I'm excited to see more details on this. I spent 1 year in FF11 (great times), but I ended up leaving when all my friends stopped playing to join WoW.

I haven't played MMORPGs from Diablo 1, but this I want to play.
I'm looking forward to getting it on the PS3 :)

Really ?
I didn't know that. So its a normal online multiplayer RPG then.
Thanks for the info.
Then this would be my first MMORPG experience :D

It will be interesting to see how this fares, as now everyone with a PS3 automatically has the necessary hardware. The lack of a hard drive and built-in ethernet on the PS2 really hamstrung FF11.

As much as I don't like MMOs....if this can come as close to awesomeness or even be better than Blade & Soul (if you don't know...check it out)...then I am sold with this.

Blade and Soul will be epic but they stated in a recent interview that the game is finished at about 20%....so you know what that means

The characters in ff14 looked way better imo compared to the ones in ff13. Can't wait to get more infos about FF14 and somehow I don't believe it will be released in 2010 already...but who knows

Either they've secretly been working on this alongside FF13 and VS13, it won't be out in 2010, or they're gonna release a shitty game, but all in all, I hope it succeeds.

Which confirms it will be for PC as well! Plus screenshots of the trailer, which confirms the Galka and Elvaan and Humes and I think a Mithra(no Taru though). Some of the trailer even looked "bad" enough to be in-game. Looks better, but still keeps the same art style.

Why even number the MMO spinoffs? I don't get it.

Ah well, I haven't even played a Final Fantasy since Dragon Quest VIII. er, I mean, FFX-2.

FFXI, XII and this are the reason I don't get excited about FF games anymore. You really never know what you're going to get anymore, and that is not a compliment.

... this one I would have been stoked about if it wasn't online. That kills it for me.

Will not buy, unless there's no subscription fee (unlikely). I have no intention of shelling out money every month for one game.

Bah. Final Fantasy isn't as good for me anymore. I enjoyed anything before the PS2 versions, not because of fanboyism, but because the recent games... don't seem to have that magic like the pre-X era games. Though they still have an awesome soundtrack.

And this one's going to be an MMO...

Pass.

The official site says the music is by Nobuo Uematsu, so great music indeed!

Click Info at the top right, it'll say the music credits.

LOL I was watching G4 on and off today. I have to say they were making a big deal of 360 getting MGS series. (I'm not sure if they'll even get MGS4. If so, we all know it won't look as good) But back to my point Sony got FF14 back as an exclusive title. And as far as I know they didn't even make a big deal out of that. FF14 Online only on PS3!!!!!

the homepage of the game calls windows as the other plattform besides the PS3.

i hate that downlobbying of pc-gaming. it's the same with microsoft calling Splinter Cell Conviction Xbox exklusive, while it's beeing released on PC too.....

Look at IGN... they have only 4 videos for PC on theyr E3 site. They kind of completely ignore all the multiplattform titles.... no wonder ps3 and xbox territory gets more views.

fyi Final Fantasy XI is based on a engine created in 1998, this new Final Fantasy XIV is based on an engine created in 2004 aka white engine which was then changed into "Crystal Tools". This isn't the first we've heard of the game code named Rapture. Infact I'm sure you can go as far back as 2006 and find mention of the game. Also based on the life span of other MMO's FFXI is rather old infact its approaching the age of EQ as far as length of shelf duration. You can almost predict when a game is going to stop being played by the number of patches, updates, and expansion packs. A game that is as heavily played as FFXI still has another good year in it which would put the release of FFXIV right on time to pick up the torch for Square. As for it being a exclusive release to PS3, kinda makes me laugh really. Some where I was reading that sony had pissed off Square and thats the reason square was seeking other consoles to lauch they're games.....infact I believe it was a bunch of Xbox fans that started that rumor. This never happened as you can see also I'm guessing that a month or so after the PS3 release they're will be a PC release or as 2010 gets closer they will actually give dates on whats being released to what and when. In this day and age it would be a bad money choice for a company to give exclusive release rights to any one console or platform. However they could give startup/launch rights to a single console or platform which is what I'm assuming square is doing this saves them money and helps boost relations with one or more companies.

Just wanted to say I am definitely looking forward to playing this. FFXI was great and now this. as for all those that say online killed it, just stop replying. Why bother even watching the video when in bold letters it says online? thats time taken out to reply to something that doesn't interest you. Kind of Ironic don't you think? Also this game has been in the making since 2004, and is an entirely seperate team devoted to this. They are not the same people that are working on the console single player titles. Also if you search hard enough or go to g4tv.com and watch the e3 trailer or search around for japenese news info, youll find that this version will have solo aspects of the game this time around. So I say cheers. Taru may make it into the game but thats hopeful wishing.

All the Same races will be present in FFXIV that were in FFXI allong with a few new ones and your right there was an artical released about the game code named rapture aka FFXIV lol a few plans for the game was to have instances and the ability to use RMT to get items through square. Don't know if the RMT one is correct but it was a Q:A artical Can't remember the guys name who they were asking questions to but I believe he was pretty high up in the developement team of FFXIV aka Rapture. Also there is an old E3 Trailer that shows off the Crystal Tools Engine aka White Engine on YouTube you can watch and you can see alot of FFXI in it. On another note to further Jz's point about players obsessing with the Single player FFs.....FFXI Jobs, Monsters, Cities, weapons, Skins, monsters, quests, areas, and theme are all based off the "very first" Final Fantasy.....if your such a big FF player maybe you should play FFXI and FFI just to see the similarities and maybe....just maybe you might grow a brain and stop being such a killjoy.

I think they should have just set aside the whole online final fantasys as their own projects rather than sticking them right into the normal lineup of numbered final fantasys. I hated it when I had found out that Final Fantasy XI was an online game, but I hated it even worse when I had first heard this one was. What a disappointment.

Doesn't 'Final Fantasy Online' and 'Final Fantasy Online II' just seem better than throwing it up in the middle of the regular Final Fantasy titles? I mean, c'mon!

This game looks stunning. I think even the early skeptics will be impressed. If Square Enix improves the areas where FFXI fell short, I'm sure it will be an amazing online experience.
