This is how you know when you have hit fanboism in your post.

"He started a successful and hilarious Quake community podcast when he was 14, and generally made a name for himself in gamer culture far before he was on TechTV/G4 see." - Babylonian

I don't mean to call you out, or flame you, but if you got to post a link and tell people his show was successful and hilarious it probably wasn't. Yeah some gamers probably watched it, some gamers probably watched crap dry on a side walk doesn't mean it is a successful show. I am just saying becareful when you take your personal view, and say it as fact. I can think of alot of horrible syndicated videogames shows that got a short lived gamer, spot light I wouldn't call them successes though. I can vaguely remember this one show that came on TBS and had a fat kid and a skinny kid reviwing games with horrible skits. I remember the show being utter crap but watching it because it resembled in some way shape or form a videogame related show. Does that make them a success, no it just means as gamers we are starved for media that cators to our likes that is not bashing it.

As for the Kevin P hate, all I can say is he comes off as an arrogant jerk sometimes, who is there for nothing more then his emo, scene kid look. My favorite Kevin P moment is when Reggie Fils Aime took him to town when he tried to ask him why nintendo makes kiddie games rehash games. Reggie slowly looked at him and said "Point them out" responding that he thought Nintendo made original enjoyable games, and if he could point out a game that was just kiddie and not fun for gamers he would conceed his point. Kevin then tried to mention, mario baseball and mario bros, and marior tennis in which Reggie responded back "You ever play these games? They aren't the same in anyway but for the characters". Kevin shoved his tail between his legs and said nothing, soon after back with his little ring of jerk offs the hosts of xplay and some other guy I can't remember, he started yelling "NINTENDO CROSS THE LINE BY PUTTING MARIOR IN A DANCE DANCE GAME SELL OUTS! SELL OUTS!" Oh how brave he was, lowered his eyes toward Fils Aim when you have him right their but around your friends you're HARDCORE! That is my reason for not liking him, I don't know anybody elses personally.

He decided to comment on a company and its games with out playing them, and when pwned beyond belief, he waited to bash the company behind its back. In which even his colleagues didn't agree with him on his stance, it was just damned sad. I mean I didn't see him over by the square both, asking why they keep making FF games, or taking on any other mainstream software company what so ever. So either he doesn't play many games, and can't see alot of companies have repetitive patterns, or he does play these games and was to coward to go after somebody popular. In either aspect, you can see why I personally think he is a cock boy.

Atleast 2 people still like G4 - that being my wife and I. Kevin and Olivia on AOTS are very entertaining. Same with Morgan and the ugly guy on Xplay. We cant get enough of either show.

Admittedly, the onslaught of non-gaming or tech related programming is a bit disturbing. Not sure why they picked up Arrested development and Star Trek is beyond lame. I liken the recent changes to when MTV stopped playing music. Of course, that is when MTV became huge, too.

God I hate skinny people like Kevin. You know how hard I have to work to stay around 180? And he can eat whatever the hell he wants, and never exercise. Jessie looks nice though, has a nice figure and you can tell it's not from the benefit of unnatural metabolism, it's from a healthy lifestyle.

DAMN YOU MANBOY BEANPOLES! WHY MUST YOU BE SO MUCH SKINNIER THAN I AM! I'M ON A DAMN 2000 CALORIE DIET! I BIKE 15 MILES A DAY! DAMN YOU TO HELL!

Gaming television is completely unnecessary. Especially with that little internet thing. And this picture reinforces what most of us already knew - both of these people are irritating TV personalities masquerading as "gaming experts".

My wife and I really just don't like Kevin P. Hate him? Hardly. Dislike him very strongly? Yes. His tone, approach and sense of humor are just not appealing. He PANDERS. The only thing worth watching on G4 is X-play, currently....and even that is suspect, sometimes.

I don't pine for TechTV, as I never had a chance to see it. By the time I got it, it was G4-TechTV...but even then, it was a far superior channel to the majority of drivel on G4 now. The Screen Savers, even after the merger, stilled had redeeming value. At least they renamed it to AotS, so fewer good memories could be spoiled.

Kevin P. is a very public face on the direction that G4 took and the path it maintains. He epitomizes and symbolizes that change and that's what drives the mad hate for him. I don't have to doubt his gamer creds to decide that I don't like him. I don't doubt he plays games...I just doubt that our preferences converge at all.

It wouldn't be quite so bad if every choice G4 appears to make didn't appear to be considerably worsen it's quality each time. Hell, who even remains on G4 from a year ago, let alone from pre-merger on either side? Drift Racing? Star Trek reruns? The Man Show? The channel's eventual renaming to "Penis" is immminent.

I love telling everyone about my girlfriend being a gamer. Why? Because she's hot as hell, and it makes me happy to rub the fact in I can bang a hot chick and then play Resident Evil 4 or Tetris DS...

Aaaand I'm done.

I have to agree that Attack of the Show has gone downhill. I just don't get why EVERYTHING has to be sexual. I practically dry heave every time Olivia does that 'In Your Pants' bit. Not really the actual advice but the lead up to the segment.

The Myspace Girl of the Week is just gross now. And before anyone chimes in with, "You must be gay then" I'll best you and say, yes, I am and I still would be grossed out if they had Myspace Boy of the Week.

