Tommo Inc. announced the handheld console's December 6 launch date for North America overnight, and put detail to the various pre-installed software it comes packed with (<em>King of the Monsters</em> and <em>Samurai Showdown 2</em> are our personal highlights, but the full list of 20 games is below the break). The system also comes with the charging dock and joystick you see above, included in the $200 price.<br /><br />Beyond being a handheld Neogeo - which, admittedly, is pretty neat -the system doubles as a home console and can be hooked up to TVs/monitors via HDMI or traditional RCA. As such, an external joystick works with the device (though we'd suggest keeping that joystick locked to your domicile rather than take it on the go).<br /><br />It's unclear what retailers will carry the Neogeo X Gold just yet, but Tommo works with <a href="http://www.tommo.com/home/content.asp?c=retail">the usual brick-and-mortar suspects</a> (Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop, etc.) Distribution in Europe and Asia is being handled separately, and no prices or dates are given for either territory.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/13/neogeo-x-gold-portable-arrives-this-december-for-a-whopping-2/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>'Neogeo X Gold' portable arrives this December for a whopping $200</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/13/neogeo-x-gold-portable-arrives-this-december-for-a-whopping-2/">'Neogeo X Gold' portable arrives this December for a whopping $200</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 Aug 2012 04:40:00 EST. Instead, <em>King of Fighters Android</em> is King of Fighters game for Google's Android OS, which is probably a more reasonable business decision in the long run. Judging from the screenshots below, it appears to be based on <em>King of Fighters XIII</em>, or at least heavily influenced by its art style. The game features 20 fighters, five different play modes and unlockable bonus content like trading cards and concept art.<br /><br /><a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ggee.vividruntime.gg_1403">Available now</a> for $4.99, the game is officially compatible with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/">Galaxy S 2</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/">Galaxy Tab 10.1</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/13/sony-launches-xperia-acro-in-japan-march-15/">Xperia Acro HD</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xperia-play">Xperia Play</a>, which should be a good fit for the title considering it has <em>actual buttons</em>. Compatibility with other Android devices is untested and should be attempted at your own risk; two marketplace reviews already indicate the game does not function on the Galaxy Nexus.<span style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande', verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; text-align: left; "><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-king-of-fighters-android/">The King of Fighters Android</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-king-of-fighters-android/#4912887"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kof-android1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-king-of-fighters-android/#4912888"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kof-android2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-king-of-fighters-android/#4912889"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kof-android3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-king-of-fighters-android/#4912890"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kof-android4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-king-of-fighters-android/#4912891"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/03/kof-android5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></span><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/22/king-of-fighters-android-now-on-select-android-devices-for-4-99/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>King of Fighters Android now on select Android devices for $4.99</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/22/king-of-fighters-android-now-on-select-android-devices-for-4-99/">King of Fighters Android now on select Android devices for $4.99</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Mar 2012 18:00:00 EST. <em><strong><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/catherine">Catherine</a></strong></em><br />
I have a soft spot for the bizarre and the esoteric. If something is complicated, either through the machinations of its mechanical workings or through the intricacies of its conceptual nature, its hard for me to focus on anything else until I feel like I really <em>understand</em> what I'm looking at. <em>Catherine</em> gave me something to think about, and also made me think about myself, which isn't something I can usually say about puzzle/dating games.<br />
<br />
