the controller's. <br /><br />The resulting apparatus looks a bit clunky, especially when you consider that the nunchuck hasn't even been hooked up yet, but CyberPyrot claims that it vastly improved his performance when playing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/farcry"><em>Far Cry</em></a>. <br />Unlike other "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zapper">zapper</a>" products like <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/01/and-the-third-party-blasters-keep-on-coming/">Joytech's Blaster</a>, the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/pega">Pega</a> pistol doesn't have a cavity for you to dock the Wii's nunchuck. Instead, you connect the nunchuck's cord under the butt of the $15 gun while the remote slides and locks into its top half. We're not sure yet if this is a more cumbersome or convenient implementation, but given our experiences with cheap, third-party <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/category/peripherals/">accessories</a> from Chinese manufacturers, you can easily guess which side we're leaning towards. <br /><br />If you're wondering why we're even bothering to bring up this lackluster peripheral, it's because we love to scrutinize the packaging of these products! What's up with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/splintercell"><em>Splinter Cell</em></a> graphics? And why is it branded with that same inapplicable <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/wiisports"><em>Wii Sports</em></a> logo we saw on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/20/rechargeable-controller-grip/">Fire Bird's rechargeable controller grip</a>? No, it is merely a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=light+gun">light-gun</a> arcade game that Sega has decided to port to our fair console.<br /><br />If you've never had the fortune to come across <em>Ghost Squad's</em> arcade cabinet, it's an on-rails shooter that comes armed with plastic assault rifles for you to aim with. Playing without the modeled weaponry sounds like a downgraded experience, so hopefully there will be optional <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=controller+shells">controller shells</a> for us to equip by the time <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/sega">Sega</a> releases the game this holiday season.<br /><br />This port will feature Wii-specific game modes, new ways to use the Wii remote as a "multi-purpose tool," and four-player co-op support. We've got a few screenshots that we grabbed from Jeux-France past the post break, but uh ... they're not very flattering. We think we'll stick with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/umbrellachronicles"><em>Umbrella Chronicles</em></a> for all our light gun needs for now. </p><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/10/sega-haunts-the-wii-with-ghost-squad/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sega haunts the Wii with Ghost Squad</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/10/sega-haunts-the-wii-with-ghost-squad/">Sega haunts the Wii with Ghost Squad</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 May 2007 16:00:00 EST. The Sharp Shooter combines the nunchuk with the Wiimote. <br />With the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/04/resident-evil-4-on-wii-official-umbrella-chronicles-an-on-rails/">announcement</a> of <em>Resident Evil 4</em> and <em>Umbrella Chronicles</em> for the Wii, coupled with the still <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/07/dunk-hunt-others-get-esrbs-thumbs-up-zapper-imminent">unreleased</a> Virtual Console titles <em>Duck Hunt</em> and <em>Hogan's Alley</em>, it's time to start asking, "Where's the Wii Zapper?" Gamestop has <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802669">listed</a> the Wii Blaster for $20 and what we strongly believe to be a placeholder date of May 1. Although, this isn't necessarily the most improbable date with the <em>Resident Evil </em>games expected to have a summer release.<br /><br />The Gamestop listing has no photo of the what the <strike>Zapper</strike> Blaster looks like now. The last time we saw her she was behind glass at E3 with a "work in progress" sign. We're really looking forward to having a gun, these first-person shooters just don't feel natural with a Wiimote. Now give us a game that allows for dual wielding Blasters and that's a guaranteed $50 going to that publisher!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/05/wii-blaster-incoming/">Wii Blaster incoming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 05 Apr 2007 01:00:00 EST. For those of you who may not know, Black Friday (so very appropriately named) is the Friday immediately after Thanksgiving, when stores feature gargantuan sales in an effort to suck shoppers in and kick-start the Christmas shopping season.<br /><br />Best Buy is having an $18.99 sale featuring:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em>Amped 3</em></li>
    <li><em>Condemned</em></li>
    <li><em>NBA Live '06</em></li>
    <li><em>Rockstar Games Presents: Table Tennis</em></li>
    <li><em>The Outfit </em>(apparently you can score this one for only $9.99 if you buy it in-store before noon)<br /></li>
</ul>
Circuit City offers a different set at $16.99:<br />
<ul>
    <li><em>Full Auto</em></li>
    <li><em>Gun</em></li>
    <li><em>Perfect Dark Zero</em></li>
    <li><em>Quake 4</em></li>
    <li><em>Tony Hawk's American Wasteland</em></li>
</ul>
