When the PS3 landed in other countries, it was met with only gigantic taxi cabs and a hail of bullets. With that in mind, using the Zelda theme song to celebrate the console's launch in Malaysia seems downright pedestrian. You read that right: when Mr. Naoi Sudo took to the stage, it was to the familiar strains that have accompanied nearly all of Link's adventures.
It's not a zany gun battle, but it's still a huge gaff for Sony in the massively important Malaysian market, where they can't afford a single misstep. We would be surprised to see all of Sony Malaysia get (a) pink slip, but make no mistake: Heads will roll.
There is very little chance of that being a mistake. I would say a prank was played or a disgruntled employee was getting revenge. Whatever the reason it makes Sony look stupid. Whoever did this has got some balls and like you said is most likely fired.
With the exception of OOT, I had more fun playing the 2 Dark Cloud games than any other Zelda games. I only mention that cause everyone says that DC is a Zelda clone.
Now, if they would only add puzzles to the dungeons in Dark Cloud 3 then it would be infinitely better than Zelda..for me at least.
Vcize, I have to agree with you, and it deeply saddens me to say so. Nintendo simply lost the Zelda charm with Twilight Princess, and Phantom Hourglass was just too dumbed down.
And on the other hand, looking back at it, Wind Waker was pure genius, plain and simple. The only thing it was lacking was a more Zelda-like difficult level.
Ouch. I doubt it was deliberate, some low-level flunky who just searched "epic video game theme" on google to put music together, or is one of the people who think "Playstation = video games" and figured any tune would work
Yes. That's right. 5 seconds of music that people love anyway has completely obliterated PS3's chances in the Malaysian market. This is going to shove the bailout right off the front pages.
You know the rules, when Sony or Nintendo do bad, it has to be blown out of all proportions. When Microsoft do good, they have to be praised for how awesome they are regardless of how small the good thing was.
The person that put all this together probably hasn't play a Zelda game. But, whats crazy is that it only takes a little bit of research to find out were else the music is used?!
don't they normally plan these events very carefully... Selecting what music to be used when... They don't normally just tell the sound guy... Find some tunes and play them here, here and uh... here... But still I guess anyone can mess up...
Not for the Malaysian market...... what would they know of theme music used for a flamboyant fairy-elf looking for a princess? Its not like he's as popular as the other princess scouting plumber.
Sony: Sorry people, Timmy who organised the event had his Ipod playing in the background connected to a massive stereo system, he had Halo music playing as well :D
It might be the SoulCALIBUR II version of the Zelda theme. Remember how Link was in the GameCube version? Yeah, the series' main theme came along with him.
When that zelda music came on I thought Myiamoto was gonna pop out somewhere and crash the party. You know how Superman has his theme song when he transform into Superman.
Oh come on - as if there wasn't any oversight on the project before it was shown, and the person working on it, for Sony, had no idea that it was a Nintendo tune.
Please. This was deliberate and deceitful.
Does Sony have Karl Rove on the team now, or what?
I don't get why some people actually hate certain consoles for no reason. Its a machine, that hooks up to your TV to play games. buy the one that has the games you like on it ignore the rest of them. I don't get why you call Sony supporters idiots either. Frankly your an idiot, how the hell does playing the Zelda theme at a PlayStation event compare to Jerusalem playing the Nazi national anthem on Hanukkah? Dick...
It doesn't really compare in the real world, but I see what he's saying because Nintendo and Sony are direct competitors, which some people I suppose would consider to be "enemies" and make far-fetched analogies like comparing them to Nazis and Jews (very far-fetched).
The Zelda theme could argueably be considered Nintendo's "national anthem" and for Sony to play it at one of their events as one of their bigwigs is walking up to the podium is pretty much a slap-in-the face to Sony, or maybe they don't give Malaysia that much credit and are trying to ride the coattails of Nintendo's success and don't think the Malaysians will notice... either way, this is confusing and I'm curious about how it came about.
Goreful, a better comparison would be the Cowboys playing the Redskinss theme song as their coach walked up to be interviewed after a game. People would definitely wonder how and why that happened
As much as Sony Fanbags want to down the Zelda franchise (Zelda:TP is still a wayyyyyyy better game than any game PS3 game out right now and I own all 3 systems) they still can't/won't convince 7 million and growing fans who purchased the game that the franchise is losing it's touch. C'mon GoW really IS really the MOST OVERHYPED game in the last decade. Don't get me wrong it's okay but not THAT GREAT!!!