The experience is complicated in both the literal and metaphorical sense; its ever-changing puzzle gameplay and surprisingly deep, multifaceted story are the result of brilliant design decisions, exceptional writing and an amazing localization job by Atlus. <em>Catherine</em> managed to satiate my craving for the intellectually surreal while immersing me in the delightfully idiosyncratic world of Japanese storytelling.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/03/best-of-the-rest-jordans-picks-for-2011/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Best of the Rest: Jordan's picks for 2011</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/03/best-of-the-rest-jordans-picks-for-2011/">Best of the Rest: Jordan's picks for 2011</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 03 Jan 2012 18:30:00 EST. Originally slated for a simultaneous 360 and PS3 release on December 20, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/king-of-fighters-xiii"><em>King of Fighters XIII</em></a>'s upcoming "NESTS Kyo" character DLC pack has been delayed for PS3 fighters until January 10. A fantastically vague "technical error" is to blame for the issue, according to the Atlus press release after the break. In order to make it up to you, SNK Playmore will be lowering the character's cost to $2.99 for a limited time once it lands.<br />
<br />
In somewhat sunnier <em>KoFXIII</em> news, Atlus is also planning a substantial netcode patch for both versions of the game which is said to "make the game's network infrastructure more consistent for users, ensuring that the evaluation given connections is more accurate to the actual play experience." The patch will also introduce minimum signal strength requirement settings on the host side of matchmaking, so players will be able to prevent users with poor connections from joining their open match. SNK Playmore plans on releasing the patch "as soon as possible."<br />

It's tough living in someone else's shadow. Your achievements may be numerous and impressive, but existing outside of the limelight can be disheartening after a while. Constantly fighting for relevance in a crowded genre is a consuming, arduous fight; one that SNK Playmore has waged ever since <em>Fatal Fury: King of Fighters</em> went toe to toe with <em>Street Fighter II</em> in 1991.<br />
<br />
The result of that fight may be contentious in the mind of the fighting game community, but Joe Public and his <em>Mortal Kombat</em> Blu-ray feel otherwise; while series like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat invaded American pop-culture and became household names, King of Fighters continued to toil away in obscurity, releasing game after game for its dedicated cult following.<br />
<br />
Things are different now, though. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/street-fighter-iv"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a> kick-started a renaissance in fighting games, reigniting the mainstream consumer's interest in the genre, which paved the way for impossibilities like <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/marvel-vs-capcom-3-fate-of-two-worlds">Marvel vs. Capcom 3</a></em> and the incredibly successful rebirth of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/mortal-kombat-2011"><em>Mortal Kombat</em></a>. In this new age of fighters, could it finally be SNK Playmore's time to shine? Will their latest entry, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/king-of-fighters-xiii"><em>King of Fighters XIII</em></a>, capture the minds and hearts of those unfamiliar with series?<br />
<br />
Probably not. SNK Playmore remains so unplugged from what is happening in the rest of the genre that its latest excursion feels like an old friend, rather than a revolution. Because of this, however, <em>King of Fighters XIII</em> is the best KOF game ever made, despite the fact that it isn't as flashy or user friendly as its contemporaries.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xiii-6-10-11/">King of Fighters XIII (6/10/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xiii-6-10-11/#4214506"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/kofxiiiscreens01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xiii-6-10-11/#4214507"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/kofxiiiscreens02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xiii-6-10-11/#4214508"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/kofxiiiscreens03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xiii-6-10-11/#4214509"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/kofxiiiscreens04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xiii-6-10-11/#4214510"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/kofxiiiscreens05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/24/king-of-fighters-xiii-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>King of Fighters XIII review: Sweep the leg</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/24/king-of-fighters-xiii-review/">King of Fighters XIII review: Sweep the leg</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 24 Nov 2011 10:00:00 EST. Atlus's pre-order bonus for <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/king-of-fighters-xiii"><em>The King of Fighters XIII</em></a> is the only freebie soundtrack in recent memory to be worth its own trailer. The massive four-disc "The King of Soundtracks 94-XIII" is definitely worth the honor, containing over 100 tracks from 13 games.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/26/king-of-fighters-xiii-the-soundtrack-the-trailer/">King of Fighters XIII: The Soundtrack: The Trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 26 Oct 2011 06:00:00 EST. In an email sent to its "Faithful" fan mailing list, Atlus revealed plans to localize SNK's PS3/Xbox 360 fighting game <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/king-of-fighters-xiii"><em>The King of Fighters XIII</em></a>, for a North American release "this holiday season."<br />
