BioShock officially coming to PS3

We've heard rumors of it for months and now it seems that the most recent one circulated by 1UP's Quartermann is indeed on the money: BioShock is coming to the PS3. The news will apparently drop in the July issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly.

All we know at this point is that the game may get some graphical improvements, it's due in time for the 2008 holiday season and that the port is being headed up by new BioShock creative director Jordan Thomas, a designer on the original. many far superior games out with far better gameplay mechanics and feel

I don't see how Resistance belongs on that list. It's a good game, but it isn't all that.

Now Resistance 2, that looks like it could be all that.

I am an Xbox 360 owner. This news makes me happy. The word exclusive has a negative connotation to me - it excludes people from great gaming experiences just because they happened to buy the wrong hunk of hardware.

Let's just hope there's some quid pro quo and we get MGS4 on the 360 now. :D

I have a PS3. It's getting no love right now. I already played Lost Planet, I already played Oblivion, I already played Eternal Sonata, I already played Bioshock, I already played Ridge Racer 6, I already played Enchanted Arms, I already played Mass Effect (assuming it ever makes it over there), I already played Ninja Gaiden Black (but I still bought Sigma, because I'm that kind of whore), I already played Chronicles of Riddick (but I'll probably still buy it again, but for 360), I already played F.E.A.R., I already played Fight Night Round 3, I already played Lego Star Wars, I already played Marvel Ultimate Alliance (although I can't figure out why), I already didn't play Sonic the Hedgehog, I already played The Orange Box, I already played GRAW 2, I already played Rainbox Six Vegas, I already played Splinter Cell: Double Agent, I already didn't play Tony Hawk's Project 8, I already bought Vampire Rain (showing my poor judgment once again).

Tell me again, why I should be interested in these weeks or months or year old ports?

Well, believe it or not, not everyone HAS every game console. In fact, you'll find few who do. And to some, they've chosen PS3 over 360 like a couple of my friends. So as to why YOU should be interested in these ports, you shouldn't. But these ports aren't FOR you so they developers could give fuck all of a concerne about you.

But as to the difference between Ridge Racer 6 and Ridge Racer 7... are you retarded? This is a serious question. The "Xbox World" campaign style of RR6 was clumsy and hamfisted. The hex system and surrounding a car to unlock it (which, incidently, finishing the campaign only unlocked a tragically small amount of cars compared to playing online). Ridge Racer 7's campaign was far more excellent and even allowed you to progress through that campaign on or offline. RR7 also featured a customizable vehicle system missing from Ridge Racer previously, more updated tracks, more tracks period, more game modes, better online, decal system, and the option to install to all but kill loading times. Ridge Racer 7 was everybit a leap forward for the franchise as R-4 and Ridge Racer on PSP.

I actually liked the RR7 campaign, which was odd, since I expected it to be the same as the RR6 one, which as you said, sucked.

I don't generally play racing games online, which makes RR7 a lot better for me than RR6.

The graphics are practically identical from what I can tell and the driving model (pretty much untouched since RR4) is too.

For anyone who has one of the two HD consoles, there's not a ton of reason to buy the other one. Most of the best games are cross platform, and those that aren't often get ported over.

There are some great games that are PS3 exclusives, but probably not enough to justify a PS3 purchase, even if you have the money. The same is true vice versa. I could buy a 360 if I wanted, but then I'd have like 3-4 games on it, which seems stupid for a $450 investment in hardware, when I can't even get through all the games I want to play on the PS3.

If you're rolling in money and/or time, it might be worth it to buy both. Otherwise, no. But don't make it the PS3's fault, it's just the way this generation is turning out - most games are multiplatform, therefore lending little incentive for owners of one console to justify the initial investment in the other console.

Same kinda thing for me, but replace your 360 with my PC and same scenario. The only difference is that PS3 exclusive titles stay on the system, and 360 games pretty much always get ported.

My 360 is lonely for quality exclusives that are not on the PC as well.

If I was an iddiot PS3fanboy I would say the following:

Fuck yeah! In your face flipping Xbox troll mofos! We get your exclusive! Bitches, HA!

But as I am not and have already played this game, I would happily recommend it to PS3 owners, its worth a purchase, despite being a year old.

