I'd like to avoid using the term "hardcore" but essentially the only serious game being released for the Wii this Christmas is Animal Crossing, and even then that's very debatable, and it's a DS port.

I've supported Nintendo since the NES days, and while I've enjoyed what little use I've gotten from my Wii there just really isn't enough to justify it as a serious games console, and I love Mario, I love Zelda and I love Pokemon, so please don't label me as someone who only wants to play games like Halo. But compared to the 360 and the PS3, the Wii's existing library, and line up for next year is just laughable.

(Pikmin 3 sounded like it was made up the day after e3 to appease the raging fanboys. I wouldn't be surprised if work has only just started on it).

The bottom line is that Nintendo just aren't interested in making games for people like me anymore. It's not something I hold against them though, if they're making so much more money from other things than good for them.

I just don't understand why some people seem to be in such denial over this.. I'm not sure what the quality of this magazine was like to begin with, but I don't think their excuse is that hard to buy, considering how many gamers feel this same way.

Nintendo has moved on from us.

I can understand Nintendo's logic with turning to a more casual audience. By focusing on casual games, someone can make a relatively large amount of money in a short amount of time with minimal investment or development (you can use a Gamecube devkit to make Wii games, after all). However, this new focus is coming at the expense of the "core" market. There in lies the problem, and it's also why I don't agree with focusing almost exclusively on the casual audience.

A lot of people on here are quick to dismiss the "core" audience as a group of unsatisfiable, selfish whiners who demand they should be the only market catered to. They seem to forget that the "core" audience they demean were essentially the only group of people that bought Gamecubes. Casual gamers overwhelming rejected Nintendo's previous endeavor in favor of the PS2 and a large number of hardcore gamers migrated to the Xbox. Without the "core" gamer, Nintendo probably would've been forced to exit the console business last generation (after all , no one else was buying their system).

So, it becomes quite understandable when a "core" gamer expresses his/her discontent when he or she is not getting a good return on his/her $250.00 investment; they didn't support Nintendo last generation only to be given the cold shoulder this one. I know I bought a Wii for games like SSBB, No More Heroes, and Metroid; I didn't buy it so Nintendo and its third parties could pump out inane crap like Wii Music or Cooking Mama. This Wii's become a gimmicky toy that also happens to play games and that's not the reason why I (or people like me) purchase one.

I know someone's bound to come on here after me and say, "Well, we got all of our games early and Nintendo said they'll refocus soon." Sorry, having five good titles released in two years doesn't justify a Wii purchase. Having to endure six month droughts or waiting for a few years for a worthwhile purchase also doesn't justify a Wii purchase.

I still have my Wii because I hope things will change. However, until that happens, I'll be playing most of my games on the other two systems and my PC. Before anyone asks, yes, it is Crysis-capable; I play with visuals that are better than what Very High offers (CCC 2.21 is a wonderful thing) at 1600x1200 at 30-35 FPS.

I agree with both of those comments. I see no reason to vehemently defend consoles when there's no law against owning more than one. At the same time, I can understand those that are irritated by the bulk of the games on the Wii. A little heads up would have been nice.