<br />
Originally released last year in Japan, the latest release in SNK's fighting dynasty includes over 30 characters, a significant step up from the 20 included in the last game. "Back by popular demand, your favorite fighters rejoin the roster including K', Vice, Kula, Maxima and more," the website says, in front of an image of Mai, Yuri, and King -- none of whom appeared in <em>KOF XII</em>. In addition, the sequel promises a "rebuilt online mode" for enhanced stability.<br />
<br />
Atlus linked to Amazon's <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054IN5AA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=atlus-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217153&amp;creative=399701&amp;creativeASIN=B0054IN5AA">pre-order</a> <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054IN5RI/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=atlus-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217153&amp;creative=399701&amp;creativeASIN=B0054IN5RI">pages</a> on the website, both of which have <em>KOF XIII</em> arriving in October for $50. That's not exactly as trustworthy as a royal decree, but it's encouraging.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/07/the-king-of-fighters-xiii-makes-a-royal-appearance-on-ps3-and-xb/">The King of Fighters XIII makes a royal appearance on PS3 and Xbox, escorted by Atlus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 07 Jun 2011 09:45:00 EST. We've always said that if there's one thing Xbox Live Arcade is lacking, it's more side-scrolling shmups starring pre-teen witches on broomsticks. Thanks goodness, then, that SNK has heard our plaintive cries and plans to release an Xbox 360 port of its coin-op descent into horizontal bullet hell, <em>Trouble Witches Neo</em>, as a downloadable title on April 27.<br />
<br />
Right now, the release is only official for Japan -- where the game will run 800 Microsoft Points ($10) -- but <a href="http://game.snkplaymore.co.jp/game/xbla/lineup/trouble-witches.php/">in describing the title</a>, SNK makes specific mention of <em>global</em> online co-op and leaderboards. Given the publisher's track record of releasing its XBLA games in the West soon after their Japanese debuts, it shouldn't be long before we find out which Wednesday these witches will be stirring up trouble on US consoles.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/13/trouble-witches-neo-sweeps-xbla-april-27-in-japan-snk-hints-at/">Trouble Witches Neo sweeps XBLA April 27 in Japan, SNK hints at global release</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 Apr 2011 23:59:00 EST. Unlike most SNK collections (like <em>Metal Slug Collection</em> and <em>SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1</em>) that offer games exclusive to Neo Geo, <em>SNK Arcade Classics 0</em> is a collection of 20 games made by the company before the release of the Neo Geo hardware. <br />
<br />
Yes, finally, you'll be able to get <em>Ikari Warriors</em> and <em>Athena</em> on the same disc, along with <em>Psycho Soldier</em>, <em>P.O.W.</em>, and a lot of vintage SNK games we've never heard of. Find the full list after the break, as transcribed by <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/02/01/snk_collection_zero/">Andriasang</a>. Many of them were originally released in vertical format, a setup emulated on PSP by holding the device sideways.<br />
<br />
An <a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=28009&amp;searchkeyword=snk%20arcade%20classics">ESRB rating</a> for <em>SNK Arcade Classics 0</em> has been online since late 2009, suggesting that SNK has plans to release this collection stateside. Of course, the rating occurring that long ago also means SNK has had plenty of time to change its mind.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/01/snk-arcade-classics-0-for-psp-goes-deep-into-the-back-catalog/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>'SNK Arcade Classics 0' for PSP goes deep into the back catalog</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/01/snk-arcade-classics-0-for-psp-goes-deep-into-the-back-catalog/">'SNK Arcade Classics 0' for PSP goes deep into the back catalog</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 Feb 2011 13:20:00 EST. The Neo Geo Pad USB is a replica of the pad included with the Neo Geo CD system, with two important differences: it ends in a USB connector, so it will work with the PS3 or PC; and it has a PS button and two extra face buttons for L1 and R1 -- laid out in a nice, <em>Street Fighter</em>-friendly manner.<br />
<br />
The pad is currently on backorder at both <a href="http://www.shopncsx.com/neogeopadusb.aspx">NCSX</a> and <a href="http://www.play-asia.com/NeoGeo_Pad_USB/paOS-13-71-zl-49-en-70-3xf7.html">Play-Asia</a>, but it'll cost in the neighborhood of $50 when it's in stock. If you'd prefer, you can get a PS3 version of the Neo Geo arcade stick from NCSX right now for <a href="http://www.shopncsx.com/neogeostick2.aspx">$39.90</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/17/snk-releases-neo-geo-pad-for-ps3/">SNK releases Neo Geo pad for PS3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 Dec 2010 08:30:00 EST. You'll be doing much more than <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/01/konami-deals-out-yu-gi-oh-5ds-decade-duels-on-xbla-this-week/">courting intense card battles</a> with this week's Xbox Live Arcade releases -- you'll also be punching, kicking, and ... uh ... <em>jumpkicking</em> fools with the release of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-king-of-fighters-2002-unlimited-match">King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match</a></em>. The fighter gets a facelift and an audio upgrade, alongside an "extensively redesigned" character balance. If that weren't enough, <em>KOF 2002: UM</em> features "the most playable characters ever in the <em>KOF</em> series," with 66 fighters in total.<br />
