<br />Amazon must need to clear out its GameCube stock of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/twilight-princess">The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</a></em>, as this is the second sale the online retailer has hosted in just two days, not that we're complaining!<br /><br />The last deal lasted only four hours and offered the GameCube release for only $19.99, and, while that sounds much cheaper than the $25.99 Amazon is asking for <em>Twilight Princess</em> now, keep in mind that that $25+ pricing includes free shipping. You can make that kind of change slashing at grass and breaking pots for two minutes!<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.cheapassgamer.com">CAG</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/04/19/gc-twilight-princess-now-24-rupees-cheaper/">GC Twilight Princess, now 24 rupees cheaper</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 19 Apr 2008 16:30:00 EST. Whether it's just <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/using-the-twilight-hack-man-runs-tetris/">some basic <span style="font-style: italic;">Tetris</span></a>, or running something entirely new, the homebrew community has had their hands full as of late. <br /><br />Those who were running the exploit before needed a GameCube memory card adapter. That is not the case anymore, as the hack has been updated to support SD loading. <br /><br />For those who need a visual walkthrough on the process, head on past the break for a video explaining how to do this.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/twilight-hack-now-supports-sd-loading/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>'Twilight Hack' now supports SD loading</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/14/twilight-hack-now-supports-sd-loading/">'Twilight Hack' now supports SD loading</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Mar 2008 12:00:00 EST. Homebrew developers are already starting to take advantage, releasing a bunch of interesting and/or useful unauthorized programs for Nintendo's little white box. Among them:<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://www.gc-linux.org/wiki/Main_Page">Linux for Wii</a> - Coming next: <a href="http://www.uberreview.com/2005/09/netbsd-controlled-toaster.htm">Linux on your toaster</a><br /></li>

    <li><a href="http://www.tehskeen.com/modules.php?name=News&amp;file=showarticle&amp;threadid=6463">SNES emulator</a> - Who needs the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/virtual-console">Virtual Console</a> when you can just steal ROMs of your fave SNES games?<br /></li>
    <li><a href="http://wiihomebrew.blogspot.com/2008/02/wii-homebrew-apps-tetris-wii.html">Wii <em>Tetris</em></a> - So much cooler than <em>Pong</em>. No, you shut up!</li>
</ul>
Still no public announcement from Nintendo in reaction to the exploit, though given their recent <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/22/nintendo-chinese-government-hunts-down-pirates/">aggressive pursuit</a> of game pirates, you can expect a PSP-style <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/01/psp-firmware-3-90-cracked-yes-already/">battle of the firmwares</a> to start any day now.<br />[Thanks to reader Craig for many of these links]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/25/twilight-princess-exploit-leads-to-explosion-of-wii-hacks/">Twilight Princess exploit leads to explosion of Wii hacks</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 25 Feb 2008 15:45:00 EST. Well, <em>Pong</em> isn't the only thing folks are using this to run, as one man shows us his homebrew version of <em>Tetris</em> running on the system. Originally created as a homebrew project for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamecube">GameCube</a> many years ago, this version of <em>Tetris</em> is lacking the bells and whistles most have taken for granted over the last decade or so. If anything is going to restore our health out here in <em>the real world</em>, it's delicious food, not potions within reusable bottles (as sad as it is to say). But, then a <em>huge</em> problem pops up (for us at least) as we stare at this lovely cake that pays homage to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/04/the-abridged-legend-of-zelda-twilight-princess/"><em>The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</em></a>: can you eat something that looks so amazing? We imagine that cutting a cake like this, carving out a piece for ourselves then ingesting it would probably feel something like robbing the dead or stealing toys from orphans.<br /><br />Seriously, we don't know if our stomach could take the guilt of consuming something so beautiful.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/15/who-needs-red-potions-when-you-have-delicious-cake/">Who needs red potions when you have delicious cake?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 15 Feb 2008 22:30:00 EST. Whether you uncompromisingly soldiered on through a <em>Warcraft III </em>campaign, or decided to topple Bowser before turning in for the day, we're all familiar with marathon gaming. However, a <a href="http://www.cameronbanga.com/">small gathering</a> of <em>Zelda</em> enthusiasts are attempting a seemingly impossible gauntlet of non-stop dungeon raiding -- all four 3D <em>Zelda</em> games (<em>Ocarina of Time</em>, <em>Majora's Mask</em>, <em>Wind Waker</em>, and <em>Twilight Princess</em>) in just 48 hours.