A Next Metal Gear is ... Metal Gear Solid Touch

Don't leave yet! At least let us tell you where this information comes from. According to 1UP and 1 of its tipsters, the latest issue of Japanese mag Famitsu shows what lies beyond the cryptic ellipsis appended to Kojima Productions' teaser website, which we last discussed on December 5th. Judging by a somewhat scrutable scan, the game appears to be an iPhone project dubbed "Metal Gear Solid Touch." [Update: Konami has confirmed the title.]

Little else is known about the touch-screen title, but we imagine many a soldier's neck will be snapped via some precision pinching.

yeah, I was going to say something similar. I don't mind the iPhone pretending to be a gaming platform until real gaming companies start wasting their time making shitty games for them.... then I start getting pissed that the 8 developers on this project aren't helping out with the next *real* project on a *real* gaming platform.

Limited market? iPhone aside, what about the iPod touch? Selling like a mother.

Lee,we're looking at this from two different perspectives. You are looking at the fact that the iPhone/pod has many units, which it does. But how many people want to play an MGS game with touch ONLY controls? The iPhone may play games, but it is not a gaming platform. Sure they may make some phat profit (although I doubt it). My stance, on the other hand, is that they should be putting their resources to make another masterpiece, like MGS5.

lulz at all the Xbots who were utterly convinced that the teaser was the Xbox logo, and *nothing else*.

I knew it was iphone/iwhatever, as soon as I saw the symbol ! + i thing, and then remembered that apple had kept going on and on about how the iphone is a viable gaming platform.
Sadly, I never actually got around to posting that much, but it only made sense that iphone had contracted out for a major title in order to push those claims.

Before things get out of hand with the evil PS3 fanboys who just want to bring people down as I saw on another website, I'll post what I said there:

While I respect your side on this, you need to understand when someone who only has a ps3 wants a 360 exclusive he's usually not treated with the same respect you're demonstrating in your post. But most ppl aren't gonna be civil when it comes to fighting about consoles, funny as it is, since most console makers could give a shit about alliance and more about money.

It was your choice to not save up for a PS3, steep initial starting price but saves a lot in long term. I suggest you start saving for a PS3 if you want MGS4.
I agree with Sha'ul, PS3 owners are not treated with the same respect and the moment 360 nabs a PS3 exclusive, the media makes a huge deal but when a 360 exclusive lands on PS3 it's who cares.

I disagree. For instance, I did not buy a Gamecube until Twin Snakes came out. I had no interest in buying one, but when Metal Gear Solid was announced, I had to buy one. "I am just one its fans" =) I like games like Captain Tsubasa or Initial D of course and if it came out on the Xbox 360, then by all mean I have to pony up and buy one. There is no one game there that would make me buy it. Yeah the Xbox live is nice, but I have MAME for that.

there are a handful of games on the 360 that i want to play so i'll eventually have to get one or get a hold of one from someone i know. sorry you feel so persecuted as 360 only owner on joystiq

The iPod Touch is actually a decent device if you look past the Apple logo. It's smaller and thinner than a PSP, just as powerful, and includes a much better web browser.

And also no buttons.

If you want to play an exclusive game get both consoles. That way you won't be excluded from exclusivity.

Not really IMO MGS is trash. Stealth/Action game, with video gamey timer that counts down when spotted. Mmm Mmm smothered in weaksauce.

No replay value what so ever, and this is not a comparison to any OTHER game...just a rip at MGS period.

Hmm, I have an iTouch
but the idea of playing a game on it is absurd to me. None of the games on it so far have really been worth the time (with the exception of Tap Tap Revenge, and Tap Defense). And for all the iPhone users, I heard that if you get a call in game the app will crash.
Not sure how true that it though..
