It must be great to be a celebrity. Take rapper Lil' Wayne for example. In a <a href="http://www.gamertagradio.com/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=11938">GTR</a> video clip, he tells about an Xbox he received from a friend that plays "every game from A-Z, Atari, Nintendo, pong, movies &amp; even porn." Can you imagine? We didn't even know Microsoft <em>made</em> an Xbox like that, and here celebrities are getting them as gifts. ... What's that? ... It's a modded Xbox? Oh come on, now you're just being naive.<br />
<br />
Kidding aside, you can say what you will about our close personal friend <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/soulja-boy">Soulja Boy</a>, but at least he pays for his games before he <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/soulja-boy-tells-em-about-braid/">totally misunderstands them</a> to be about drugs and alcohol.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/09/lil-wayne-apparently-has-a-modded-xbox/">Lil' Wayne apparently has a modded Xbox</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 09 Oct 2009 14:40:00 EST. What could we possibly write to make this post complete. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Soulja-Boy/">Soulja Boy</a> created a montage video of various <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Gears-of-War-2/">Gears of War 2</a></em> multiplayer footage and yeah, the kid has got skill. <u>Easy</u>. Settle down. No one is saying he can beat <em>you</em>. But, we won't hate on his game because there's an entire video of proof that shows he's good. It isn't like the video is a bunch of random snippets only showing his own kills with complete omission of his deaths. Actually, never mind. Seriously though he does have some skill, apart from using the shotgun as a ranged weapon. One question about the video though Soulja (or Mr. Boy?), what is with the slow dance sequence at the end of the video. Left-turn, sir.<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/Stuart+Scofield/soulja-boy-has-made-a-gears-of-war-2-montage-116158.phtml">Stuart M.</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/29/are-you-sitting-down-soulja-boy-made-a-gears-2-montage/">Are you sitting down? Sure, our favorite game journalist, Stephen Totilo, may have promptly lost the last two games <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/12/beefwatch-totilo-calls-out-soulja-boy/">he played</a> against the <em>Braid-</em>loving rap auteur in <em>Gears of War 2</em> and <em>Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix</em>. But for one glorious moment, Soulja Boy's lunch had been eaten, and Totilo's face was covered in crumbs.<br />
<br />
If you've got the notion, you can watch the full battle over <a href="http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/12/18/i-chainsaw-soulja-boy-in-half-but-he-triumphs/">on MTV's site</a>. On a side note, we think we may have turned the corner on Soulja Boy. We think ... we think maybe we're totally into him.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/18/beefwatch-totilo-beats-soulja-boy-at-geometry-wars-2/">Beefwatch: Totilo beats Soulja Boy! ... at Geometry Wars 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 18 Dec 2008 15:45:00 EST. This isn't necessarily gaming news, but if there's an opportunity to talk about our two favorite people on the planet, we're going to take it. First, our favorite video game journalist Stephen Totilo was called out by The Pied Piper of Dumb People, Soulja Boy. Then, defying all logic, Totilo answered the call out with another call out, the urban equivalent of the "double dog dare." You can see the beef 'a brewing in video form after the break.<br /><br />Totilo has picked his game, <em>Geometry Wars 2</em>, and will allow SB to pick his own for a challenge to go down in NYC next week. Our suggestion to Soulja Boy? <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/09/soulja-boy-game-coming-to-xbox-360-in-2009/"><em>Soulja Boy</em></a>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/12/beefwatch-totilo-calls-out-soulja-boy/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Beefwatch: Totilo calls out Soulja Boy</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/12/beefwatch-totilo-calls-out-soulja-boy/">Beefwatch: Totilo calls out Soulja Boy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 12 Dec 2008 08:45:00 EST. There's not much more to say really. Soulja Boy, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/finally-soulja-boy-reviews-braid/">game critic</a> and online gamer extraordinaire (and also rapper), has dropped a bomb on the gaming world: He has a <a href="http://www.complex.com/blogs/2008/12/08/soulja-boy-talks-sneakers-arab-money-video-games/">video game heading to the Xbox 360 in 2009</a>. No details about the game have been revealed. According to Soulja Boy it was inspired by the "challenge" he <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/soulja-boy-calls-out-xbox-live-gamers/">recently posed</a> to Xbox Live gamers.