<br /><br />That's four water temples, three Ganondorf confrontations, and a whole mess of heart containers, stretched over a two day period. With nearly thirty hours to go, the <a href="http://www.cameronbanga.com/">CameronBanga.com</a> team have already bested <em>Ocarina of Time</em>, and are currently trudging through the most tedious of all the <em>Zelda</em> titles, <em>Majora's Mask</em>. We can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday night than watching these goons sink into sweet, Hyrulian madness via their <a href="http://www.cameronbanga.com/">live webstream</a> -- but then again, we're what most camp counselors would call "indoor kids".<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/12/four-zelda-games-in-48-hours/">Four Zelda games in 48 hours</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 12 Jan 2008 11:45:00 EST. While things like LOLcatz and coffee definitely make the list (oh right, and our families and friends, we guess), we wanted to show a little appreciation for the Wii as well. The Nintendo Wii Fanboy staff was thus asked what about the Wii we are most thankful for. The following is what happens when you have a staff with the collective maturity level of 37% (calculated by science).<strong><br /></strong><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/22/what-were-thankful-for-wii-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>What we're thankful for: Wii edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/22/what-were-thankful-for-wii-edition/">What we're thankful for: Wii edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 22 Nov 2007 12:00:00 EST. <br />This compilation of western and Japanese <span style="font-style: italic;">Zelda</span> TV commercials is by no means comprehensive, but it does feature three or four that are new to us. Some are just downright peculiar -- the second <span style="font-style: italic;">Legend of Zelda</span> advert recalls David Lynch's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eraserhead"><span style="font-style: italic;">Eraserhead</span></a> -- and there's clearly been an unsettling amount of rapping involved in the marketing of the series, something we hadn't noticed previously. The advert for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/twilightprincess/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Twilight Princess</span></a> is utterly tame in comparison.<br /><br />No doubt you'll have seen a couple of these about a gazillion times (the <span style="font-style: italic;">Ocarina of Time</span> commercial from the days when Nintendo didn't think twice about calling you a <span style="font-style: italic;">weak little girl</span>, and the fabulously dorky "Your parents help you hook it up!" ad from the late-'80s), but it's still worth a watch for the more obscure stuff, some of which even manages to out-weird Sony's recent <a href="http://playstation.joystiq.com/2007/11/04/how-not-to-advertise-the-ps3/">output</a>. And that's a heck of an achievement.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/05/rapping-puppetry-and-misogyny-zelda-commercials-through-the-a/">Rapping, puppetry, and misogyny: Zelda commercials through the ages</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 05 Nov 2007 13:30:00 EST. It should make for an interesting award session, because while the Wii is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/npd">dominating console sales</a> (along with the DS), many people see games like <span style="font-style: italic;">Gears of War</span> as greater achievements. Despite that, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/02/wii-sports-wins-game-of-the-year-award-in-time-magazine/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Wii Sports</span></a> leads the pack of nominations, having picked up the greatest number of nominations; the pack-in boasts nods in seven categories, including Gameplay and Multiplayer.<br /><br />It's not the only Wii title to pick up recognition, however; <span style="font-style: italic;">The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Trauma Center: Second Opinion</span> are up for awards, along with a few other games. Check out the full list of nominations after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/bafta-noms-battle-of-the-biggies/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BAFTA noms: battle of the biggies</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/27/bafta-noms-battle-of-the-biggies/">BAFTA noms: battle of the biggies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 27 Sep 2007 18:10:00 EST. And, being the incredible Nintendo <em>fanboys</em> we are, we have a special place in our heart for the <em>Zelda</em> franchise. That's why these sweet <em>Zelda</em> charms caught our eye like so. Nintendo confirmed <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/10/wii-warm-up-zapper-pack-in-revealed/">rumors</a> yesterday that the Zapper peripheral will also come bundled with software called <em>Link's Crossbow Training</em>, which is the "perfect demonstration of the way the Wii Zapper could be used in other games." The software will focus on Link within the world of his latest title on the Wii and GameCube, <em>The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</em>, where he must make his way "through a series of tests to perfect his crossbow marksmanship."<br /><br />Considering that <em>Blastris</em> for the Super Score 6 back on the SNES was all kinds of fun, we can't say we're worried this bundled software won't be.<br /><br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/11/confirmed-youll-use-the-zapper-to-help-link-train-up/">Confirmed: You'll use the Zapper to help Link train up</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Sep 2007 00:11:00 EST. <br />