<br />
The game will run you 800 MS Points ($10) this Wednesday when it arrives on Xbox Live Marketplace. And hey, for a game that evidently features unlimited matches, that's a heck of a price.<br />
<br />

<strong>Update: </strong>A benevolent tipster has pointed us to some screens and the official English trailer for <em>Trouble Witches Neo</em>. Check out the screens in the gallery below and find the trailer after the break. Thanks, <a href="http://www.sabworks.com/">SAB CA</a>!<br />
<br />
What's that? You say you want another <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/cave">Japanese shooter</a> on your Xbox 360? Well, SNK Playmore is happy to oblige! The company has announced that it's bringing <em>Trouble Witches Neo</em> to Xbox Live Arcade. <a href="http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/10/20/trouble_witches_xla/">Andriasang</a> notes that <em>Trouble Witches</em> originated on PC back in 2007 and was brought to arcades in 2009. It features witches -- presumably troublesome ones -- shooting up baddies in a 2D side-scrolling environment. <em>Trouble Witches Neo</em> includes an additional character Sakurako Kujou, new modes and some sort of Xbox Live support (which could be nothing more than leaderboards).<br />
<br />
<em>Trouble Witches Neo</em> is expected to release this winter for 800 MS Points ($10). <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2010/10/19/trouble-witches-neo-coming-to-xbox-360-thanks-to-neo-geo-makers/">Siliconera</a> also notes that the game has been rated both by Germany's USK and the Australian Classification Board, so it appears it will be released outside of Japan as well. See gameplay of the original version after the break.<br />

SNK Playmore has announced via <a href="http://www.facebook.com/posted.php?id=115381791848274&amp;share_id=168159173201637&amp;comments=1#s168159173201637">its Facebook page</a> that an updated version of the arcade fighter, <em>King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match</em>, is headed to Xbox Live Arcade. The game was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/07/snk-announces-metal-slug-xx-three-more-for-xbla-in-japan/">announced for Japan</a> late last year and is due in "Autumn 2010" here in the US. SNK promises "a high-quality conversion" of the original game, including "all characters from the NESTS CHRONICLES, numerous game modes, along with updated stages, new moves, BGM and graphics." <br />
<br />
The game will include 66 playable characters -- match and character balances will follow the Arcade version of the game, while the presentation of menus and number of characters and game modes will follow the expanded PS2 version. There's no price currently set for <em>King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match</em>, though <a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584108d1/">the "Ultimate Match" version of <em>King of Fighters '98</em></a> is currently set at 800 MS Points on Xbox Live.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/15/king-of-fighters-2002-unlimited-match-coming-to-xbla-in-autumn/">King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match coming to XBLA in 'Autumn 2010'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Oct 2010 18:00:00 EST. SNK's oddball bullet hell shmup, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/kof-sky-stage"><em>KOF Sky Stage</em></a>, has finally been dated for Xbox Live Arcade -- in Japan, at least. Masochists can check it out on September 15 for 800 MS Points ($10). That's a small price to pay to see Terry Bogard and company fly around and shoot stuff. And, y' know, play a <em>super-tough</em> game. <br />
<br />
The game originally launched in Japanese arcades back in January. PSP users can also <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/28/king-of-fighters-shooter-expanded-for-psp/">access <em>KOF Sky Stage</em> right now in <em>Neo Geo Heroes</em></a>, while those of us in the US can likely look forward to a localized release, so says <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/31/esrb-rates-kof-sky-stage-for-xbox-360/">an ESRB listing</a>. If you're looking to get an early start at finding all of those sweet hiding spots to take refuge from the impending bullet swarms, head past the break for a new trailer.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/03/kof-sky-stage-shoots-up-japanese-xbla-on-september-15/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>KOF Sky Stage shoots up Japanese XBLA on September 15</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/09/03/kof-sky-stage-shoots-up-japanese-xbla-on-september-15/">KOF Sky Stage shoots up Japanese XBLA on September 15</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 03 Sep 2010 06:00:00 EST. We've got two Xbox Live Arcade staples this week. First is <em>Metal Slug XX</em>, which has the advantage of Xbox Live online play over its XBLA cousin, <em>Metal Slug 3</em>. Next, we've got yet another twin-stick shooter in <em>Aqua</em>. As its title suggests, <em>Aqua</em> flavors its twin-stick shooting antics with an extra dose of H20 (and torpedoes).<em> Metal Slug XX</em> will run you 1200<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($15), while <em>Aqua</em> is 800<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" /> ($10). Watch this week's <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/xbla-in-brief">XBLA in Brief</a> and decide if either tickles your fancy for destruction.<br />