Well, now, that makes my decision much easier. I had planned to purchase a 360 or PS3 this year. PS3's been a strong contender because of LBP, GT5, and BRD. But I'm dying to play Bioshock, though it was pretty much the only thing drawing me to the 360.

Now, it's PS3 bababy.

And yeah, I know Bioshock is out for the PC, but I don't have a computer capable of playing it, and I want to by a new console this year, not a new computer.

I dont believe for a second that this was the only game that had you thinking of buying a 360 - there are plenty other ones as well. Sounds like a fake statement to me.

Well, maybe Viva Pinata, but it's coming to the DS. Street Fighter HD Remix also caught my eye, but isn't that going to be on Playstation Network as well?

Please know, I'm a Wiitard. I'm up to my eyeballs in Wii and DS games because that's where my primary gaming interest lies. I do want an HD console, and it's close to the time when I'll be getting one. There are very few games on either Sony's or MS' systems that interest me, actually. PS3 had more of them... and now it has all of them.

The Blu-Ray player is also a major factor in this decision, now that HD-DVD is dead. Seriously, dude, it speaks volumes of my high expectations for Bioshock for it to be the sole reason I was going to drop $300 on one console instead of another.

el serpiente, I have the PS3, so think for a second. My statement is that I don't believe one game is the deciding factor in getting the 360. RPG's as a whole were my reason for a PS3. So I got it in expectation of many titles beyond one, as I would expect others to do as well.

Plenty of PS3 loyalists like yourself pop in threads and make fake statements about how they would get a 360 but 'such & such' is another reason not to... This had sounded like another one of those.

Don't worry, I'm relaxed. I don't have to vent hate for a console like you do as I didn't decide to be a fanatical loyalist to just one corporation.

Ken Levine said the same had choices in it. So when I figured out what was going on, I tried to change my path. But you can't. You can't not push the big red button.

The only real choices in the game are whether to kill the little sisters, and that doesn't really matter either. It changes about 3 minutes of walking through one level (where you interact with nothing, might as well be a cutscene).

The game is on a rail, like almost all other shooters.

And Forza 2. But to be fair, Bioshock was already off that list if you were counting PC games, which I assume you were, since you didn't list Mass Effect or Gears of War.

And anything by Rare. So Viva Pinata and Kameo too.

I played it on PC, and honestly I dont see all the hype behind it. I found it kinda boring, all you do is walk around and may be kill something once in ten minutes. And you never fight more than three guys at a time, and each one takes forever to kill.
The water effects were pretty, but everything else was that special. It would've made a much better RPG than an FPS in my opinion.
But anyway, dont mean to shit on your parade. Gratz to all PS3 owners who want to play this and dont have a 360 or a good PC. Hope you enjoy it.

And to the people who keep saying this is "the first good game for PS3" STFU you twats. GTAIV, Resistance, Uncharted and MGS4 prove that spending $600 on the system last year was one of the best desicions I've made in recent years (just like spending $400 on upgrading my PC instead of buying a 360. Who woulda thought that every 360 "exclusive" would come out for PC at the same time?)

I remember the random, bioshock = fps = crap comments, and now you will see all those people mysteriously like the game because its on their system of chose, rather then it just being a good game, but everyone already knew that.

There are assholes in every bunch. And they will not be deterred by this. They'll find new ways to be assholes.

BTW, I was one of the BioShock = fps guys, and I stand behind it. It's a good game, but all the hype about it being a deep/complex games was junk. It is a shooter, a beautiful shooter with a better story than most shooters.

Seriously the best time I've had playing a game in years. As a 360 owner, I am pleased to present this masterpiece my ps3 comrades. It is a journey like no other and one of the few games to attempt (and succeed handily) at incorporating other art forms through visuals, and story references, and sound into the art of game design.

A must own on any console.

I heard it has great atmosphere, (i reason why i loved PoP Sands of Time so so much)

multiplayer is no biggy since way too many games are around that emphazises that.

NOT to mention the startling revelation that the main character is the son of Andrew Ryan suffering from memory loss.

And they'll also discover that if you save all the Little Sisters all that happens is that you live to be a very old man and they surround you when you're dying.

And if you kill even 1 of the sweet lil girls you end up taking over the world and stealing nuclear weapons.

This game was truly epic. GOTY material in my opinion.

The ps3 didn't deserve this game back then. It doesn't deserve it now and I fail to see why its even been ported. But if it is then w/e.

Its like over 7 months now since the game came out and everyone who was really into it bought it back then and has probably beat the crap out of it by now.

This is a great game and its nice to see it port over to the PS3 my only concern is how much they are planning to sell it for. The 360 version has been out for so long you can score it for around 20-25 dollars. Hopefully the PS3 version is going to be priced reasonably or come packed with oddles of extras.

What's amusing to me is that Sony Defense Force is a lie. Period. It was actually a site hijacked by the Wii60 movement to openly mock the Sony crowd. It's constantly maintained with blatant parody fanboyism and to this day, only two types of people use it's mention as a legitimate site.

1. The incredibly stupid and niave.

2. The Wii60 fucktarded.

Not suprisingly, there is quite a bit of overlap between those two groups.

Very good game. Enjoyed the story, amazing atmosphere, wonderful surround sound, got slightly long winded at the end, and had a terrible final boss IMO.

The pros def outweight the cons here...

They had to cut so much content out of the original to make it appeal to the 360 audience I felt cheated out of what should have been a far more epic game. They cut a ton of characters, the majority of the back story, a bunch of levels such as you participating in the new years eve riots, and dumbed the difficulty down to the point that death is a trivial speedbump in gameplay so that crappy 360 players could not feel bad when they repeatedly died. Much like GTA 4.

If they made the PS3 version the proper version that was actually difficult, and added all the guts of the game back in, I might buy it a second time, the first being the PC version which I promptly hacked to get rid of the retarded DRM.

It was a great game, right up until they had to gimp it for mass appeal. Hopefully they fix that... but I just know they won't. Pass.

So this is how 360 fanboys react when they lose one of their exclusives...Man I hope the PS3 will never get Halo because I think the 360 fanboys heads might explode....

I find it hilarious that some ppl would bash or make passive agressive remarks about games like Lost Planet and BioShock commin to the PS3 with comments like:

"Enjoy the somewhat overrated and boring FPS shooter on the ps3 after a year it came out on the PC and the 360."

I am sure with the recent announcement that Itagaki made regardin the ps3 port of NG, some fanboys made comments about how right he is and that the original xbox version is superior in everyway.

It sounds as if the news of games like Lost planet and Bioshock being ported to other systems is a kick to the nuts or if their GF was sleeping with their best friend for some fanboys, which is ridiculous.

The part where someone likes a title, then hates it after hearing being ported to the ps3 or not being ported to the 360 somewhat reminds me of a conversation I had with my friend about MGS4 whereas it went like this:

Friend: You know that the 360 will get MGS4. They ALWAYS get the PS3 exclusives. I cannot wait for it.

Me: Wanna bet? Although, it would be really cool to see it being ported to the 360, it was announced a bunch of times that it won't be ported.

Friend: Oh well. MGS is way overrated and I prefer the Splinter Cell series over this. At least that is an xbox 360 exclusive.

The may not be exact word to word, but the content is all accurate.

BTW, my friend owns a 360 while I own a ps3. He no longer bashes the ps3 (even though he never played one) ever since I got the system, but there are a few times where he would make comments like the one above.

I own Bioshock on the 360 and it's a FANTASTIC game. I'm glad the PS3 owners can play this because it's worth EVERY PENNY.

It's like the GTA games on the old Xbox. A year late,but still worth the wait.

SWEET! Im definately gonna get it. I had Bioshock on 360 (before I got rid of my 360) and I currently have Bioshock on PC. The PC version is fun, but all it really does is make me miss having it on a console.

You guys can whine and cry about all the fanboyism, and how gamers should be united, blah, blah, blah... but I think it's completely pathetic that people went so far out of their way to say how lame, how derivative and boring yet-another-fps it was, and now when it's finally coming to their system of choice, they trumpet it's good graces like Jesus himself is porting it over.

Next time a game comes out on either system exclusively, I want to see all of the "it's good to be a gamer" comments again. I know that I won't, but I want to see them again.