For such a popular console that tries to offer something for everyone, the Wii also manages to be somewhat controversial -- and we're not just talking about <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/26/ny-times-says-r-rated-movies-are-gorier-than-ao-manhunt-2/"><em>Manhunt 2</em></a> here. The motion-sensing controls have been a bone of contention when it comes to nearly every game, even those people seem to enjoy. Some gamers find them awesome, and others ... not so much. We've selected six games which cover a range of game types (and aren't all first-party, either) as a measuring stick of what you think is best when it comes to Wii controls. We encourage you to vote early (and often!), but feel free to talk about other choices in the comments, as well as the reasons behind your picks.<br />
<br />
You might have noticed that <em>Wii Sports</em> isn't on this list (and neither are several other well-received games!). We considered including it, because not everyone agrees that it works quite well as a showcase of the Wii control capabilities, but decided at the last minutes to include only non-bundled games. Feel free to voice your support for <em>Wii Sports</em> in the comments, however!<br />

<br />If you're lucky enough to have a Hastings store nearby, the entertainment retailer is offering to exchange your moth-eaten copies of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/superpapermario"><em>Super Paper Mario</em></a> or <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zelda"><em>The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</em></a> for a waggle-fied edition of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/re4"><em>Resident Evil 4</em></a>. They'll also accept <em>Rainbow Six Vegas</em> (360) and <em>God of War II</em> (PS2), but not without scowling at you first.<br /><br />According to the rest of Hastings's weekly ad, there's a buy-1-get-2nd-for-free sale on body jewelry, so be on the look out for that deal too! Put away the other two <em>RE4</em> games you've already bought for previous platforms, throw on a shirt that shows off your belly-button-ringed midriff, and check past the post break for the full flyer.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/22/trade-in-your-old-ports-for-a-new-port/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Trade in your old ports for a new port</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/22/trade-in-your-old-ports-for-a-new-port/">Trade in your old ports for a new port</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 22 Jun 2007 16:10:00 EST. Ever wanted to read a novelization of the <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/LegendofZelda/">Legend of Zelda</a></em> series? No? Well, we've got one for you, anyways.<br /><br />A blogger known as Grownup Gamer has begun a project where he will be writing extensively about every game in the <em>Legend of Zelda</em> series in chronological order. We can't emphasize the word "extensive" enough -- each entry is extremely detailed, but <a href="http://bloggingzelda.blogspot.com/">Blogging Zelda</a> fortunately is well-written enough to be an interesting read. <br /><br />Grownup Gamer has actually been blogging since the <a href="http://bloggingzelda.blogspot.com/2007/05/introductions.html">end of May</a>, spending just under two weeks to complete the first and second quests in the original NES <em>Zelda</em>. He is currently mowing through <em>Zelda II: The Adventures of Link</em>. <a href="http://blog.mainetechgeeks.com/2007/05/happy_memorial_day.html">Fifteen titles</a> in all have been planned for completion, including the yet-to-be-released <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/PhantomHourglass/">Phantom Hourglass</a>.</em><br /><br /><strong>See Also:<a href="http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/06/08/the-shields-of-zelda/"><br /></a></strong><a href="javascript:void(0);/*1182232559354*/">The Shields of Zelda</a><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives/2007/06/18/the-legend-of-zelda-the-blog-of-blogging/">4cr</a>; <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/03/zelda-ds-lite-mod-demands-slew-of-positive-adjectives/">image source</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/19/blogging-through-every-legend-of-zelda/">Blogging through every Legend of Zelda</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 19 Jun 2007 04:15:00 EST. A new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/26/ninja-gaiden-speed-runs-set-new-records/">speed run</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/twilight-princess-models-ripped-enhanced-put-in-strange-poses/"><em>The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</em></a> has just been posted on Speed Demos Archive. Daniel Hart blazed through the game in 5 hours 39 minutes, about ten times faster than we hobbled our way through on the first try. Daniel says he could shave 5-7 minutes off the final time but is happy with the current achievement. We say he's<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/23/five-minute-mario-a-world-record-yes-and-no/"> bragging</a>, but boy has he earned it. Videos are available for download as well as embedded in Flash (Part 1 is shown above) for easy ooh-ing and aah-ing. