Worms Revolution Collection aims for Xbox 360 in UK this May

A hygienic Worms bundle will soon be available at UK retail. The Worms Revolution Collection, which includes Worms Revolution and Worms 2 Armageddon will be available May 3 for £24.99.

Both Revolution and Armageddon are the 2D gamplay style of classic Worms, with the former incorporating 3D graphics. The bundle also includes all three downloadable content packs (Mars, Funfair and Medieval Tales) released for Revolution. We've reached out to developer Team 17 for details on North American and general European release.

Worms Revolution on sale, playable free this weekend on Steam

Worms Revolution, the latest installment in the 2D strategy shooter, is free to play this weekend on Steam. The game is gratis until Sunday at 1PM Pacific.

Additionally, the game's price is marked down by 50 percent to $7.49 this weekend, and cheaper when purchased in a four-pack for friends. That sale lasts until Monday, April 22.

Revolution differentiated itself from the other Worms in the franchise with "dynamic water, physics objects and worm classes" amidst the usual invertebrate warfare.

Worms Revolution DLC gets its ass to Mars today

Worms Revolution's "Mars Pack" DLC is, of course, themed around that barren rock with the robot on it. Starting today, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 players can download it for 400 MS Points (or $5) and gain access to five new campaign missions, four additional weapons and appropriately themed customization options such as space helmets and a new Mars backdrop for local and online play.

Mars follows the same content structure as the previous Funfair DLC pack. Feel free to wriggle your way into our gallery below for some screens, some of which showcase the new weapons.

Worms: Revolution unearths 'Funfair Pack' DLC October 24

Team 17 is adding to its macabre worm murder simulator Worms: Revolution with some new DLC on October 24. The 'Funfair Pack' adds five new puzzle missions, a new backdrop theme for matches and customization options for your worms. The content also includes four new weapons, three of which should be instantly recognizable to veterans of the franchise: Armageddon, Skunk, Napalm Strike alongside a new weapon dubbed Knock-Out.

The Funfair Pack for Worms: Revolution will debut on Steam, PSN and Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, October 24 for 400 MS Points ($5). Worms: Revolution is an entirely new entry in the series, one our review says doesn't really mix things up too much - but never really needed to.

Worms Revolution review: Wriggling in circles

It says it right there in the title: Worms Revolution. A revolution, a radical change, a momentous shift. The game that will, as the marketing blurb puts it, bring classic Worms gameplay "squarely into the 21st century." Let's just settle this right now: Worms Revolution does not radically alter or change the traditional Worms formula in any fundamental way.

In truth, though, does anyone really want it to?

PSN Tuesday: Dishonored, Sherlock Holmes, Retro City Rampage, tons more

Today's PS Store dump includes a barrage of full games as part of Sony's Day 1 Digital promotion and its ongoing indie focus. For full games, we have Dishonored, Birds of Steel, Devil May Cry HD Collection and The Testament of Sherlock Holmes.

PSN gets Retro City Rampage, The Walking Dead Episode Four: Around Every Corner, Derrick the Deathfin, Machinarium, Worms Revolution and more. Retro City Rampage is also hitting Vita, alongside Dr. Who: The Eternity Clock, Spy Hunter and Sunflowers.

Vita is getting three new PSOne Classics, Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4, Destrega and Saiyuki: Journey West. There's also a free demo for this week's big release (that isn't Dishonored), XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and the Mechromancer DLC for Borderlands 2. Check out the complete lineup here.

Worms Revolution gets classy this October

Worms Revolution, the first built-from-the-ground-up Worms title in a very long time, is heading to PlayStation Network this October. Developer Team 17 revealed the news on the EU PlayStation Blog, noting that Worms Revolution will launch on October 10 for £9.99/€12.99. For those who haven't been following the game, Worms Revolution is built with a brand new engine and adds dynamic water and different worm classes to the traditional Worms formula.

Unsurprisingly, the post doesn't mention the release date for the PC or Xbox Live Arcade version - or the North American PSN release date, for that matter - though they will presumably arrive on or near the same date. We've reached out to Team 17 to see if we can suss out release dates on all platforms.

Worms Revolution developer diary gets everything wet

Aside from the history lesson on the Worms series given by Worms Revolution lead designer Kevin Carthew, the above developer diary gives us a few brief snippets of water-based warfare. The water gun lets you push worms down hills and potentially off cliffs, though it looks like submersion isn't the insta-death it's been in the past.

Worms creator Davidson rejoins Team17 after 14-year absence

Original Worms creator Andy Davidson has returned to Team17, just in time for the development of Worms Revolution. Davidson originally designed Worms in 1993 as an Artillery-style game featuring Lemmings sprites, then added original worm sprites in an effort to release it commercially. He left the game industry fourteen years ago, according to Team17; we're guessing to pursue other interests like fishing and gardening.

And now he's back at the company, where he will "offer the Worms Revolution developers his support." So he's not heading up Worms development just yet. In fact, the announcement notes that he's working on a "variety of new game ideas."

Team 17's Worms Revolution coming to PC and consoles, built with new engine

Developer Team 17 has announced Worms Revolution, a new title in the Worms series ... wait, come back! It really is new. Worms Revolution has been "developed from the ground up" using a brand new engine. Team 17 promises "exciting new features and challenges" as well as returning favorites. The press release specifically mentions the Holy Hand Grenade and Super Sheep, and keen-eyed observers will spot the Concrete Donkey and Airstrike weapons in the announcement trailer as well.

Team 17 is keeping quiet on the new features, though there is some more info to be gleaned from the trailer. There appears to be a new water bomb (probably the water balloon seen in the logo). There are also some rather large-looking worms in the video. Could these worms be heavier, perhaps more difficult for ~~cheap bastards~~ crafty tacticians to knock into the drink with the baseball bat?

Worms Revolution is slated for a third quarter release this year on PC and "consoles." If history is anything to go by, a PSN and XBLA release seems likely at the very least.
