Its good to see this stuff coming out of Denver. I'm very sick of the people at Game Stop knowing not knowing a damn thing. I'll definitely check this out.

Good that he has someone, or cummunity ( his as a hint :-) ) that supports him, because I am sure he didnt break the little Piggy Bank on his room to start ...
Anyway, if can succed its the important point! If not, well, he will open another store!

Great story. He seems very sincere so I hope he does well.

Most of the independent games shops here in the UK that I know of are stingy bastards (i.e ripping of unsuspecting customers who are trading in rare games then making a fuck-ton of money on ebay) and half of their new stock is stolen. No way I'd support those types. If there was an legit gamer in it for the love of games like this guy in my area, I'd buy all my games from him.

I live in Colorado Springs, so I might just have to head up to Denver some time soon and visit this young man.

Man, I hope this guy has better luck than I did.

After I graduated from college I opened my own game store in Michigan back in the early 90's. I had no idea what I was getting into, did no research and basically just had this silly idea that I could make money selling used games. I also rented games, which at the time was still somewhat new, and I carried the NeoGeo for rental too.

When all was said and done I made more money off the cheap candy I added to the front of the store because the market was better. Then I added arcade games and I made even more off that. Eventually I had enough and went back to computer programming and real money.

Good luck kid, you are seriously going to need it.

Good for him, I feel his situation as it happened to me as well. Staying positive and making it is what one has to do and he's doing it with style. I hope his store takes off and goes where he wants it to.