Whether it's by land or by sea, you'll have ample opportunity to make things go kaboom this week on Xbox Live Arcade. SNK is offering another side-scrolling actionfest in <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-slug-xx">Metal Slug XX</a> </em>(1200<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />), while Games Distillery launches a steampunk naval warfare title, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/aqua"><em>Aqua</em></a> (800<img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />). Not since <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxYmEYBLgBE">the end of <em>Commando</em></a> has there been such a long line of dudes ready to buy their own farms.<br />

Sure, there were problems with the netcode, but one problem with the roster irritated just as many fans: the omission of the scantily clad ninja, Mai Shiranui. So, naturally, SNK is leading with the bouncy character in its promotion for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/25/snk-playmore-announces-king-of-fighters-xiii-for-arcades/"><em>King of Fighters XIII</em></a>.<br />

A teaser site for the game, opened after a preview event, features a picture of Mai with her trademark fan, along with a note that the game will be released in arcades this summer.<br />

Despite the cool reception to its last <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/king-of-fighters-xii"><em>King of Fighters</em> game</a>, SNK Playmore has announced that it is working on <em>King of Fighters XIII</em>. The fighting game will be shown for the first time at an event in Akihabara on March 25.<br />
<br />
Until then, we know nothing about the game other than that it runs on Taito's TypeX2 arcade hardware -- the same board used by <em>Street Fighter IV, BlazBlue</em>, and, of course, <em>King of Fighters XII</em>. Well, we also know that it has a nice logo. And we're guessing fan favorite Mai Shiranui won't be left out this time.<br />

Glancing at the screens for a moment and ... yup, it's <em>Metal Slug</em> all right. There are dudes, tanks, giant death machines and, of course, plenty of bullets to go around. There is a handful of character art as well, with Atlus promising that each character will have special attributes. For example, Fio Germi (pictured) starts with a machine gun immediately, while Marco Rossi has 2X handgun power. SNK Playmore has released one of its cartoony run-and-guns for the iPhone and iPod Touch. <em>Metal Slug Touch</em> is adapted to the platform in some unexpected ways: for example, instead of putting the player in control of a commando who occasionally happens upon a vehicle, <em>Metal Slug Touch</em> puts you in a vehicle at all times.<br />
<br />
Controls are simplified to make use of the iPhone's features: you move with the accelerometer, and dodge enemies with an "avoid" button. <em>Metal Slug Touch</em> sounds like a fairly bold experiment -- and something that, we suspect, works better than simply porting a console action game over with touch controls.<br />

The bad news is that we're pretty sure it's <em>not</em> coming out. The good news is that <em><a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/10/06/metal-slug-xx-rolls-onto-psp-this-december/">Metal Slug XX</a>, </em>the upgraded, multiplayer-capable PSP remix of the DS game, is replacing it in SNK's 2010 lineup. SNK also announced XBLA ports of two of its fighting games: <em>King of Fighters 2002 Ultimate Match </em>and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NeoGeo_Battle_Coliseum"><em>Neo Geo Battle Coliseum</em></a>. All three will join the weird <em>King of Fighters</em> shooting game, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/snk-developing-king-of-fighters-shmup-for-xbla/"><em>The King of Fighters Sky Stage</em></a>, on XBLA in spring 2010.<br />
<br />
These games have, so far, been announced only for Japan, but we are sure SNK will release them all worldwide -- if only because it would be a waste of effort to develop an XBLA title just for the few people in Japan who would buy it.<br />

<div align="left">Hey, look, it's <em>Metal Slug </em>... er ... oh, right, <em>Double X</em>. (Sorry, had to study the sprites.) Anyway, earlier this month we brought you <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/06/metal-slug-xx-rolls-onto-psp-this-december/">first word of the game</a> -- now it's been <a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=27963">rated by the ESRB</a> (T for "Teen," specifically) which, as we all know, is a prelude to games being announced for domestic release.<br /><br />The game's publisher is listed as SNK Corporation of America itself, seemingly indicating a digital download-only future for the title. That's fine by us -- as long as it doesn't go the way of the M.I.A. PSP minis. The title is set to release on December 23 in Japan, with an asking price of &yen;5,040 ($56). A remixed version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-slug-7"><em>Metal Slug 7</em></a>, the game includes ad-hoc cooperative play, over 70 mini-games and, as is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/metal-slug">tradition</a>, <em>lots</em> of bullets. SNK was kind enough to release a trailer for the game, so you won't have to imagine how chaotic the game will undoubtedly be.<br />
