Before two weeks ago, I had zero interest in this game. Never had a PS2, and since I play the guitar in "real life," I was under the impression that Guitar Hero was a weak excuse for the real thing.

Then it happened. I went to a party where the game was a main attraction. I played once and was hooked. This game freaking rocks. I now have the dual guitar bundle preordered.

Even better, my wife (who has zero interest in video games) just played it for the first time over the weekend and said it was "really fun." Forget the Wii, this is all I need to get her hooked.

Don't tell anyone, but I do own a PS2. With my 360 being sent off for repair I've been rockin out on Guitar Hero. It's not as easy as it looks, but it does get easier. Also, those finger cramps are normal I have a hard time playing for more than an hour at a time. Even so I still can't wait for the 360 version, I'll be trading in my PS2 version for it.

I can't wait for this game. I played it once at a local gaming center on the PS2 to see what all the hype was about, and have been anticipating the 360 version ever since. If my PS2 hadn't broken, I probably would have bought it already. I'm just waiting for my preorder, which should arrive next Thursday.

Seriously, every 360 owner, you should try this game out. Just try it out at a store for 10 minutes. It's a ton of fun. I thought it looked kinda lame at first, like DDR with guitar, but it's a lot better than that.

Guitar hero is such a good game and doesn't matter what system its on. Even if you are a loyal fanboy guitar hero for the ps2 still desrves some respect. But still glad its on the 360

$90 though... Jeesh! Not all of us are made of money, guys.

I say we start up a fund for me, for my own copy of the game.

A lot of these comments sound just like me. I play guitar in "real life" and I've been so excited about the game coming out on 360. I know it's been such a phenomenon on PS2, but I've never played it. The song list is incredible, too! 2 of my favorite bands are on there - Megadeth and Iron Maiden!

I play bass guitar and guitar. This game never gave me any cramps in my hands. But it's incredible how hard it gets past the hard difficulty. All you do is just play those songs over and over again and you'll nab it eventually. The first one rules, but the second one has some pretty horrible covers.
Lamb of God Fans beware, The cover of laid to rest will make you cry because it's soooooooo horrible.

Wait... what? You seriously never played this game before because you're Xbox fanboys? That's just sad.

Feel free to play games on other consoles. There's lots of fun stuff out there you're missing by locking yourself into one platform.

I was wondering about the guitar included with the game......... I hold a guitar the opposite way most people do ala Eddie Van Halen.... does this pose a problem with this game ???

Actually, the real reason is because I don't have a PS2. I went from Dreamcast to Xbox. We have to stay in character around here, you know :)

Bassist in "real life" and GH2 fan here.

I had played the PS2 kiosk demo a while back, and I really liked it. When I heard it was coming out for 360, I was overjoyed and I preordered game + 1 guitar (forgot to order a 2nd) asap.

As I read more about the game, and played in a Best Buy one weekend, it started to eat me alive. I went out and bought the game (GH2) + wireless guitar for PS2. I'm glad I did, because I'm currently close to beating the game on Expert. I purposely DIDN'T buy Guitar Hero 1 since I knew I would be able to download the songs for 360 eventually.

So now I get to look forward to:

Better game engine (widescreen + HD support)
Better graphics
More songs (10 additional, plus original GH1 songs)

I'm also closing on a new house the same day that GH2 is coming out! Man, I'm going to get no sleep the night before. :D

The Red Octane site says in Pre-Order Terms and Conditions:

Your free gig bag may be shipped out with your order of Guitar Hero II prior to the launch date 4/3/2007 so you may receive your order by or after the launch date of 4/3/2007. We will ship out your order as early as possible so you will be one of the first to receive this product.

Does that mean that if you order from their site that you could possibly get it before or on the launch date? What's the chances of that happening?

Red Octane also has a promo code for free ground shipping. Depending on where you are located in relation to the Red Octane warehouse, that means that you could theoretically receive it the next day.
Thoughts?

I pre-ordered from Red Octane and received notice today that my GHII Multiplayer pack has shipped. UPS has the shipping information, but no tracking information yet. So, in the best of all possible worlds, I may have it in my possession before you fools. :D