Our advice is to call the stores to find out if these deals will be available online and stay inside. Black Friday is normally a hellish experience with a lot of pushing, shoving and greed. In fact, we're surprised Rockstar hasn't made a video game version yet. <br /><br /><em>Your mission: take out other shoppers before they can get your sale items.</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/13/black-friday-megadeals-for-xbox-360/">Black Friday megadeals for Xbox 360</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Nov 2006 18:35:00 EST. Enjoy!]<br /><br />We've heard about this mysterious "multiplayer" mode in <em>Red Steel</em>, but it was fraught with mystery and shroud ... till now. IGN has posted the official multiplayer trailer for the game, which you should probably go watch if for nothing else than the entertainment value of the trailer itself. When <em>we </em>play, we're totally ducking behind coffee tables for cover, and then climbing onto the ceiling only to drop down uselessly onto the couch we just left.<br /><br />In any case, the split-screen looks serviceable enough, though very little swordplay was shown (we assume there will be a swords-only option in the final build). Oh, we'll play your game, Activision/Valve PR, and give you another post now. But you're on thin ice.<br /><br />Despite the PR play, we're interested in a big publisher putting somewhat-recent, top-tier games on Steam. We're not convinced that all games will shift to download-only sales -- brick-and-mortar is still magical to us -- but we expect most games to be offered as a physical/virtual choice. (And we don't think <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/10/eb-gamestop-launches-download-service-largely-garbage-declare/">downloading in a physical store</a> is the answer.)<br /><br />However, we expect to save money downloading a game, and these releases will cost about the same as the ones with glossy boxes and printed manuals. Where's the value? We never have to leave home? <em>Call of Duty 2</em> will be $39.95, and all of the others will cost $19.95. All four will be 10%-off for their initial two weeks, but Valve couldn't tell us the exact launch schedule other than that it will happen this month. Maybe the company is saving the date for another press release.<br /><br /><strong>See also:</strong><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/11/psychonauts-and-valve-make-steamy-steam-y-love/">Psychonauts and Valve make steamy, Steam-y love</a><br /><a href="http://pc.joystiq.com/2006/10/10/roboblitz-hitting-steam-soon/">RoboBlitz hitting Steam</a><br /><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/10/eb-gamestop-launches-download-service-largely-garbage-declare/">EB-Gamestop launches download service, "largely garbage" declares 1UP</a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/12/call-of-duty-2-other-activision-games-on-steam/">Call of Duty 2, other Activision games on Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 12 Oct 2006 21:00:00 EST. In the newest feature trailer, I have to admit the game's character model do seem to look a bit better. <br /></p> <p>However, I just can't get over the fact developers <a href="http://www.rebellion.co.uk/">Rebellion</a>/<a href="http://www.neversoft.com/">Neversoft Entertainment</a> seem to be putting too much focus on the character models and the surrounding infrastructure is getting the short end of the stick. <p>Since yesterday was absolutely ruined with it being <a href="http://www.talklikeapirate.com/">International Talk Like A Pirate Day</a>, we ninjas are throwing out a rebuttal. Behold dirty sea-dwellers! <em>Red Steel</em> images! </p>
<p>How could you ever turn away the lifestyle of a ninja when it is so clearly stated in these screens that we absolutely <em>pwn</em>? Just look up at guy-with-tattoo-on-head. He is totally getting chopped in half by one of us. </p>
<p>If that image doesn't convince you, take a look at any of the other screenshots and you'll see. Ninjas for life. </p>

On both sides of the law, Colton learns of a significant Golden Cross.<br /><br />In addition to 5 new missions and wireless multiplayer, the face buttons have been reworked to allow for aiming with the lack of a second analog stick. The added multiplayer will feature the standard Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, along with an added Last Man Standing and Golden Cross. The Golden Cross multiplayer mode will task the players with gaining control of, and holding on to, the Golden Cross. In all, it seems that <em>Gun Showdown</em> will build on its console cousin with more content and replay value.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/20/gun-showdown-q-and-a/">Gun Showdown Q &amp; A</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Jun 2006 10:08:00 EST. Not much is known about the mobile-bound <em>Final Fantasy Agito XIII</em>, but the subtitle-less version of <em>FFXIII</em> will concern a gun-and-sword-toting heroine in a futuristic world, while <em>Final Fantasy Versus XIII</em> will focus on "a spiky-haired character," "extreme action elements," and a primary theme of "bonding" (whatever that means). Anybody ready to "resist the world"?<br /><br />The multiple titles might explain <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/03/31/rumor-final-fantasy-xiii-ps3-exclusive-at-e3/">the earlier rumor</a> reported in March that <em>FFXIII</em> was "practically close to being finished" (maybe only one of these games was nearing completion). Whatever the case may be, we're just happy that more than one not-so-<em>Final-Fantasy</em> will be hitting the next PlayStation in relatively rapid succession. RPG feasting: on the way.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/final-fantasy-xiii-announced-for-ps3/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/3-final-fantasy-xiii-games-2-just-for-ps3/">3 Final Fantasy XIII games; 2 just for PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 08 May 2006 22:05:00 EST. As for <em>Top Gun</em>, well...is anyone excited for this game?<br />

The first-person shooter, which should trot into stores this fall, will be developed by Neversoft and
UK-based Rebellion Studios and will feature PSP-exclusive features like extra missions, a quick play mode, and
multiplayer modes (although we're unsure if GameSpot implied "modes" to mean both Ad-hoc and
Infrastructure).<br /><br /><em>Gun</em> didn't fire off blanks when it debuted last year on all major consoles
and PC, but as with all ports, we're still hoping that the retooled control scheme and graphical scale-back
don't cripple this pony on the PSP.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/10/activision-shoots-out-more-gun-info/">Activision shoots out more Gun info</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Apr 2006 21:15:00 EST.