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2007/06/04/the-abridged-legend-of-zelda-twilight-princess/">Nintendo Wii Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/04/twilight-princess-speed-run-in-under-6-hours/">Twilight Princess speed run in under 6 hours</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 Jun 2007 13:30:00 EST. We've <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/28/13-minute-ninja-gaiden-speedrun-we-are-all-inadequate/">gawked</a> at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/24/super-mario-bros-in-less-time-than-it-takes-to-warm-up-a-lean-c/">speedruns</a> before, but this one is unique in that it's a speedrun of a Wii game. Daniel Hart recorded himself completing <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=twilight+princess"><em>The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</em></a> in an incredible 5 hours and 39 minutes. That beats our best time by roughly <em>infinity.</em> <br /></div>
<br />We didn't watch the whole thing, because five and a half hours, while short for a <em>Zelda </em>playthrough, is long for a video. Honestly, the speed-goatherding in the first segment is entertainment enough for us. But if you're stuck in <em>Zelda</em>, or need some strategies, this would be a great resource since <em>the dude knows how to play.</em><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.aeropause.com/archives/2007/06/twilight_prince_3.php">Aeropause</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/04/the-abridged-legend-of-zelda-twilight-princess/">The Abridged Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 04 Jun 2007 09:50:00 EST. Take a look at the Japanese box art for <em>The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass</em> (via <a href="http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/05/22/phantom-hourglass-japanese-boxart-ftw/">DS Fanboy</a>). The art style and content is very reminiscent of <em>The Wind Waker</em>, which makes us curious: given the passage of time since the GameCube release and the fulfillment of a more "adult" Link with <em>Twilight Princess</em>, how you do you feel about the young Link look? Think about it, and check out the highlights for today:<br /><br /><strong>Joystiquery<br /></strong><a target="_blank" title="View Joystiq hands-on: PlayStation Home on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/joystiq-hands-on-playstation-home/">Joystiq hands-on: PlayStation Home</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Joystiq interviews BioShock LE cover artist Adam Meyer on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/joystiq-interviews-bioshock-le-cover-artist-adam-meyer/">Joystiq interviews BioShock LE cover artist Adam Meyer</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Readers pick best webcomic: Wii and my shadow on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/readers-pick-best-webcomic-wii-and-my-shadow/">Readers pick best webcomic: Wii and my shadow</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Today's goal-reaching videos: Mario Strikers Charged on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/todays-goal-reaching-videos-mario-strikers-charged/">Today's goal-reaching videos: Mario Strikers Charged</a><br /><br /><strong>News<br /></strong><a target="_blank" title="View Smash Bros. site now up, music detailed on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/smash-bros-site-now-up-music-detailed/">Smash Bros. site now up, music detailed</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Skid Row, Poison, Extreme in 80s Guitar Hero on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/skid-row-poison-extreme-in-80s-guitar-hero/">Skid Row, Poison, Extreme in 80s Guitar Hero</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View New Metroid Prime 3 screenshots on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/new-metroid-prime-3-screenshots/">New Metroid Prime 3 screenshots</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Step right up for Carnival Games: more minigames for the Wii on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/step-right-up-for-carnival-games-more-minigames-for-the-wii/">Step right up for Carnival Games: more minigames for the Wii</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Riddick remake confirmed for PS3, Xbox 360 on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/riddick-remake-confirmed-for-ps3-xbox-360/">Riddick remake confirmed for PS3, Xbox 360</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Sony's High Velocity Bowling