<br />
If you just can't handle all that action, we have some nice, quiet screenshots too.<br />

To put it lightly, online play in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/king-of-fighters-xii/"><em>The King of Fighters XII</em></a> sucks. It's broken, regardless of which platform you play it on. Weeks after the game's release, SNK Playmore has finally released a patch for the PS3 version. According to the press release, the update "fundamentally changes the way game data is processed and synchronized during online matches, placing greater importance on the game's response time and allowing for much smoother play." Online battles should be improved, especially for those with less-than-ideal internet connections.<br /><br />An Xbox 360 version of the patch is also in the works and should be available "very soon." SNK Playmore issued an official apology with the release, promising it will "strive to improve their system of quality control for future titles," but we're wondering how the fighting community will response. For some, this patch may be too little, too late.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-may-21/">King of Fighters XII</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-may-21/#2027699"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/kof052101_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-may-21/#2027698"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/kof052113_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-may-21/#2027697"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/kof052112_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-may-21/#2027696"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/kof052111_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-may-21/#2027695"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/05/kof052110_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/31/king-of-fighters-xii-patch-fixes-online-play/">King of Fighters XII patch fixes online play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 31 Aug 2009 19:00:00 EST. It's been years since we've seen a <em>King of Fighters </em>game and you'd think SNK had some cards hidden up its sleeve but, to be honest, <span style="font-style: italic;">King of Fighters XII</span> is short on the surprises.<br />

If you've been enjoying SNK's latest, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/king-of-fighters-xii"><em>King of Fighters XII</em></a>, you might be interested to learn that SNK and Shanda Games are teaming up to offer a version of that game for the PC. It's going to be called <a href="http://news.prnewswire.com/ViewContent.aspx?ACCT=109&amp;STORY=/www/story/07-30-2009/0005068983&amp;EDATE="><em>KOF World</em></a>, a free-to-play game for the Asian market. Aside from the usual 2D fighting, this new version will also incorporate "MMORPG features by adding a complete multiplayer role playing game (RPG) mode," though exact details on this new mode were not provided. Oh, and if you don't live in Asia, sorry for making you <em>incredibly jealous</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/31/free-to-play-kof-world-to-dropkick-asian-market/">Free-to-play 'KOF World' to dropkick Asian market</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 31 Jul 2009 03:00:00 EST. Lag can be a real buzzkill when you're trying to maintain million-punch combos -- unfortunately, those who got their hands on early copies of SNK Playmore's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/king-of-fighters-xii"><em>King of Fighters XII</em></a> reported some "minor performance issues" during online matches. Fret not, fighting fanatics -- according to a recent email from SNK, the game is receiving a patch today on the PS3 (and " very soon" on the 360) which "should help improve the overall quality and stability of online play."<br /><br />Day-one patches are usually frowned upon, but hey -- at least you won't have to suffer "issues" during your online bouts. Unless you're playing on 360, that is -- you lot will still have to wait for the patch to clear Microsoft's intimidating Certification Gauntlet of Death.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/28/king-of-fighters-xii-patch-to-address-online-play/">King of Fighters XII patch to address online play</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 28 Jul 2009 17:00:00 EST. From SNK's huge library of fighting games, we have <em>King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match</em>. The XBLA version includes online play and will set you back 800<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($10). Meanwhile, Team17 has dropped the sequel to the XBLA version of <em>Worms</em>, which is titled, appropriately enough, <em>Worms 2: Armageddon</em>. The game brings lots of new features to the table -- as well as some old favorites -- and also costs 800<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($10).