I guess they do try to harp on the stereotypes of geeks since apparently geeks don't have sex. Attack of the Show, with it's near-nauseating innuendo would be a geek's sexual oasis. Campy is fun, treating me like I'm hard up is not.

I do love DVDuesday. Chris Gore rocks, and I like Blair Butler's comic picks even though I barely read comics any more. And who doesn't love Will! Maybe it's the fact they give you the details without the sleazy purrs and winks.

"I don't mean to call you out, or flame you, but if you got to post a link and tell people his show was successful and hilarious it probably wasn't."

Sorry, but what kind of messed up logic is that? Yeah, Katamari Damacy wasn't popular until after it started getting attention post-release. It probably wasn't that good since nobody knew about it, right?

"Yeah some gamers probably watched it, some gamers probably watched crap dry on a side walk doesn't mean it is a successful show. I am just saying becareful when you take your personal view, and say it as fact."

It helps to know what you're talking about. First of all, it was impossible to watch, as it was a radio show. Secondly, it was a homemade recorded-on-a-PC-microphone Quake/gamer culture podcast. It wasn't syndicated in the least, which would've been surprising seeing as back then he was just some unknown 14-year-old Californian kid.

"I can think of alot of horrible syndicated videogames shows that got a short lived gamer, spot light I wouldn't call them successes though."

If I were you, I'd be a bit hesitant to call his time in the gamer spotlight 'short-lived'", seeing as KP has in one way or another been member of the gaming media for over a decade yet is only 24.

At Babylonian

You refered to his exsistence before G4 and techtv/ as "hilarious, and Successful" yet go on to say

"It helps to know what you're talking about. First of all, it was impossible to watch, as it was a radio show. Secondly, it was a homemade recorded-on-a-PC-microphone Quake/gamer culture podcast. If he was so successful why wasn't his show seen anywhere or heard of beyond that small niche culture in which you had to point out. Seriously you point out a Niche Quake radio show, to show what, to show how little amount of people knew about him, or how little the amount of people would get the joke. He wasn't only nice to a certain entertainment medium radioshow/podcast, you won't even get the jokes, unless you played that mediums topic. So seriously point out the hilarity, and success.

Once again, calling him a success because a few like him doesn't stand especially when he is getting flamed post after post by the actual gaming culture, he is supposed to represent.

"If I were you, I'd be a bit hesitant to call his time in the gamer spotlight 'short-lived'", seeing as KP has in one way or another been member of the gaming media for over a decade yet is only 24." - Babylonia

I think you mistake the idea that he has staying power in a fad over actual success. His actual ability to survive as a videogame media journalist right now has nothing to do with his entertaining persona or ability. It probably has a much bigger, view that on air journalist are picked for looks more than talent, and he fits a certain look. The same look that got a simple segment producer, the co-hosting job at xplay, the same look that got Oliva moon her job on Attak of the Show. You have shown no valid point or proof that this man is a successful gaming journalist or media personality, you have made better case that: One videogames, is in dire need of better media personalites and two, videogames are trying to cator to a very mtv demographic.

Also mentioning his age, and comparing it with his stay in gaming isn't to impressive since how old is the medium we are actually talking about? He isn't the rolling stones, there isn't some rich heritage of videogame journalist and media stars you can look back on. I mean seriously I think I asked this question before, why don't we make the awesome list of On air prominent videogame media personalities? You just list that amazing top ten that Kevin has beat out, and I will conceed to his explosive success.

Somebody isn't successful, and hilarious when only you and your subset of friends read it, watched it, listened to it, and approve it for all the world to enjoy. Staying power doesn't mean lasting in an entertainment business that is barely out of its, infantcy stage itself.

Seriously, I am not mocking his radioshow/podcast, I just don't see how you can determine this man is a great success off of it and people that dislike him, are just haters? Seems to me the alot of people the first time, they heard of him was on G4 and judging him from there they DON'T LIKE HIM. You have a very good point with Katamary though, I will conceed to that. The thing is after post-release attention if everybody that picked the game up thought it was a smoldering piece of crap it wouldn't have been considered a success even if that small niche who advertised it felt it was gold.

The truth is Videogames and its industry are very young, and alot of its media personal are surviving on the fact that they got in early not that they are actually talented. You want to see if they have any sort of staying power, lets watch what happens to them beyond G4 or Attack of the show, that is when you can come on here and brag to me about Kevins P's success. Till then the man is nothing more than a blip on the gaming radar, till some new fad comes in that he doesn't fit and is replaced by that overnight success.

"I'm British. I've never heard or seen G4. I produce a little game, they showcase it in Cinematech without even contacting me first. I send them a little email asking, requesting they link me to where I could download the episode, and they just ignore me."

Jay I work at G4 and I used to work on Cinematech. Send me an email to Cheat@g4tv.com and I will get you a copy of the show. Just put "Jeremy Please Read This !!!" in the subject line.

Also this picture is an outtake from a the debut issue of Geek Magazine.

Hey everyone - not gonna get involved in the flame war - but I just want to clarify something.

This picture is just an out-take... they were goofing around before the "real" photo shoot. This picture is not actually going to appear in the magazine. When you see the real pictures, you'll see that Kevin isn't wearing high heels or too-tight jeans w/ the tag still on :)
