Fair enough Designerbradr. That clears things up.

Though I still disagree regarding the large press conferences. I think Nintendo knew it would be confusing people with the title. For me at least, ANY big news conference, whether it be in Europe, Japan or South Africa, is worth paying attention to. Nintendo is apparently trying to unify all gamers with their system ('Wii' being spelled and pronounced the same worldwide, and meaning 'we'), yet they still split up games conferences like this? They know darn well that whatever they do nowadays, in any market, will be focussed on by Nintendo fans everywhere else.

Again, I see what you're saying and it does make sense, but I'll still call Nintendo on being misleading here. I'm not trying to be stubborn. It's just the way I see things.

Cheers.

[[18. and people complain that playstation is over run with sequels and crappy updates.
ooh lets make mario evil and flip the M to make it wario! woo now we can make ANOTHER 100 mario games but they are different see, because its Wario not mario. BORING.]]

Hahahaha...
Ya know if something like WarioWare Inc. came out of the deal I just can't hate on that.

I liked his post though. That is hilarious that observation 'cause it has some ring of truth to it.
Only Nintendo could get away with that!

NONE OF THE ABOVE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

BOYCOTT NINTENDO ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Do you remember in that old movie Brewster's Millions when Richard Prior wasted loads of cash just to discredit two main candidates running for office? Well I don't have that much money but the internet is a powerfull thing! Nintendo has gone too far and must be ignored. I am the biggest Nintendo fan alive but they have just lost all of my business FOREVER! The interest in the Wii needs to be handled and information dished out. I was even planning on spending $4,600.00 on a brand new Sony Bravia just for the dual release of a new Nintendo console AND a new Zelda on the same day.

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=KDL46XBR3&Dept=tvvideo&CategoryName=tv_flatpanel_46to52

It was like two major planets aligning that only happens every 100,000 years, an event to celebrate. But, alas, my patience has been stretched WAY too thin like so many other fans. So from this moment on I will boycott Nintendo and urge others to do the same. So pass the word on! and together we can teach Nintendo a lesson: Keep The Interested Public Informed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BOYCOTT NINTENDO ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

yeah man, don't buy a Wii, i don't think you'd like it anyway. It only does 480p and you are obviously buying a great tv, so use the tv to its fullest extent and pick up a ps3/x360 combo...it'll only cost you your first born child

Daniel,

Glad I could clear things up. I can respect your difference in opinion, and just wanted to make sure some people understood the context of this press conference.

Dude, J Green, get over yourself...

They did make some big announcements if you had the brains to see and hear it.

The hugest announcement was about how big the DS is getting in Europe and Germany with how succesfull they are at getting the nongamers. Also the attraction of girls to Nintendo, girl gamers are one of the largest untapped gaming markets so Nintendo should be congratlated for grabbing them in droves. The release of the Pink DS lite in Germany should be huge news. It's another route to import them to the US if they are not released in the US it's also a move to counter Sony who is releasing a pink psp and pink ps2. The release of the English Training games should grab a lot more nongamers.

So yeah they were fullfilling their promises about getting more gamers and expanding the market. They were showing how wii could do the same. Europe media doesn't really cover E3 nor the TGS. How many American media companies cover TGS or LGC? Not a single damn one. The Nintendo announcements are going to be repeated by hundreds of European newspapers, magazines etc. The gaming press is a very small one that only the hardcore gamers go to. The people that Nintendo is trying to reach read the common newspapers and magazines.

The second major announcement was two online games from Nintendo showing that Nintendo is serious about online gaming. This should make a lot of people ask the third parties why they are not adding online to their Nintendo Wii games. Midway I am looking at you.

Man, Nintendo doesnt reveal exciting new information at a press conference and all hell breaks loose. I'd hate to imagine what happened if they revealed bad news.

Suddenly all the fickle little fat, sweaty, oily, drama queen fanboys come out of their dark little rooms to bitch about how they didnt learn what they wanted to and say because of this, theyre buying a PS3 rather than the 3 Wiis they had saved up for. And then all the other console fanboys come out and use this a reason to make fun of Nintendo? Well what news did Sony or Microsoft unveil?

These people are ridiculous, what are you guys, 12? It could have been worse. Nintendo could have delayed the wii to 07, or break their promise and announced a price of 300$ for the wii. Be happy with what you have. You guys seem like the type who would cry because a storm knocked out power to your house, meanwhile your neighbor's house got demolished by the storm.

My only complaint: I stayed up pretty late just in case something interesting was revealed about the Virtual Console. I knew Nintendo was going to throw Europe a bone, I just didn't expect it to be in the form of two new games. I absolutely LOVE the way the new Strikers game looks. Good news for me. I'm just bummed that I lost two hours of sleep.

Mario is just a model they use in games. Is mario a soccer player? No. He's a plumber. Nintendo decides they want to make a kick ass soccer game, so they might as well use the mario art because it will be familiar. The game is 100% different from the real mario games, which there are drastically fewer of. BMW3P, you're that the sony fanboy thats always posting right? Want to talk about a series as old as mario that hasn't changed? Metal Gear. I remember playing that on the NES. Same shit in 2D. Hell, he first came out on the MSX in 1987, only two years after mario came out. (Donkey kong doesn't count because its more of a back reference, he was "jump man")I'm not saying metal gear sucks, but your logic is flawed. Just because there have been many games starring a character or he is an old character doesn't make it bad, of course it can but it obviously hasn't with mario or they'd stop.

Seriously, people need to relax and get over themselves. Thinking that Nintendo would reveal launch information at LGC is your own damn fault and yours alone. Don't be all pissy at Nintendo -- they more than proved their promise to the European market. Pink DS Lite, amazing stats regarding the success of the DS, two new (although a bit expected) titles/sequels for the Wii WITH online play, and English Training. Obviously, LGC wasn't going to have the impact that E3 did or TGS usually does.

On September 14th, Reggie Fils-Aime HIMSELF will be hosting the biggest, HUGEST Nintendo conference /event which will be SIX hour long! This will be it folks. The one everyone has been waiting for. The invitations have been sent to the media...

So we know that the Wii will get excellen coverage from the media following September 14th. This is excellent news!! Apparently, there is a lot to be revealed if Nintendo's event is 6 hours long. Of course, some of that time might be only to showcase games and gameplay time for the public, but still, 6 hours is a lot of time for just one company.

Patient, loyal Nintendo fans, nongamers, and the world in general......September 14th.

It's make or break time.

Just remember that all this hype is caused by YOU (referring to fanboys), not Nintendo. Nintendo never said they were going to announce launch details here, and you people assumed that just because they were not going to TGS nor make another Spaceworld, that they have to announce it here.

...Whoakay. Settle down, people. It's not like the thing isn't going to come out in time for Christmas, geez. We all know it's going to be out in the next couple/few months. We all know we're going to be told in, if not before, September. That's a month away, possibly even LESS. Keep your pants on, those of you who wear them.
But on to my main point - whoever back at the beginning said that Wario was boring because they just took Mario and flipped the M into a W, you are sadly and pathetically wrong. Not only do the characters operate on two completely different motifs, the origin of Wario is Japanese. The Japanese word for "bad" is "warui". The Japanese, as you may have noticed, like to shorten things into simple syllabic forms, rather like our miliary, so that for example "Dance Dance Revolution" becomes "danrebu" and "Morning Musume" becomes "momusu", et cetera. "warui mario" thus shortens to the catchy and simple "Wario", conveniently and not unbeknownst to them, matching the name pattern as it goes. Voila. Sometimes I wonder if people forget Nintendo's origins are Japanese. =/

Okay, I'm very confused. Who thought Nintendo would reveal new information at a conference entitled "Wii *prove* our promise"? Do we have no understanding of the word prove?

They proved their promise with the announcements they made at the beginning of the conference, about how they have changed and expanded gaming. You cannot *prove* anything with information about upcoming products. New games certainly don't prove anything, as they don't exist yet. To establish a proof, you must have an existing product from which to draw information. They have proved their promise with the DS, with a broader market, with untapped demographics, and with their dedication to online play. They then proceed to use that proof to make projections for the Wii. Revealing upcoming games is something they're pretty much required to do at any major conference, but anyone who was expecting actual new information didn't read the title of the conference very well.

Why don't you realise that E3 is for the US and this conference was for the E-U-R-O-P-E-A-N press. You think just because something is annonunced in the States in a massive conference and videoclips of it circle in the WWW is going to give the reporters in Europe any information whatsoever of the console??!?!?

Nintendo made a wise choise setting up this event in Europe. It's like they said "hey, we know we told the US about this, but this time we don't forget Europe, we love Europe". Nintendo is showing some love! I'm a European and I am disgusted and despising - not towards the big N but towards your ignorant comments.
