Rumor: Zune HD is a 'digital entertainment handheld' that does ... everything

TeamXbox has posted a story about the Zune HD, written this past January, using information going back to August 2008. The lengthy piece makes the Zune HD sound like an integration marvel -- something we're not exactly used to seeing from Redmond.

The Zune HD will allegedly be "a portable game console and media player," with the ability to link Microsoft's Skybox and integrate the current Zune and Xbox marketplaces. Something similar to the NXE will apparently function as the interface on the handheld. Zune HD will also allow users to play Xbox Live Arcade games either on their Xbox or on the handheld.

It all sounds so magical, Toto. When can we go to OZ?

Does everything, eh? Well, I wonder if it will run on a Mac.....

Well seing as how the largest 360 hard drive is 120 and so is the largest zune hard drive you could get all your content from 360 to zune and maybe be able to plug your Zune to the charge plug on the top of the 360 controller and play agmes that way and isnc eit is HD and you can install you 360 games to you HDD than maybe you can install say Fable or Halo to your zune and play it that way on the go in HD plus wern't there rumors of Microsoft hiring a Halo Mobile Team a while back... hmmm?

i used to us my PSP as my main MP3 player but then i bought a Zune cause my PSP just doesnt do the whole pocket thing. i frickin love my Zune (seriously it's probably the best portable device i have between my PSP, DS, and PDA) so the thought of having my Zune paired with some of the functionality i gave up when i moved from my PSP has me all kinds of excited. i can't wait for E3 this year.

@ Susumu - have you been living under a rock the past few months? Whether you or I agree with it or not (I personally don't see the appeal), the iPhone is garnering much attention as a portable gaming device.
