Art students make LittleBigColossus in 24 hours
We've got to admit that when we decided to write up this post on the 24-hour LittleBigPlanet Game Jam at Parsons New School of Design, it was because of a few misconceptions. First, we thought that, since this was Parsons, former chair of fashion design (and our personal favorite human) Tim Gunn would be there. He was not. Also, we thought that a "Game Jam" would be a lot more like "Space Jam." This, too, proved to be untrue.
If you're curious what a bunch of designers-in-training came up with for LBP, we have a truly stunning video of their "LittleBigColossus" after the jump. Just don't expect any slam-dunking bunnies or wizened fashionistas over their shoulders telling them to "Make it work™."

Dunno why you got rated down, you only mentioned the level, not the game, lol

@ Maverick
Welcome to LBP News?
Praise or GTFO!
Maverick Saturn @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:39PM
Silly though, he only mentioned the level, lol, I find it to be a tad annoying as well, look how many times the creator got killed, that strikes me with fear.
D_Average @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:31PM
In seeing the above comment was voted down, you can't help but wonder who's behind the curtain and just how he/she/they rationalize such decisions....
TheAzureKnight @ Sep 23rd 2008 10:57AM
BORING...
Mind numblingly so...
For real what made this vid even remotely interesting was the pretty graphics and the sound.
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:22AM
I'm sure everyone's shocked you don't like this, given your track record as a Sony fanboy.
Vidikron @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:38AM
Thanks for your insight once again. You have a month longer to keep saying the same thing in every LBP article. Yay!
Maverick Saturn @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:46AM
Azure, you like to dig yourself into holes don't you, never in my life have I seen a 22 year old act so childish...
TheAzureKnight @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:56AM
What's childish? Voicing my OPINION about the game?
Just for your information I read all the LBP articles in the hopes of finding something to actually be jealous of. So far though I haven't see anything remotely WOW about this game.
Sorry but not damn thing about this game makes me "Gosh darn it. The ps3 has this game and the 360 doesn't"
And I'm not the only one who feels this way about the game so continue to act like I've committed some grand crime cuz the truth is that I'm simply waiting to be impressed.
So far all I've seen is a brown sack run and jump through some a very simple level that had absolutely no challenge or depth to it. It was a pretty level and had some nice sound as well but other than that it was mediocre to the max...
Killjebus @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:59AM
Asshat,
You say you are a Democrat yet you repeat the same old tired BULLSHIT like a Republican.
COME UP WITH A new WAY TO BASH THE PS3 OR THIS GAME PLEASE or I will start calling you...
McSame
as for me, for now on I will refer someone telling a LIE as PALIN.
For example don't Palin to me Asshat...you know you secretly WANT this game.
Vcize @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:02PM
"You have a month longer to keep saying the same thing in every LBP article. Yay!"
Assuming that his current screenname lasts the month, that is.
Jack of No Trades 85 @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:05PM
Azure
Your such an idiot. Both you and Fernando. You guys love stupid rehash games that show nothing new, but you don't like LBP?! Where else can you be this creative in a game?
That only way you could be more creative than LBP is if you go learn Maya or 3DMAX and start creating your own 3d models. And with your low IQ its going to be a punishment to your brain.
Maverick Saturn @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:13PM
No Azure, it's the way you voice your opinion, I have no problem with people liking or not liking something, we all have different personalities, I can't expect you to like LBP or PS3 for that matter, I happened to buy all so that my opinions aren't as biased as yours, but unfortunatly you are not in the position to do so or simply have no interest in doing so, that's fine, so I won't judge.
However, coming into an article going 'BORING...' and saying stupid ass things that have nothing to do with your opinion or the article but more you trying to get attention is what I find childish. I would expect that of a 15 year old but come off it man...
What's wrong with coming in and saying something worth debating with, I'm not saying LBP will be amazing or fail either. Halo isn't my cup of tea, you don't see me entering all Halo articles going 'BORING... Mind numbingly so'.
Maverick Saturn @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:15PM
No jack, azure is nothing like Fernando, Fernando may be a self proclaimed Wii fanboy, he's made that clear, but I can accept his immaturity, he's young and even still, he can be humourous at times.
Azure is a grown man, he said himself he is 22 hitting 23 and acts worse then Fernando and worst of all, isn't funny...
TheAzureKnight @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:18PM
Lol killjebus I'm surprised as hell that you are a Democrat....
But hey as long as it means No McCain then that's fine with me!
Lol at the Palin stuff. For such a fighter she sure does whine alot...
The media is picking on me...make them stop!
Mr Chain @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:44PM
psh, trying you cover your own roots as a Sony fanboy tmacair?
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:52PM
Looks like I finally have an internet stalker! You're trying to piss me off that much is certain, but you definitely have to step up your game to do that cause I have some of the thickest skin around here.
It's ok you only created this creepy stalker account today, and no one expects a pro troll in one day. Hell it even took me a while to get going.
