Nah ah! It's your fault!

Mommy, he hit me!

Also, the PS3 fails at rock guitar interoperability.

Nice Project Runway reference guys. I think you just seriously dinged your "cool gaming guys" cred. :)

As to the guitar thing, I have both games on the 360 and on that platform, Rock Band is written toa llow the Guitar Hero guitar to work just fine -- both wired and wireless versions. Guitar Hero 3 on the other hand explicitly blocks the Rock Band guitar from working with it. This is pretty lame especially since I know for a fct that Microsoft has rules about peripherals that say you can't do that sort of crap.

Yeah who knew anyone at Joystiq watched Project Runway. I knew I couldn't be the only nerd who liked it.

Question: Why is Activision even allowed to block patches for other people's games? They don't own Rock Band, nor did they develop for it. Does that mean companies can randomly demand competing games' patches be blocked for arbitrary reasons?

I can see this getting very, very, very out of hand.

So if neither side minds, why don't they release the damn patch, then they wouldn't have anything to argue about?

I'm not saying this isn't completely ridiculous that these two can't get along, but when the hell is Harmonix going to release a Rock Band guitar separately anyway?

January 31 is when I believe all the stuff will be sold separately.

Let's focus on the real story here which is McElroy bringing the Project Runway reference!
Keep up the good work Justin. Chris, don't fire him.
Seriously, this kind of blog post reference speaks to my values and that's why I keep coming back.

And remember: Chili's - The Humiliation is Worth it.

how can you say all PS3 owners have buyer's remorse? nothing in the Xbox camp appeals to me and i am completely happy with my PS3. just because you like 360 doesnt mean everyone else has to. if there is anything i semi-regret buying, its my Wii that is sitting with my DS Lite collecting dust while i use my PS3 and PSP on a daily basis.

ever heard the saying 'different strokes for different folks'? i hope you all get the RRoD.

Here's my solution. Harmonix, make a patch for all versions of Rock Band to play on every console, give Sony and MS the finger and make it happen since there's not a damn thing they can do about it. 360 and PS3 both use USB for their controllers so it shouldn't be too hard.

That's America for ya: Noone wants to take the blame for anything, so they point fingers elsewhere, and sometimes there are lawsuits attached to those fingers. You know, like those strings people wrap around their fingers to help them remember something, except it's a tiny lawyer on their finger instead.

February 4th.

Meanwhile, my boycott of buying DLC for this game until they got the guitars working ends as of yesterday. After all, they DID get the guitars working. Activision just cock blocked em. Why should I punish Harmonix when I can simply cancel my COD4 and Tony Hawk buying plans?

I have both 360 and a PS3. Bought GH2 and RockBand for my 360--works great. haven't bought GH3 yet--and probably won't. after RockBand, who needs GH???!

ps- my friend has a PS2 and all the GH games (1, 2, 3, and 80's)--so we generally play GH3 at his place, unless I bring my 360 over so we can all play RockBand. so while I do enjoy GH3, it seems kinda plain-jane after playing RockBand with our friends.

That's funny.. the PS3 a "failing system"..?

As in 33% failing..?

Failing to turn on?

A friend of mine was playing a holiday party where all of our friends would come, get drunk, eat, and play Rock Band... and for some reason I'm being asked to bring my PS3 and copy of Rock Band. Wanna guess why...?

Honestly, I don't get on here and enter comment posts to take shots at XBox360 fans. But for God's sake already, EASE UP!!! You guys should live and let live. Take your lips off the teat for a second and CHILL with all the PS3 bashing.

Thanks for the lesson in doublespeak, Red Octane/Activision.

How about you figure out your own way to make money instead of trying to charge Harmonix a fee to sell their own (superior) game?

More than likely Activision is telling the truth. Oh, except that they neglect to mention the so called 'agreement' involved MTV/Viacomm paying them a bunch of money for no reason.

Screw them, Rock Band makes them unnecessary anyway.

We love you Harmonix! Sniff sniff... really we do (tears of happiness, for realz).

Can anyone honestly tell me why Harmonix never offered a second controller in the first place? I will tell you why, because if they offered a second controller, that would have raised the price of their bundled game way over $200 and we would have had 2nd thoughts about buying it and if you recall few months back before the release of Rock Band, rumors circulated on the potential price tag on this thing and there were lot of articles on the internet saying that this was going to be the most expensive game. Well, Harmonix probably panicked came up with a cheap solution, leech off controllers made for Guitar Hero and all they have to do is rely on a patch. Harmonix can save money this way and can give the impression their "not so complete game because it is missing a bass guitar (after all, a band has to have a bass guitar") game for less then $200 and release it to the public. So when Activision says, "okay if you want to do that then pay up because you are not leeching off of us," Harmonix/MTV responds with, "hey we are just looking out for the gamer's interest, don't be mean, can't we all just get along, tee hee" At least Activision doesn't hide their greed, they want the moola, while Harmonix hides behind this notion that they are all about gamers but in reality, they are trying to fix their poor business planning and now they found a potential way to leech off of Activision. I give them credit for the spin.

This really makes me angry. I just bought GH III on the PS 3 ONLY BECAUSE I wanted a good guitar for Rock Band since my stupid PS 2 guitars don't work.

Activision is really dumb because:

a) I will return my worthless GH 3 bundle now since the guitar won't work for Rock Band and I already have GH 3 on the PS 2 (which works on the PS 3) anyway....

b) I will not buy future Activision games - never really liked their stuff anyway - but GH 3 was a good step for them ----until now with their obvious greed.

c) I am a very avid player with a whole circle of friends who play - and buy these products - I will tell them all about this and blame Activision now.

It's clear to me they just want some cash from Rock Band's people....which makes no sense at all..