<br /><br />Watch the latest episode of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla-in-brief">XBLA in Brief</a> and see which one is screaming for your hard-earned cash.<br /><br /><a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584108d1/?of=1"><strong>Download the trial version of <em>King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match</em></strong></a><br /><a href="http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258410912/?p=1&amp;of=1&amp;bt=0&amp;sb=1#offers"><strong>Download the trial version of <em>Worms 2: Armageddon</em></strong></a><br /> <br />[<a href="itpc://feeds.feedburner.com/x3ftv">iTunes</a>] Subscribe to X3F TV directly in iTunes.<br />[<a href="zune://subscribe/?Xbox%20360%20Fanboy=http%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.feedburner.com%2Fx3ftv">Zune</a>] Subscribe to the X3F TV directly.<br />[<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/x3ftv">RSS</a>] Add the X3F TV feed to your RSS aggregator and have the show delivered automatically.<br />[<a href="http://podcasts.aolcdn.com/joystiq/podcasts/xblabrief-worms2.m4v">M4V</a>] Download the M4V directly.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/01/xbla-in-brief-king-of-fighters-98-ultimate-match-worms-2-arm/">XBLA in Brief: King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match, Worms 2: Armageddon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 01 Jul 2009 18:15:00 EST. It's a twofer on XBLA this week, with <a href="http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/06/22/this-week-on-arcade-garou-and-droplitz.aspx">a new puzzle game and an old fighting game</a>. The puzzle game would be <em>Droplitz</em>, which has players twiddling dials and collecting small, "<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/28/drop-everything-and-watch-this-droplitz-video/">dinky little balls of indeterminate stuff</a>." We can't help but be reminded a bit of <em>Pipe Mania</em>. Keep in mind that <em>Droplitz</em> is a single-player game only, with the full game running 800<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />.<br />
<br />
The second game is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garou:_Mark_of_the_Wolves"><em>Garou: Mark of the Wolves</em></a>, also known as <em>Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves</em>, which was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/garou-mark-of-the-wolves">announced</a> for XBLA by SNK late last week. The game is a port of the original arcade title -- also remembered as one of the last good Dreamcast games -- and features online play for two players. It can be yours for 800<img border="0" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" />.<br />

SNK Playmore has <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgame.snkplaymore.co.jp%2Fpress_releases%2Findex_press.php%3Fnum%3D206&amp;sl=ja&amp;tl=en&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8">announced</a> that <a href="http://www.www.joystiq.com/tag/garou"><em>Garou: Mark of the Wolves</em></a> is headed to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbla">Xbox Live Arcade</a> next week on June 24. Those unfamiliar with the fighting game may remember it as <em>Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves</em>, the title given to the North American Dreamcast release. You might not remember that either, as it was released during the console's dying days.<br /><br />Whether or not you've heard of it, you should keep an eye on the XBLA release, as the game was reviewed <a href="http://www.gamerankings.com/dreamcast/475156-fatal-fury-mark-of-the-wolves/index.html">very well</a> in its day. The XBLA version also includes online play, a nice plus. <em>Garou: Mark of the Wolves</em> will be priced at 800<img border="0" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif" alt="" /> ($10).<br />
<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/19/garou-mark-of-the-wolves-marks-xbla-next-week/">Garou: Mark of the Wolves marks XBLA next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 19 Jun 2009 13:00:00 EST. It looks like SNK is already preparing to outfit <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/king-of-fighters-xii"><em>King of Fighters XII</em></a> with DLC. The upcoming fighting game will have additional purchased content available on the <a href="http://www.xbox.com/ja-JP/games/k/kingoffightersXII/?WText.camp">Xbox Live Marketplace</a> (as uncovered by <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/05/14/king-of-fighters-xii-has-dlc-console-specific-online-modes/">Siliconera</a>) and, presumably, on PSN as well. What that content is exactly, we don't know just yet; however, we assume this means more costumes and game modes a la <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/05/free-street-fighter-iv-championship-mode-dlc-costume-pack-pri/"><em>Street Fighter IV</em></a>. Maybe it means more characters ... like all the ones missing from <a href="http://www.4gamer.net/games/089/G008984/20090514035/screenshot.html?num=013">the roster screen</a>.<br /><br />In addition to DLC, <em>KoF XII</em> has console-specific online modes. The PS3 version features a "Clan" mode which is not found on the 360 version (check out the image above); however, the 360 version has a "Ranked Match" option while the PS3 version does not. Hmm ... you don't think SNK would charge for these modes as paid DLC now, would it?