Mr Chain @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:06PM
If I wasn't pissing you off, then why are you replying? :)
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:16PM
Cause you know I'd drive you insane if I ignored you. Don't worry, one day I will so I can get extreme personal satisfaction over watching you flip out but hell you just started stalking me today...I'm still coming to terms with apparently being a big enough internet star to have a stalker.
Thanks for all the extra attention!
Mr Chain @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:33PM
Nah, not really, you are just to easy to goat, if you where to stop replying, I would have gotten bored already, but you made this so much fun.
danny. @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:01AM
I'm starting to think I like the idea of LBP more than the game itself. It could still be a system seller for me, but that did look a bit tedious :/
j.howlett @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:11AM
couldn't see the vid you posted but i think i found it on youtube. the youtube vid looked fun.
ratm @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:13AM
I'm buying a PS3 for this game but this level was ugly, boring, near unplayable and dissapointing. They should've just used the built in textures instead of making their own low-res with the playstation camera. Thumbs up for creativity though.
Fenix @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:21AM
Agreed. Still looking forward to it though.
Obie @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:28AM
The customization stuff rocks, but the platforming seems floaty and unresponsive...but thats just me.
Maverick Saturn @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:34AM
I congradulate thier creativity, although the level itself looked tedious.
Saying that, I can see a lot of fan work coming into the light, maybe people trying to recreate popular games like God of war and such in LBP.
It all depends of the extent of the level creation mode, I kind of expected a half arsed level creation system, something I'd grow eventually bored of like the Halo Forge, which was all great at first but got limited. But from the looks of things, it's suprisingly open :O
I know people are saying looking through custom levels will be an issue, but it won't be any more an issue then many games out there, take sims 2 for example, it probably has the most crappy and great custom stuff for any game, but yet, it's never bothered me, so I doubt this will.
LBP seems to have been getting some good feedback which is getting me hyped, as much as some may say it looks generic, it looks the most innovative game on consoles out at the moment, if there is any others, I certainly can't remember them.
drybones @ Sep 23rd 2008 11:59AM
im gonna spend like a week at a time for each level to make sure they're AWESOME! :D!!!
(but thats just cuz i suck at creativity and my imagination sux so its just gonna take me that long to think of something lol)
obo @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:00PM
Nope. No way.
After Spore, I'm not falling for the hype of a game whose backbone is user-created content.
When I can play it, and it's fun, I'll believe it. Until then, I'll just keep thinking about how stupid I was to buy Spore at release.
Maverick Saturn @ Sep 23rd 2008 12:35PM
Lol, I'm refraining from saying 'Serves you right for listening to the hype and buying on day 1' lol
Jfk Aok @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:18PM
Looks about as much fun to play through as stabbing yourself in the eye. It was probably more fun to make than play. Although making something that isn't fun (nobody wants to play) isn't rewarding. The whole LBP physics crap is already old and I haven't even played the game yet.
And...I gotta say that comparing that to shadow of colossus in anyway is pretty pathetic. I'd change the title to "a nod to colossus" as that's what it may be.
Vidikron @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:21PM
I'd like to play that level.
T @ Sep 23rd 2008 1:33PM
Such beautiful popup there at the end of the video. Not to mention it looks like they built a level they couldn't even beat...
Beautifully made, really clever...but ultimately, this is NOT an example of what you'll be seeing out of LBP. I'm with those concerned that you'll be sifting through more garbage then you will quality stuff like this.
Show of hands, how many people are expecting a deluge of sexually inappropriate stages? Yeah they can be flagged, but they'll still be poured in.
Maverick Saturn @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:20PM
You're complaining?
Michael @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:06PM
I can tell who the Project Runway fans are here. Man, every time Heidi comes out from behind the runway I am blown away. Also, this game is going to be awesome!
HamalSharatan @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:56PM
I just wanna know what's that song on minute 02:00.
343 Guilty Fart @ Sep 23rd 2008 2:57PM
I'm terribly psyched for this game and would love to make and share levels with anyone here in the joystiq community when this game drops. psn id: Herr_Zrbo
mattrob24 @ Sep 23rd 2008 3:00PM
Can't get the video to load.
Lokno @ Sep 23rd 2008 5:21PM
A moving level (get it?) That's actually something I wanted to try. Nothing says I'm still not going too, though. I think 24 hours was a bit rough, they should have given them at least the weekend.
Arnon @ Sep 23rd 2008 5:51PM
You know.. I hate saying this SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH.. but I honestly think that this game could be a lot better for the 360.. just due to the fact that the 360 revolves around it's online play.. then again, I'm sure all the 360 tards would say it's a gay game because of the characters and name.
gotexas13 @ Sep 24th 2008 10:12PM
can't wait to play, I need to play now
joe @ Sep 25th 2008 8:25PM
I was in the game jam. The game is FUN!!
Evil grim @ Nov 1st 2008 8:56PM
Woo!
This is amazing!
I cant believe they made something like that.
Man im glad i bought a 160GB PS3, I always knew that the PS3 would start shining.