started 'literally right before' Nintendo announced Wii Sports' Bowling on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/sonys-high-velocity-bowling-started-literally-right-before-ni/">Sony's High Velocity Bowling started 'literally right before' Nintendo announced Wii Sports' Bowling</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View No DirectX 10 update for Supreme Commander on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/no-directx-10-update-for-supreme-commander/">No DirectX 10 update for Supreme Commander</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Konami expects Metal Gear Solid 4 by March '08 on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/konami-expects-metal-gear-solid-4-by-march-08/">Konami expects Metal Gear Solid 4 by March '08</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Tom Clancy's EndWar to be fully voice-controlled on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/tom-clancys-endwar-to-be-fully-voice-controlled/">Tom Clancy's EndWar to be fully voice-controlled</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Haze will have four-player co-op campaign on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/haze-will-have-four-player-co-op-campaign/">Haze will have four-player co-op campaign</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View Halo 3 beta adds Banshee on Valhalla on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/halo-3-beta-adds-banshee-on-valhalla/">Halo 3 beta adds Banshee on Valhalla</a><br /><a target="_blank" title="View WoW patch 2.1 helps feed the habit on Joystiq" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/22/wow-patch-2-1-helps-feed-the-habit/">WoW patch 2.1 helps feed the habit</a><br /><br /><strong>Rumors &amp; Being a generally mild mannered and lackadaisical bunch, we become worried when an impressive DS Lite mod <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=130108922790">appears on eBay</a> and suddenly implants within us desires that are nothing short of sinister. Crafted by the same hands and mechanical forceps (probably) that produced an equally attractive <em>Legend of Zelda</em> <a href="http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2007/03/15/pretty-much-the-best-wii-case-mod-ever/">Wii makeover</a> just over a month ago, this particular variant of Nintendo's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/19/npd-march-belongs-to-ds-ps2/">portable powerhouse</a> demands a dramatic increase in our current rupee supply.<br /><br />We don't care how many blades of grass we have to mercilessly chop down or how many pots must be senselessly shattered to further our goal. This little device, with its customized charging stand and LED that is "calibrated to not be overbearing <strong>or</strong> too dim" must be ours. <br /><br />Or <em>yours</em>, if you outbid us. True, a portion of your money would go to Penny Arcade's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/childsplay">Child's Play</a> charity, but we'd <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/03/impossible-mission-to-stay-in-wii-shop-channel-forever/">forever</a> hold a grudge. The kind of grudge that will see <em>all your precious </em>(and amusingly buoyant) <em>pigs tossed into the nearest ocean.</em><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ds-lite-zelda-mod/">DS Lite Zelda mod</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ds-lite-zelda-mod/#231973"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/zelda_ds_mod_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ds-lite-zelda-mod/#231971"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/zelda_ds_mod_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ds-lite-zelda-mod/#231975"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/zelda_ds_mod_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ds-lite-zelda-mod/#231978"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/zelda_ds_mod_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/ds-lite-zelda-mod/#231981"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/05/zelda_ds_mod_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Via <a href="http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/05/03/pretty-much-the-best-ds-lite-mod-ever/">DS Fanboy</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/03/zelda-ds-lite-mod-demands-slew-of-positive-adjectives/">Zelda DS Lite mod demands slew of positive adjectives</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 03 May 2007 15:44:00 EST. Hello, I'm not sure if we met. I'm <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/">Joystiq</a> writer <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/justin-mcelroy/">Justin McElroy</a>, and that's my calf. A couple of years ago my two brothers and dad and I started thinking about getting a shared tattoo after my mom passed away. Since we had just been through some bad stuff, it seemed like a good idea at the time. Grief's funny like that. We were all gamers, there were three brothers, so the Triforce seemed a natural fit. We made the decision to do it, then promptly didn't for two years, because I was a wimp.