Devoted fans know the nuances of some of the biggest moments in the business' history well, from the formation of the Brothers of Destruction to Stone Cold Steve Austin soaking Vince McMahon in beer. A video game that dives into the rich history of the WWE is forced to reconcile all the details of the entertainment product. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/wwe-13"><em>WWE 13</em></a> often meets those expectations, but is not the best there is, was, or ever will be.<br /><br />Much like past games, <em>WWE 13</em> continues to push the illusion of wrestling, which is perfectly acceptable. It's a combat game with fighting mechanics, and some of those mechanics have been cleaned up since last year. One-button reversals now have an added indicator to tell you if your trigger finger is too fast or too slow (based on the small window to execute reversals, it often is). The "OMG" moments addition provide spectacular, albeit circumstantial events that can turn the tide of matches - things like trucking an opponent through the outside barrier by the crowd or heavier opponents actually causing the ring to collapse. Aside from these improvements, the in-ring action hasn't seen much change; players seem to transition a little more smoothly between moves, and most of the buggy, "jarring" animations in <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/wwe-12"><em>WWE 12</em></a> were cleaned up. Wrestling feels largely the same in this game, just a touch more fluid.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wwe-13-10-4-12/">WWE '13 (10/4/12)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wwe-13-10-4-12/#5337037"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/wwe13-7408aj1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wwe-13-10-4-12/#5337038"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/wwe13-7409antoniocesaro1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wwe-13-10-4-12/#5337039"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/wwe13-7410antoniocesaro2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wwe-13-10-4-12/#5337040"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/wwe13-7411brianpillman1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/wwe-13-10-4-12/#5337041"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/10/wwe13-7412cenatitle1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/05/wwe-13-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WWE 13 review: Gimme a hell yeah</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/05/wwe-13-review/">WWE 13 review: Gimme a hell yeah</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Nov 2012 19:00:00 EST. We've long believed that Diablo fans would glom on to any Diablo-esque game no matter what it was called, but Wizarbox and Focus Home Interactive are really putting that to the test with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/raw"><em>R.A.W.</em></a> And yes, as the trailer after the break clearly demonstrates, it's really, honestly called that.<br />
<br />
As you'll see, the XBLA, PSN and PC release (due in 2012) doesn't stray too far from its demonic source material. In fact, the only real question we're left with is whether or not the fact that "R.A.W." <em>literally</em> stands for "Realms of Ancient War" makes the title better or worse.<br />
<br />
... Oh, actually, scratch that. We just decided on "way, way better."<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/19/raw-is-war-riors-and-wizards-and-stuff/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>RAW is WAR...riors and wizards and stuff</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/19/raw-is-war-riors-and-wizards-and-stuff/">RAW is WAR...riors and wizards and stuff</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 19 Jun 2011 18:30:00 EST. Here's what fans can expect in <span style="font-style: italic;">Smackdown! vs Raw 2008</span>:<br />
<ul>
    <li>A big focus this year is making more differentiated, and complex fighting styles</li>
    <li>A vastly improved and more realistic animation system, with more animations than ever before, and a motion blending system</li>
    <li>The motion blending system also allows for better controls of your wrestlers</li>
    <li>ECW's inclusion means lots more weapons in the game</li>
    <li>24/7 mode will allow the gamer to experience the ECW invasion and as always work their way through the ranks to become WWE champ</li>
</ul>
Yuke's wants <span style="font-style: italic;">Smackdown!</span> to be one of the premier fighting games on all the systems. We'll have to wait for the title's release to see how they do.<br />

This second-place clip comes from <em>WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2007</em>.<br /><br />We peer into the behind-the-scenes soap-opera action that gives pro wrestling a story arc it always missed. We used to ask, "Why are these guys fighting?" Now we know, although this clip raises more questions than it answers.<br /><br />After some wooden back-and-forth dialogue, the scene takes a surprise twist into gender bending. What? We don't understand either, but maybe future scenes balance <em>Bully's</em> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/22/boy-on-boy-kissing-in-bully/">boy-on-boy kissing</a>.<br /><br />See the whole video after the break.<br /><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/10/todays-hottest-game-video-wrestling-surprise/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Today's hottest game video: wrestling surprise</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/10/todays-hottest-game-video-wrestling-surprise/">Today's hottest game video: wrestling surprise</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 10 Nov 2006 00:00:00 EST.