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2009/05/14/king-of-fighters-xii-has-dlc-console-specific-online-modes/">Siliconera</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/16/king-of-fighters-xii-getting-dlc-console-specific-modes/">King of Fighters XII getting DLC, console-specific modes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 16 May 2009 01:00:00 EST. You'll need to wield a sturdy fighting stick if you ever plan on becoming a champ in the fighting genre. Everyone knows that; Capcom <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/capcom-more-madcatz-street-fighter-4-controllers-by-april/">knows it</a>, Namco Bandai <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/06/22/soul-calibur-iv-limited-edition-fighting-stick-available-for-pre/">knows it</a>, and SNK Playmore <a href="http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20090512_168365.html">knows it</a>, too, which is why the latter will be releasing two, brand-new controllers alongside <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/king-of-fighters-xii"><em>King of Fighters XII</em></a> in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/king-of-fighters-xii-hits-ps3-360-worldwide-this-july/">July</a>. The first is a <em>King of Fighters XII</em> USB Stick featuring character artwork of series favorites Iori, Athena and others plastered on the topside. The second fighting pad is the Neo Geo Stick 2, a throwback to the classic controller, which will finally be available for PS3 (It's already out for Wii). They retail for &yen;6,279 ($65) and &yen;5,229 ($54), respectively.<br /><br />Now, why are those prices in Japanese currency? Well, unlike the game itself, these sticks haven't been given a worldwide release date. They hit Japanese stores on July 16th and hopefully we'll get them in time for launch date, too.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/13/fight-like-a-king-with-these-snk-fighting-sticks/">Fight like a king with these SNK fighting sticks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 13 May 2009 12:15:00 EST. In addition to the ultra smooth (and likely quite sophisticated) <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/16/king-of-fighters-xii-screens-reveal-new-antialiasing-feature/"><em>King of Fighters XII</em> anti-aliasing graphical update</a>, it appears as though the home version of the game will be coming with two new characters. Elizabeth Blanctorche and a character known only as "Mature" will be joining the ranks of the already 20-character strong roster as a result of the move to console from arcades.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3174125">1UP</a> claims the game's Japanese language website also teases, "the art of K' and Mai Shiranui in the style of <em>KOFXII</em>," though it remains unconfirmed whether or not the console release will see more exclusive characters. The game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/king-of-fighters-xii-hits-ps3-360-worldwide-this-july/">releases this July</a>, and in the meantime, we'll be over here looking through the beautiful gallery full of artwork we already have.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3174125">1UP</a>]<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-march-16/">King of Fighters XII (March 16)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-march-16/#1433168"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/kof1203160903_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-march-16/#1433167"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/kof1203160902_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-march-16/#1433166"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/kof1203160901_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/king-of-fighters-xii-march-16/#1433165"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/kof1203160904_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/10/two-new-characters-for-king-of-fighters-xii-coming-home/">Two new characters for King of Fighters XII coming home</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 10 May 2009 23:30:00 EST. We've always enjoyed SNK Playmore's long-running fighting franchise (the aptly named <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=King%20of%20Fighters">King of Fighters</a></em> series), though we often find ourselves stuck with an inexplicable desire to see the series' adroit brawlers fly effortlessly through the air while shooting bullets out of their hands.<br /><br />... No, you know what? We're not going to lie to you. <em>We've never thought that</em>. Nobody has, ever. Until now, that is -- <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1223631_1124.html?ref=rss">Famitsu recently outed</a> SNK's latest, and arguably most bizarre project ever: An Xbox Live Arcade shoot 'em up based in the <em>KoF</em> universe, tentatively titled <em>King of Fighters Sky Stage.</em> Based on the early screenshots we've seen, we're still trying to decide whether the game is going to be <em>awesome</em> or <em>too awesome</em>. Maybe you haven't heard: People. Flying. Shooting. Bullets. Out. Of. Hands.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://kotaku.com/5220851/snk-making-fighting-shmup-game-bwah">Kotaku</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/21/snk-developing-king-of-fighters-shmup-for-xbla/">SNK developing King of Fighters shmup for XBLA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 21 Apr 2009 16:01:00 EST.
