If you're just sure Nintendo's Wii Wheel peripheral is going to make your Mario Kart Wii game that much better, you may want to nab a second (remember, one comes in the box). Lucky for you, Gamestop is more than happy to take your money well before the game's April 27th release, with their latest circular promoting preorders for the game and – what's this? – a single Wii Wheel sold separately for $14.99.
If you ask us, that's pretty steep when you consider the Wii Wheel is just a plastic shell; you're better off putting that $15 towards a used Gamecube controller which, praise be to Bowser, will work just fine with Mario's latest racing simulator.

*j/k. I know this game will be worth more than my 50 bucks.
**Seriously, I know it doesn't look like shit. But it's obvious the game isn't made by the ones who made SMG

Why the hell don't they just sell Mario Kart Wii for $34.99???

I'm willing to bet that the wheel will be $10 at most other retailers. keep in mind gamestop was charging $25 for the wii zapper combo, while other places were charging $20. I know most of you will still feel its not worth the tenner, but still.

Oh you guys need to lighten up its video games we are talking about for god's sake.... I think the Nintendonalds is pretty funny ..... Everyone knows the Wii is a ripoff but most of us (myself included) still bought it because we all have women and children around.... Everything about this system is a punchline.... Even the fact it outsells 2 real next gen systems

Can someone PLEASE explain this logic to me?
I thought the entire purpose of the Wii was to push the innovation of games by changing the standard control scheme that we are all used to. The Wii was supposed to push the envelope and make developers and gamers alike think differently about how we play games...
by still using a gamecube controller?
This makes no fucking sense!
If the Wii is the innovative masterpiece that all of you bought into, then why aren't you suggesting we use this awesome motion control stuff, huh? I thought it was the wave of the future!? I thought ten years from now we'd all be playing games like this?
I mean, you know because tilting a controller like a steering wheel TOTALLY immerses you into the game, and is like, TOTALLY innovative.
God I hate the Wii.
Please excuse the rant, I just have trouble understanding what is so great about this horrible piece of shit of a video game system. Somehow Nintendo has now LITERALLY fooled all of you into buying a gamecube AGAIN.

Well, it only makes sense to support the GameCube controller. Otherwise, there's little point in many people's eyes to even include all of the GameCube controller and memory card ports. Despite owning a freaking Wii, though, I fully admit that it's very overpriced and is a victim of its own success.
Honestly, it's worth $149.99, tops, and it's too mainstream now. Thus, it has to cater to ever idiot alive who thinks that waggling a controller's really some legitimate means of controlling game play. Don't get me wrong: No More Heroes easily justifies my Wii purchase, but some of the big-name titles that really let me down have really left a bad taste in my mouth about Wii in general.

Sweet hell, man, don't be such a moron, settle down. It's just a game console for christssakes. It's a game console, it's not the second coming of Christ. Nobody is holding the console up expecting it to be the biggest technological marvel of the century. Because it has motion control, does that mean every single game made for the system should therefore have it?
It's the only console allowing multiple control options, OH GOD, clearly that means the only system is a joke. WHAT A HORRIBLE THING.
The PS3 has sixaxis motion control, should every game use tilt control? You seem to suggest that all Wii developers should make every game use motion control.
But then again, apparently I've been fooled LITERALLY into buying a gamecube AGAIN. Such a twit.
By the way, ExciteTruck rules. Good luck finding anything similar on another console.

Of course the Wii is innovative, and well beyond merely using a Gamecube controller. You're looking at it on this very article!
Honestly, man, how can you say the Wii isn't innovative if Nintendo has found a way to get people to pay $15 for a plastic shell? That's innovation at its finest.

Yeah I agree with you man... I have a Wii and I thought I was going to love it but I think the thing is a waste of space... It makes an OK baby sitter for my 6 year old twins and wife though ;) ... As much flack as the PS3 gets for its shitty online and lack of games the Wii easily eclipses it in mediocrity in every way possible IMO.... I hate the Wii but I will have to continue to buy games for it because my kids love the GD thing... But, then again thats who the system was designed for... Children

What's funnier, is that a 3rd party Wii Steering Wheel is avaliable in the UK for £14.99... ($30). Sounds more reasonable for it to cost nearer £5 than £15. Either way, I wont be buying any useless attachments for the Wii, especially if they're over £5.

Wow!! That's smartest business decision!!!!
The plastic costs probably $0.05 - rest is pure profit!!!!
Sony, MSFT - watch out for N skyrocketing shares!!!!!!!

I think they released this at $14.99 to give people a reason to complain.... if you look around, most 3rd party Wii wheel attachments released currently are -more- expensive than this (up to $29.99). And that's without a B button extension, hole in the side to allow for IR pointing, and pass through for the wrist strap... in other words, Nintendo's has more thought put into it, is first party, and cheaper than most of what's out there already.
And this is the Wii... the console that emphasizes different ways of gaming, getting into games more physically... the attachment is going to appeal to new/casual gamers mostly... most of us here will obviously use the Gamecube controller. If you wanna truly gripe about money, how about $10 for the 3 new Halo maps in April...

I can see including one, if your Grandparents/Parents/Gaming-Challenged associates wanted to play with you. Buying two, now you're running a halfway house for non-gamers, a speakeasy hiding from the hardcore police. That, my friends, would just be immoral.

We're all forgetting the most important feature of this product; it's Nintendo therefore it is an INDESTRUCTIBLE $15 piece of plastic.
Plus it doubles as a Frisbee.

They sold the actual "wii" wheel for $10 at K-mart and 15 at GS, but GS did have the cheaper wtv brand of the wheel...Regardless I bought a second one from K-mart thinking I actually needed it to play. It turned out to be a good buy, My 2 year old luvs it, it makes her feel like she's part of the action when myself and the wifey play. Lots of fun, but I still prefer my 360. the wii is more of family fun together. She likes it tho, and my ps3 is a wonderful blu-ray player just haven't found another use for it, maybe when FF rpgs come out. Off topic for a sec. seriously don't waste you money either way, with gas prices and food prices on the rise, the 10 I spent on the wheel, left me cold and dead inside.
