They'll track time in spent in the game overall and for each individual bounty.

Developer Just Add Water is working on the patch now, Expansive DLC reports, though there is currently no timetable for release, and the new build has yet to be submitted for certification.

The patch will also address a pair of problems that players have complained about: a flickering sky glitch and a lack of alternate controls. After the patch is issued, Stranger's Wrath HD will include an option to disable the PS Vita's rear touch-pad controls. When asked for comment, the rear touch-pad on our PS Vita replied, "Awwww man, really?"

Developer Just Add Water took on the mantle of Oddworld Inhabitant's most celebrated title, bringing out a base-level update for PC in 2010 and a fully touched up HD version on PS3 (and, again, PC) in 2011. Now Stranger's Wrath HD has been converted to PlayStation Vita and released via PSN, again with a few changes and additions to the formula - this time to suit the portable, touch-enabled console it's being housed on.

Stranger's Wrath itself was one of the most-loved of Lorne Lanning and co's creations, though the sales figures behind the original left the game residing firmly in 'cult classic' status. It told the story of the eponymous Stranger - a nameless enigma making his way around an old west-styled world, trying to save enough 'moolah' to buy a life-saving operation - and with a twist that nearly made the forums of 2005 explode. In other words, perfect fodder for an inexpensive re-release and hopefully enough to guarantee greater sales thanks to the power of seven years' word-of-mouth.

The new PS Vita version of the game is now available for download through PSN, for $15. An HD version of the quirky shooter (which originally came out on the Xbox and later PC) was made for the PS3 last year.

The Vita version of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath features the enhanced graphics of the Just Add Water remake, and makes use of the Vita's front and back touchscreens for "extra controls."

If you haven't had a chance to play one of Oddworld's best, it's time to log into PSN and check it out.

Come December 18, that road will finally wind its way onto the PlayStation Vita, when the Oddworld shooter debuts on PSN for Sony's handheld.

The news comes via developer Just Add Water's Twitter account, which also addresses a few questions from fans. Firstly, Stranger's Wrath HD will not support cross play with the PS3 version, nor will it support cross buy. In other words, the PS versions will not interact with one another, and require separate purchases for each platform. As for a European release, the developer advises fans to ask about it again in a week.

In addition to the obvious boon of higher-resolution textures and character models built from more polygons, the HD release also includes 12 new Steamworks achievements that weren't in the original port, as well as new unlockable concept art and movie extras, additional difficulty levels, more Easter eggs and improved PC controls.

Coincidentally, the Oddboxx collection has also been marked down by 30 percent for the next 30 hours, meaning that you can snag Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Oddworld: Abe's Exodus, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD for $10.49.

Other additions in the update include video recording/uploading, brightness and gamma controls, audio tweaks and a barn full of other fixins that y'all will like.

The patch goes live on the PlayStation Network at 7PM Eastern (4PM Pacific) on June 26 and a little after midnight on June 27 in Europe. Head on over to the Oddworld for the full patch notes.

"That's my intention," Gilray said. "The QA might say 'noooo' but that's my plan anyway."

The Vita version includes tweaks to make the game more natural on a handheld, like the ability to switch between third- and first-person views by double-tapping on the touchscreen, and using a "pinch" gesture to zoom.

Gilray also hopes to get the HD update of Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee out in June. That's planned for PS3 and Xbox, though of course only the PS3 version was mentioned.

Though Just Add Water has been in talks with Microsoft to publish the game itself, it sounds like the developer will be making some alternative accommodations.

"We've basically run everything dry in terms of going some kind of first-party route with Microsoft, be it them publishing it or be it us publishing it ourselves," said Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray during an interview with VG247. "So we're now having to go down the third-party route."

The developer is in talks with "two or three" publishers and hopes to have more information to announce by Easter, although Gilray did not give specifics regarding which publishers may be interested in helping the cause. It's unclear how working through a third-party publisher will aid in resolving (or circumnavigating) the game's size issue, but we're glad to see that Just Add Water is still trying.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD is coming to the European PSN on December 21, and to the US store on December 27.

Headed by Gravity Crash developer Just Add Water, the Stranger's Wrath overhaul contains -- among other things -- upgraded character models, enriched environments, bug fixes, difficulty modifiers and even minor corrections to visual continuity. (Example: "Sekto's Office has been changed to more closely resemble that seen in the FMV.") You'll get all that for $14.99 (or £9.99), alongside the stuff we loved back in 2005: unusual weaponry, off-beat characters and, err, not-so-subtle commentary on the ecological devastation wrought by rampant consumerism and corporate expansion. It's Oddworld.

Just Add Water also announced via Twitter that the HD updates would come to the PC version of Stranger's Wrath within two to three months. The PlayStation 3 game will also get an update within a "couple months," adding the Move and 3D support that was planned but not implemented in time.

According to an Oddworld representative posting in the comments, these Trophies should also become available on the Steam version of Stranger's Wrath, and any subsequent platform that supports achievements.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD is complete, according to the developers, and now awaits a final release date on PS3 and Vita. Talks with Microsoft regarding an Xbox 360 version are still ongoing.

The company says a release date should be announced "soon," and passed along a list of updates it made from the original 2005 Xbox title.

The list is pretty extensive, but some highlights include: updates to all 84 character models (including the live ammo), general environmental upgrades like reflective water, enhanced audio, and everything runs at 720P at 60FPS in widescreen.

For those willing to wait for a portable version of the update, Just Add Water announced in June that Stranger's Wrath and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee would mosey on over to the PlayStation Vita, complete with cross-platform cloud save functionality.
