Kojima on Uwe Boll: "It's impossible"

The Kojima Productions Report, the English companion to Hideo Kojima's audioblog HIDECHAN, released its second installment today, and it's already bearing fruit! Host Ryan Payton delivers a message from Kojima-san dispelling recent "nasty rumors" that Uwe Boll is being considered to direct an upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie. Says Kojima:

"Absolutely not! I don't know why Uwe Boll is even talking about this kind of thing. We've never talked to him. It's impossible that we'd ever do a movie with him."

Ouch! Kojima sounds pretty confident that Konami isn't sidestepping his authorial control anytime soon, even if Boll did receive a copy of the script. Oh, and Uwe, congratulations on that recent Razzie nomination; we know you have what it takes to bring home the Golden Raspberry!

I am overjoyed to hear the news that Uwe Boll will not be directing the MGS Movie. Metal Gear Solid was and always will be my favorite video game, without a doubt! I love you Hideo, you fuckin' man you!

Metal Gear Solid (PS1) is my favourite game and i would hate to see me ending up hating the movie just for Uwe Boll's Quest to quite literally ass rape video games intoi movies! KOJIMA, YOU SHOULD DIRECT MGS THE MOVIE!!! THERE IS NO-ONE BETTER FOR IT, YOU ARE THE BEST!!! ZONE OF THE ENDERS AND METAL GEAR ARE MY FAVOURTIE GAMES!!! i think a MGS movie would be sweet. definitely not with boll, but still. it would be a great movie. hard to find an actor that would make the perfect solid snake though o_O

The living breathing walking talking insult to the art of movie making named Uwe Boll are it seem, incapable of taking hints from the world in general. Maybe those lovely words from Kojima will serve as a wakeup call.

That opening line is just gold. "Absolutely not!" Not just a simple "No", or "We aren't considering it". That had to have been the best way to reject the idea.

It's baring fruit, is it? Really? It's stripping the clothing off of fruit? That's a little disturbing, don't you think? Not that it really bothers me... I mean, I'm all for the naked fruit...

Anyhow, it's good to see Kojima not only refuse Boll, but refuse him with authority. I also love the word "impossible." It's so definitive.

I'd love to know what was the biggest factor - the sheer awfulness of his movies? The pitiful box office take? The incredible incompetence he has for distribution? His nasty attitude? How much the few who have seen his movies hate them? I mean, there's so many reasons to choose from.

so Uwe Boll isn't just a bad director but a liar to.

Given how convoluted MGS typically is, Uwe couldn't any harm with it.

Uwe might have actually tried to screw things up by trying to explain everything. =P

Considering MGS is practically a movie series as a game it would seem like a waste of time to make an actual movie for it

Considering MGS is already a movie series in game form it seems like a waste of money and time to make an actual movie though the idea of the director trying to make sense of MGS2's ending would be very funny

This is a shame. Uwe Boll would've made a great MGS movie, and I for one was curious to see just what he'd do with it. I mean, he's taken Alone in the Dark and made it completely about not being alone in any sort of darkness.

Hehe, I can't even begin to tell you how happy hearing that made me feel. I'm so sick of Uwe and I just wish that he'd stop making video game movies. I swear, it really feels like this man's out to destroy any kind of cred that a video game based movie could have the potential to be really good. Seriously, how does this man keep getting work outside of a janitoral job at some backwater highscool?!
