As a master of the occult, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has access to an astonishing amount of prescient items. He typically rotates them, most recently speaking to the mirror which he got at an estate sale from a Queen who apparently took a nasty fall. Pachter went up to the mirror and asked, "Mirror, mirror, on the wall. In July, who's the console winner of them all?"
The Mirror replied, "Why the Nintendo Wii and DS, of course."
Miffed at the information given by his impulse purchase, Pachter replies, "You better tell me something I don't already know or I'm shipping you by freight to Pidgeon!"
In a moment of sheer panic the Mirror blurts out, "NPD will report the PS3 beat the Xbox 360 in sales for July."
Pachter believes that for the month of July, which will be official from NPD on Aug. 23, that the DS (450,000 units) and Wii (330,000) dominated sales in North America. Although, for the first time ever, the PS3 will show sales of 160,000 units, while the Xbox 360 will have 115,000. This would also mean that the PS3 will have doubled sales since announcing their 60GB clearance sale last month. He goes on to say that the Xbox warranty issue was a speed bump for Microsoft as "as consumers struggled with the meaning of the 'three red rings of death' issue." He believes that the price cut and apparent fix of the design flaw will rebound Xbox 360 sales.

Damn I'm bored, but yeah H3 will move some serious numbers. I'm curious to know how the Halo branded 360 would do. I already have a "premium" and wish I had held out for an elite. But you know there will be tons that buy it just because it has Halo tattooed across it.

Oh, I'll play!
The only games I'm interested in on either system (as I have neither, now) are the following:
360:
• Banjo-Kazooie 3
• Resident Evil 5
• Dead Rising
• Kameo
• Maybe Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata (I just don't have time for big ass RPGs anymore, sadly)
PS3:
• Ratchet & Clank
• Little Big Planet
• Resident Evil 5
• Wipeout
• Maybe that superhero sandbox game once we hear something more about it
Either way, if you were me (and it's a damn shame you aren't!) you would instead say, "There isn't shit out on either system right now!"
And that's what I do say. There isn't shit out on either system right now.

To me the most critical advantage the 360 has is it has more graphics memory. Thus far every game that has come out on both systems looks and plays better on 360. If GTA does the same thing it's game over for Sony.

If you've been looking at the economy and have any kind of foresight, you should know that the HD race will probably be a dud and the Wii will succeed.
... And that I'll be crawling into debts because I lacked that foresight when I got my variable interest rate student loan.
Credit people, it's going to kill us like it killed us in the 20's.

You continue to lack insight if you think the Wii will ultimately win this generation.

I feel horrible for anyone obligated to choose a Game of the Year. There are least five games that would almost certainly make GOTY in any other year (barring some sort of hellish developmental collapse): Bioshock, Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Mass Effect.
I'm going to play the hell out of all of these titles, but I have a secret hope that Super Mario Galaxy pulls off the upset. No other previews and hands-ons make me just smile, for no good reason at all. ^^

Mario Galaxy has a strong chance....From what I've Halo has went back to its roots with the third one and I have a feeling it will be better than the first.......Mass effect looks like it will set the new standard for RPG's....Bioshock has been getting perfect scores left and right and his shaping up a strong case for GOTY...Smash Bros I doubt just because its a fighting game and the usually get overlooked....

Yeah, those should be good, dunno where I'm gonna find time to play them all. :(
As much as I like Halo though, I think it'll be the one that disappoints. When you have ads on everything but toilet paper and super hype has been built up forever, I think people will just be let down, no matter how good it is.
I'd say Bioshock on 360, Mario Galaxy on Wii, or Folding@Home for PS3 as GOTY runners.

Wow! It will outsell the xbox for a week maybe a month but they have a long road to go on to even have the slightiest chance to compare to the number of xboxs that are already in places in our homes.

I believe what he is saying is that in jul -aug the sales for the PS3 due to the 60GB discount will go over the 360s unit sales for that month.
He might be right but frankly its goign to take the PS3 to stay at 500 or below ontop of having more games than the 360 in order for it to start selling better than the 360...

out of sheer curiosity I wonder how many 360's that have been sold are replacement units for failed units.
