Artists list work on unannounced Ultimate Spider-Man sequel [Update]
Eagle-eyed resume watchers, superannuation, spotted two former Treyarch artists list Ultimate Spider-Man 2 on their work history profiles. Interestingly, Activision has yet to announce a sequel to the 2005 game, based on a comic series of the same name.
3D environment artist, Andrew Swihart (employed at Treyarch from 2006-2007) lists his title as motion graphic artist on the game while effects artist, Johnny P. van Zelm (Treyarch employee from 2000-2007), lists the spider-sequel as one of the many games he worked on, including the 2005 original. According to the listing the game, if real -- and if it didn't eventually become Spider-Man: Web of Shadows -- has been in development since 2006, at least.
A sequel from Activision?! That isn't a crazy thought -- especially considering they are Activision. When contacted for a comment, Activision's PR company told us that they weren't aware of any Ultimate Spider-Man sequel in development and reminded us no such game has been announced.
Update: One of our sneaky insiders has told us that Ultimate Spider-Man 2 was in development soon after the launch of the original but development was canceled.

OH boy I hope this is true and I hope Bendis is writing the story. USM may not have had the depth Spider-Man 2 did in the gamplay department, but it's story was infinitely better than the last 48 Spider-Man games to come out.
By the way, I'm not saying the gameplay was bad in USM, it was quite good. I just hated the dumbed down one handed swing mechanic. When is Activition going to listen to the fans? They struck gold with the swinging in SM2 and they have yet to implement it since that game. THE FOOLS!

I agree, that was the one thing i didnt enjoy about Web of Shadows. Well, there was the whiny ass spider-man voice and the manly black widow, but that was it really.

Wow can't WAIT! Ultimate Spiderman was awesome, and the cel-shading was sick.
I just hope the city is a bit more interactive, in US1 it was just there to free roam around and save a few citizens.

Higher volume of more niche articles would be my guess, due to GDC.

I freaking loved Ultimate Spiderman. Great freaking game, and it sets an example for what a GTA style game should be for me.
Screw being a gangster on the streets of Vice City, I wanna be a freaking super hero.

That's enough freakin' endorsement for me to freakin' consider buying this freakin' game when it freakin' comes out even though I never played the original freakin' Ultimate freakin' Spiderman.

i liked the 1st USM game, but i could only play it for short amount of time in one sitting. that game made me so motion sick, which is odd because i ride coasters and other rides like that all the time. and i played most of the other spidey games and never had a problem with any of those.

Ultimate Spider-man 2 was actually canceled before it was announced. Brian Micheal Bendis mentioned it in an interview about a year or so ago. He said he planned on work plot elements from the canceled game into the comic somewhere.

I'm was disappointed with ultimate spider-man. No special attacks, No web attacks, No lockon button and whoever thought it was a good idea to have you press L2 and R2 like your on speed to open a door needs to be fired. When you beat the game you get the option of switching to venom. Instead of being able to play venom in the spidey missons and visa versa you only get a poor mans hulk ultimate destruction where you can just destroy cars and people. Also all the area unavailable bullshit during bossfights.