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/22/the-zelda-tattoos-or-an-ink-to-the-past/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Zelda tattoos, or, An Ink to the Past</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/22/the-zelda-tattoos-or-an-ink-to-the-past/">The Zelda tattoos, or, An Ink to the Past</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 22 Apr 2007 10:30:00 EST. Seriously, why can't this <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/16/gamestop-wants-your-twilight-princess-we-hate-them-that-much-mo/">company</a> get their act straight?<br /><br />And we'll play devil's advocate for a second and say that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/twilightprincess"><em>Twilight Princess</em></a> has been out on shelves for awhile, giving those of us who have played it or are currently playing it more than enough time to complete the game. However, due to continued shortages of the console, perhaps everyone who had planned on giving the game a go hasn't had the chance? That's what we're thinking and this latest news of the retail chain just strengthens our resolve to <em>never</em> shop there.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/09/gamestop-spoils-twilight-princess-ending-in-stores/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/09/gamestop-wants-to-spoil-the-game-for-you/">GameStop wants to punch you in the face</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 09 Apr 2007 12:25:00 EST. Apparently, <a href="http://uk.wii.com/movies/wii_tv_34/">this ad</a> was a bit too "violent, offensive, and disturbing" for seventeen (yes, <em>seventeen</em>) television viewers in Britain, and they made their displeasure known. After a review by Britain's Advertising Standards Authority, however, the ads were deemed okay to go. "We also considered that viewers were unlikely to link the ad to recent events in Iraq. We concluded that the ad was unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence," the Authority said. Translation? Damn, y'all are <em>sensitive</em>.<br /><br />Obviously, we've now won the console war. Sony and Microsoft can just go home. An <a href="http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/adjudications/Public/TF_ADJ_42378.htm">adjudication statement</a> from Britain's Advertising Standards Authority outlines seventeen distinct complaints over the animated violence in an <a href="http://uk.wii.com/movies/wii_tv_34/">ad for <em>Twilight Princess</em> and <em>Red Steel</em></a>. One complainant even thought the ad was "reminiscent of recent videos released by hostage-takers in Iraq." Yikes!<br /><br />Fear not, freedom-of-speech loving Brits; the Authority reviewed the content and determined that "the ad was unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence. On the independent side of things, <em>Bit Blot's</em> Aquaria won the Seumas McNally Grand Prize from the Independent Games Festival.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Okami</span> picked up a win in one of the four categories it was nominated in (take that, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/28/capcom-snubbed-by-aias-awards/">AIAS</a>). Unfortunately, <span style="font-style: italic;">Loco Roco</span> did not pick up any awards despite two nominations (character design and audio). His words, however, were not as one expects when someone is talking about<em> </em>Link's latest adventure; words strung together in such phrases as "it was phenominal" and "my life has been profoundly changed" were not used. Instead, Kamiya could only muster an apathetic response when asked how he felt about the game.<br /><br />Kamiya said "To be frank, I was disappointed when I saw [<em>Twilight Princess</em>'] visuals. I'm a <em>Zelda</em> freak -- it's no overstatement to say that I created <em>Okami</em> because of <em>Zelda</em>. But is Link's most recent adventure also <em>beautiful</em>? <em>Okami</em>'s Director, Hideki Kamiya, was in Tokyo last week to pick up an Entertainment Award (for his work on <em>Okami</em>, natch) at the 10th Media Arts Festival, which is an event held annually by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. He knows the ins and outs, and (we imagine) has a large love for the medium. We'll tell you what he <a href="http://corybarlog.blogspot.com/2007/02/demo-time.html">doesn't</a> love though: his newly-acquired Wii. Upon getting the gift and opening it, Cory contributes "It was fun...but the wow factor wore off fairly quick."<br /><br />He goes on to talk a bit about the game he wanted to play most (how that wasn't <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/zelda"><em>Twilight Princess</em></a>, we'll never know), saying "The one game I wanted to play, Trauma Center, was definitely a bit of a let down. The wiimote was woefully inaccurate and sapped the fun of the game. The Wii sports golf and bowling was cool...the boxing is freaking terrible though. In the end I hope to see some cool games come out of it, though it has me worried that the whole 'what new thing can you do with the controller' fad will wear off after awhile and I will have left is a much slimmer wireless gamecube." We can't say we share his opinions, but what about you guys? Do you think the system is headed where he sees it going?