<br /><br />In his own eloquent words: "After I put the Xbox 360 challenge up on the Internet, it was over all these video game sites. And a couple video game companies hit me up on my email because I put the email on there too. And hit me up like, 'Blah, blah, blah, blah.' So I was like, 'Oh snaps!'" Soulja Boy neglected to mention <em>which</em> game companies contacted him. That's unfortunate, because we <em>really</em> need to know who is responsible for this. No word yet whether his game will be for people who smoke or people who drink.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/09/soulja-boy-game-coming-to-xbox-360-in-2009/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/09/soulja-boy-game-coming-to-xbox-360-in-2009/">Soulja Boy game coming to Xbox 360 in 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 09 Dec 2008 13:45:00 EST. When rapper Soulja Boy is done being a <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">one-hit wonder</span> international superstar he's got some big dreams. He wants to go to college, he wants to start his own clothing line, own his own shoe line and, as you can see at the 2:33 mark in the video below the break, design video games. We know we're going to get a glut of commenters decrying his intentions, but we think it's a great, great idea.<br /><br />For one, he says in the video he once dreamed of being a Flash animator (really), though he admits in the same breath that "sounds kinda gay" (also really). For two, did <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/soulja-boy-tells-em-about-braid/">you have the design insight</a> to know that <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Braid/">Braid</a> was actually for people who smoke or people who drink? Oh man! Hey it's your boy, Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, and they got this game, right, for people who smoke, or people who drink -- like if you drink beer and you get drunk, or if you smoke weed and you get high -- and you just, anything, like, if you just be gettin' *bleep'd* up. They got this game, right, I don't know, this *bleep* called <a href="http://gd08.ch/FEIST/"><em>FEIST</em></a> -- hold up! Watch this *bleep*. [Please press play on video player above.]<br /><br />It's about this little guy in a black suit, and he walk around -- they ain't got no point to the game -- you just walk around jumpin' on *bleep*. It look like Mario<em> </em>in a *bleep'd* up dream. It's Mario as a fuzzy ball wit' lil stick arms and legs. And he just walk around jumpin' and *bleep* -- but what's the funny part about it ... <em>it's Mac exclusive!</em><br /><br />[Download the free beta from the link on <a href="http://www.indiegames.com/blog/2008/09/feist_florian_faller_and_adria.html">IndieGames.com</a>.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/soulja-boy-tell-em-bout-feist/">Soulja Boy, tell em 'bout FEIST</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Sep 2008 21:00:00 EST. Okay, we have to come clean: we haven't actually bought <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/braid"><em>Braid</em></a>. Yes, we dumped <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/11/xbox-360-fancast-079-ah-euphemisms/">effusive praise</a> upon its digital being. We even devoted an entire <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/09/x3f-insight-why-should-we-care-about-braid/">feature</a> to convincing people how great it is, but still we did not buy it. Why? Because we were awaiting the learned opinion of one man. Yes, that man is (of course) Soulja Boy. We'd like to <em>attempt</em> to summarize his <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nebKYFxXrLY">opinion</a> of <em>Braid</em> but, frankly, it has a profound eloquence that cannot be captured by mere mortals like us. Suffice it to say that you're just going to have to watch it yourself. Find it after the break (it's NSFW, by the way).<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/finally-soulja-boy-reviews-braid/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Finally! When worlds collide it's often awesome, producing something greater than the sum of two parts. But sometimes it makes something absolutely cringe worthy. Sadly, when rapper Soulja Boy discovered <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Braid/">Braid</a></em> and gave his considerate, well-reasoned and utterly profane critique (which you can watch right after the break, if you're not at work), it was one of the latter situations.<br /><br />Oh, and while you watch, try to decide which is more entertaining: watching Soulja Boy mistake <em>Braid </em>for bong time fodder or reading comments from people who are <em>so angry</em> at him for not "getting it."<br /><br />[Thanks, Kat]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/soulja-boy-tells-em-about-braid/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Soulja Boy tells 'em about Braid</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/17/soulja-boy-tells-em-about-braid/">Soulja Boy tells 'em about Braid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 17 Sep 2008 12:45:00 EST.
