A Weezer DLC pack has been released for the iPhone version of Guitar Hero to mark the release of the band's new album, Hurley. The collection includes the new track "Memories," as well as "Buddy Holly" and "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To" from the Weezer back catalog. You can pick up the set for $1.99.

... What's that? You're saying we posted this news just so we'd have a threadbare excuse to embed the new Weezer-centric Auto-Tune The News after the break? Why, we're positively scandalized by your assertion.
Continue reading Guitar Hero iPhone gets Weezer pack

Guitar Hero iPhone gets Weezer pack originally appeared on Joystiq on Thu, 16 Sep 2010 05:30:00 EST. Beverly Hills ... that's where I want to be (gimme, gimme), living in -- wait, not really. Next week's holiday Rock Band Weekly update has some catchiness, but it's short on cheer. There's a new track pack from Weezer, featuring two songs from the band's latest album, Raditude. There's also songs from Limp Bizkit, The Offspring and Yellowcard.

One last reminder: Rock Band Unplugged DLC is on hiatus until further notice. Check out pricing and track details for the console releases after the break.
Continue reading Rock Band Weekly: Weezer, Yellowcard, Offspring, Limp Bizkit

Rock Band Weekly: Weezer, Yellowcard, Offspring, Limp Bizkit originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 18 Dec 2009 11:30:00 EST. Tomorrow, November 1, beginning at 11AM (EDT) at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Plaza, players will have a chance to play both the Nintendo Wii and DS versions of the game before lining up for an exclusive autograph session with the singer from 3PM to 4PM.

Need more incentive to join the party? The first fifty players in line will walk away with a pre-release copy of the game to call their own and other random giveaways. Finally, you yourself can interrupt your sister's Taylor Swift karaoke sessions in homage to Kanye West's VMA performance. We call that, "emergent gameplay."
Last week's announcement of The Pixies' Doolittle was a bit premature, but the full album is definitely coming next week. Additionally, three Weezer tracks from the new Red Album (none of which are titled Pork and Beans) are also coming out next week. All songs are master tracks for pristine rocking ability.

Fun Fact: Weezer's Rivers Cuomo cites Pixies as a major influence. They recorded a cover of the song Velouria for the tribute album Where is My Mind?

Weezer Pack (440 MS points / $5.49) -- All songs are also sold individually (160 MS Points / $2)

The official Gran Turismo 5 Prologue soundtrack features a nice blend of indie dance rock, electronica, classic rock and brand new remixes from artists, such as Weezer, Mars Volta and DJ Shadow, and more. A brand new exclusive remix of Weezer's "Automatic" headlines the game's diverse soundtrack.

"The Gran Turismo 5 Prologue soundtrack gives fans the perfect audio accompaniment to high-octane racing from Daytona to Eiger Nordwand," said Jeff Reese, director, software marketing, SCEA in a recent press release. "The edgy variety of music complements the pure adrenaline rush fans experience as they eclipse 200 miles-per-hour in the most authentic driving simulator around."

See the complete soundtrack, after the cut.

Continue reading Weezer headlines Gran Turismo 5 Prologue soundtrack

Weezer headlines Gran Turismo 5 Prologue soundtrack originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 25 Mar 2008 10:00:00 EST. We were going to start this post off with something about how half-Japanese girls do it to us every time, but considering many people never listened to Weezer's sophomore album Pinkerton, or the song El Scorcho, we were a little afraid of being called racists ('cause that's always fun). And yes, Rock Band Weekly is normally a Monday post, but because of the President's Day holiday, where we give thanks and praise to The Master, the DLC announcement came from Harmonix a bit early.

Individual Songs

Videos for this week's Rock Band DLC can be found after the break. And make sure to check out what STP's Scott Weiland looked like before heroin. Just remember, these songs will be available next Tuesday for the Xbox 360 and Thursday for the PS3.
Continue reading Rock Band Weekly: Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer and Garbage

Rock Band Weekly: Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer and Garbage originally appeared on Joystiq on Fri, 15 Feb 2008 21:15:00 EST. Or: Radiohead and let the Pretenders know they're none the Weezer.

Clearly, it's a worthless struggle to bring the bands providing this week's downloadable Rock Band content together in one place. Not even Harmonix dared to assemble a catch-all track pack, only offering the three new tunes individually on the Xbox Live Marketplace and -- beginning Thursday -- the PlayStation Network.

Individual songs
