Where the Wild Things Are gameplay trailer starts a wild rumpus

Sure, we could chastise the upcoming Where the Wild Things Are game for being a cash-in on the upcoming Spike Jonze movie. And yes, the first trailer (found after the break) could be as unexciting for you as it was for us from a gameplay standpoint. But hey, it's Where the Wild Things Are. We're kind of giving it a pass based on the sheer adorability of it all.

Go ahead, try not to smile at all the 'wild rumpusing' taking place. We may not be super interested in running around whacking stuff as the book's main character Max, but we sure do like all the nods to the eponymous book. Please excuse these rose-tinted goggles, but we'll be needing to keep them on until October, thank you very much.

as a child i worshipped the book like a good, and i believe the film hasnt gone hollywood with it, which i like.

lets hope the game isnt a OMG WHACKY FUN GUIZ kinda thing.

but yeah, i just hope the game doesnt give people a bad impression of the timeless classic that is the picture book

Then I would say we have a great movie.

Game looks better than I thought it would but still doesn't look good and i will never touch it (why the hell make a video game of it anyway). Movie looks amazing though.

As many other people have said, the movie looks spectacular.

Don't be so mean, guys. It's Where The Wild Things Are. There's no need to even give it a pass, for it is a pass in itself.

I want to go to the library so I can read the book now and go back to a time when school was fun and people never...

I'm kind of confused as to what playing a video game (like this one, at least) has to do with your imagination.

You need whatever imagination you can muster to make another generic movie-tie-in platformer interesting to play.

I LOVE WTWTA, but this game looks suspiciously weak. It's a shame, they could have some fun with it and made it at least interesting.

Looks like this is gonna be the next gears of war.

I can't wait for this movie and I just might give the game a chance, too. This remains one of my favorite books of all-time.

is it just me or is it a little odd that they are making a childrens book into a game that is E 10+

but the movie is probably going to be the best thing released this year, looks incredible

I loved the book as a child and I cannot wait for the movie. I dunno about the game. I may rent it for the nostalgia.

I'll end up getting this because I'm such a sucker for this property. I have three copies of the book (my original,one for my daughter and an audiobook) plus I'm currently making my own adult sized version of Max's monster costume for Halloween.

For all you people wondering where the imagination part comes from it comes from the book that is the whole point of the whole book. I loved the book when I was a kid and is still my favorite book I ever read unless Xbox Magazine counts for a book. Also the movie looks great dunno about the game though.

Nice to see the trailer only shows what appear to be XBox 360 graphics. I'd like to see what it looks like on the Wii. Don't think it'll be quite as nice-looking. And from that trailer, I'm on the fence with this one, even for the 360.