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/23/god-of-war-dev-thinks-wii-gets-boring-quickly/">God of War dev thinks Wii gets boring quickly</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 23 Feb 2007 14:35:00 EST. Zelda Dimension posted this picture of a painting found on a wall in <em>Zelda: Twilight Princess</em>, and it looks an <em>awful lot</em> like <a href="http://worldroots.com/brigitte/gifs/thomasjeff.jpg">Thomas Jefferson</a> ... or maybe <a href="http://artfiles.art.com/images/-/Gilbert-Stuart/George-Washington-Print-C10032257.jpeg">George Washington</a>? Attendees of this year's <a href="http://www.videogameslive.com/index.php?s=home">Video Games Live</a> concert will be pleased to learn that the man himself will be making an appearance and performing "one of his favorite melodies" on stage. Can't say we've heard that one -- could someone hum a few bars?<br /><br />The event, which brings GDC to a symphonic end, is being held at Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium, San Francisco on March 9 at 8PM. Other highlights in this year's show include Martin Leung with a new piano arrangement, an acoustic medley by original LucasArts composers (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/13/happy-monkey-island-music-day/"><em>Monkey Island</em></a>!), a Chris Kline <em>Contra</em> presentation and a performance by voice-over artist, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0048389/">Dee Baker</a>. <br /><br />Get your tickets <a href="http://www.livenation.com/event/getEvent/eventId/250831/">here</a>, if you please.<br /><br />[Via Press Release]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/20/nintendos-koji-kondo-joins-video-games-live-lineup/">Nintendo's Koji Kondo joins Video Games Live lineup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 20 Feb 2007 15:00:00 EST. Oh, what are we to do? Wait, we could just use the included instructions and make one ourselves, but of course that would mean we'd need:<br />
<ul>
    <li>to be unchained</li>

Have you recently been disturbed by Aeris' dinnertime calls? GameStop's automated insider dialed up Opposable Thumbs to drop a hot tip: <em>Twilight Princess</em> now has a $35 trade-in value -- "if you're finished with it, why don't you bring it to the store and trade it in?"<br /><br />Apparently GameStop, which controls most of the US's used-games market, is squirreling away as many of <a target="_blank" href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/09/wii-zelda-reaches-one-million-in-us-sales/">those one million <em>Zelda</em> copies in circulation</a> as it can, just in time for ... spring? GameStop's spam-calls might indicate that the retailer is not reaching its double-sale quota. GameStop is probably having trouble buying back copies of <em>Twilight Princess</em> (so it can sell them again for a solid profit); likely because consumers are holding on to the game. And so the calls go out.<br /><br />Inside the store is one thing -- <em>but pestering your loyal customers on their phones?</em> That's just squirrelly business practice.<br /><br />[Thanks, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.netjak.com/">32_Footsteps</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/16/gamestop-reaching-out-for-your-twilight-princess/">GameStop reaching out for your Twilight Princess</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 16 Feb 2007 14:15:00 EST. There's just no way around it. Oh, you want to argue? Well, did you transcribe the entire script for <em>The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</em> and reveal it for the world? No? Guess that's settled, then. Get back to us when you undertake your own labor of love.<br /><br />The link takes you directly to the <em>Twilight Princess</em> page, but you'll have to scroll for the script. Check for it under "In-Depth FAQs." We're not sure what questions are being answered here, but it's certainly in depth. Though after reading through some of it, we're inclined to think that we're maybe talking about the depth of the <em>thesaurus</em> here ....<br /><br /><em>In his courage Link finds the strength to topple Snowpeak, even as the thunderous wind threatens to tear him from the cliff and throw him down the mountain path and the packed snow clutches at his fur and solders his skin like a hot iron</em> ....<br /><br />Take a breath, man. Love of Link is no excuse for asphyxiation.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://joystiq.com">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/13/twilight-princess-script-ready-for-your-perusal/">Twilight Princess script ready for your perusal</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 13 Feb 2007 13:45:00 EST. The point is there are literally hundreds of thousands of Wii owners who have yet to pick up a copy of <em>The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess</em>. What's wrong with these people?!<br /><br />We only hope that these so-called "gamers" either (A) went purist, and copped the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/20/metareview-zelda-twilight-princess-gamecube/" target="_blank">GameCube version</a> or (B) spent every last penny in their piggy banks acquiring the hardware. But, that's the thing, the game <em>is</em> epic. Huge, grand in scale, we find ourselves just finishing up Snowpeak at the moment.
