How? They dumped it after some anti war groups and the media picked up on the story.

Yes. Because they didn't want the negative publicity. They were completely within their rights to not publish this game and they had a perfectly legitimate reason not to.

People lost children during, let's see...WWII, Vietnam, US Civil War, ...etc. and video games are made about those events. Why are people so stupid? It makes me frown.

I think the main controversy is not just about where, when, or who is involved, but also the genre, "a survival horror game." If it were merely another shoot 'em up game like socom confrontation, call of duty or what have you then the controversy would be minimal. The type of game is much more emotional and connects more directly. Of course, if Michael Moore were to direct a documentary of the same name it would be well recieved and praised...just my opinion. Thanks.
