I still play Halo. I play CoD4 occasionally but it's not my cup of tea, too much I-spawn-then-get-sniped-from-across-the-map-repeat-a-few-times-ok-time-to-go-back-to-Halo.

I like CoD4 but I'm REALLY bored with it. Also I prefer WWII anyway. So I don't mind if this is the same as CoD4 - at least all of the maps will be brand new.

Got my beta key late last night and played one round, on the map "Roundhouse."

fun, but it definitely feels a lot like CoD4 with a new skin. that's not a bad thing though. it's nice to have thematic variety.

i'm not really into the blanket substitutions in this game, it really does make it just feel like a re-skin. treyarch didn't really have to put much into it.

i think the single-player campaign will be sweet, considering the added WWII "realism" with the environments and such. it's a lot more gory and i reckon it'll put the fear of war into you.

Robotochan, I totally agree. Not to mention the grenade shi**ing after you kill someone. I do love the game. But there are issues. Hopefully World at War can address some of them.

It seems to be a much more close quarters sorta game. Very few grenades seem to be used and out of 2 or 3 hours I got sniped twice... and I was standing still...

Limiting the level to 11 was a poor move in my opinion, we don't get to see the oh so hyped flamethrower and the only flame we do see is the molotov cocktail which will only kill someone if you actually hit them with it...

I also like the ability to revive people in last stand, I often need revived...

Wait, so basically the problem with this game is that it's a WW2 game?

sigh.

While I admit COD WOW seems better than we first thought. But with Fable 2, Dead Space, Fallout 3, Gears 2 and Left 4 Dead....no mas dinero!

Yeah, now is really not the time for dabbling in games that aren't those you listed. Especially when you could give less than a crap about another WWII shoot-em-up. :S

It does seem better than first thought, but your right. This is going to be a crazy fall, maybe a rent, possibly sometime next year.

After playing the Beta, it just seems like a 'Day of Defeat' mod for CoD4.

No, it's the evil Treyarch making problems again in the gaming universe, smashing infants with sledgehammers and drowning puppies while torturing small children. But glorious developer Infinity Ward shall make all right in the gaming realm again, and drive evildoer Treyarch out!

(Sarcasm, in case you didn't notice.)

Honestly, the game is great. I still don't get why everyone hates on Treyarch so much. Face it kids: CoD3 was actually GOOD. On paper, it scored almost exactly on par with 2, and don't give me this BS about 'atmosphere'. It's not like the modern warfare stuff isn't everywhere either.

The reason people are going to go away from COD 4 is that many are bored with it. Infinity Ward is NOT going to release any more maps for it, as they are now busy with COD 6. There are close to a million people who are Gold Cross LVL 55's in COD 4 so they will switch over to the next thing.

Also I'm glad CTF is back (adding War back is alright too.) My group I play with on cheapassgamer.com though didn't know how to play CTF so I had to teach a lot of them.

Plus when I played with random people over the weekend they didn't know either. It's amazing how many people don't know how to play CTF because it wasn't in COD 4. Was there every a successful online shooter that didn't have CTF before COD 4? Maybe the SOCOM's?

At least this beta works, unlike the SOCOM beta that had 6 patches and just ended Saturday night, 4 days before the game is at retail.

Ive played the beta and it really is not as cod4... just like he said if you want modern don't waste your time with WaW as I will not be. the beta just isn't that great of a game definitely not enough to make me give up my beloved mp5 or p90 both silenced of course. I'm definitely not sold on going back to WW2 it's old, over-used and boring... give me something new that feels new with somewhat "current" events that i can relate to. come on what is wrong with treyarch? They Suck that's what! CoD4 is the first one I have really enjoyed (infinity Ward) the beta sucks (treyarch) it's that simple

There are beta keys on eBay for anyone that is looking. You have to make sure you don’t search for anything with the word “beta” in the title because eBay will not allow betas to be sold. Instead, search for “demo”.

for example:
